- Salmon fishing in Scotland has to be up there as the Pinnacle of fishing. Actually catching a Scottish Salmon in Spring IS ANOTHER MATTER! Iw as lucky enough to head on to The River Annan in South West Scotland and try again in my quest for an Spring Salmon.
Asa you might be able to tell I finally managed it.....Hope you enjoy an unbelievable morning fishing and quite a funny fight. IF YOU CAN'T TELL MY EXCITEMENT, GIVE YA HEAD A WOBBLE!

@@japanesefishingadventures Get yourself up to the river Isla at Keithick streams near Coupar Angus. It’s on fishpal. Great spinning water and heaving with fish in May. Trust me 😊

What a feeling! I was worried for your blood pressure for a while there! Sounded like you were running up a mountain. Nothing can beat the feeling of being attached to such a beast on a classic river like that! Afterwards you feel sorry for ordinary people who will never experience this!

I’ve ran some bloody serious distances and never been that out of breath! Never been so nervous in my life 😂😂 However, you’re right 100% there’s something else about one of these beauties taking your line and especially a fresh springer as well - happy bloody days 👍🏻

Haha 😂 I think hate was quite strong in the horses defence, but you can’t judge them- one minute for munching sugar cubes the next they are stomping around!!
Just let the devon swing round with the current right into the side then reel it in. a small weight to keep it down if need be.

Bonny fish, nicely done. | have fished The Annan higher upstream two separate weeks without success. I once fished The Lune in August and it was bloody freezing. Another guy was fishing the same beat and he says to me " Wish I had a pair of neoprene waders on like you". I replied "Yeah, that'd be good, but not this pair, they've got a bloody hole in 'em!".

@@japanesefishingadventures Top tip from the Victorians (before waders). "When wading check your legs frequently. If they are blue or black stop fishing immediately. If they are merely rubicund you may continue to enjoy the waters".

@@Adam_Outdoors sadly the stocks are so bad in the UK that every fish is precious! Some of the rivers in Scotland still have a decent run, but it’s mainly catch and release for Salmon over here 😀

Congrats on the fish, it’s a “Devon Minnow” though. No such thing as a Devonshire minnow.
Haha, I wondered if anyone would notice this!! Reason I call them a Devonshire minnow? Before I caught my first salmon as a child (!!) I decided I wanted to use a Devon Minnow and at that very moment we were in the Devonshire Pub (chain of them around Yorkshire) - you can probably see where it ended up can’t you 😂😂
Question is: Would you rather catch one horse-sized salmon, or be chased by a salmon-sized horse...? I think I've just worked this one out. Hahahaha 🤣

Suggest you set the clutch BEFORE you start fishing then do NOT adjust during the fight as you were lucky not to lose it.

40lb line - 25lb leader - is this some sort of joke ?
Admittedly the braid is 40ib as it’s my Pike reel and I only had 25ib fluro 😂 but to caveat that, it means if you get snagged you can pull through a lot of stuff etc! But I do recommend you chill out abit mate million ways to skin a cat 😂
