Ah yes, canon in d. Every cellists favorite piece.
played it so many times in local music school orchestra and then also in school I'm so tired of playing it
Ikr
such a boring piece, hate playing it
It’s a really good song
I can see why you would love playing the same thing for 54 measures
Basically every instrument.
But, once in a while there is some 5 minutes where you can touch anything blindfolded and you feel like the next best musician to ever born on the planet.
Those 5min are gold.
omg so true
FRR
YEEESSSS
egg
*5 seconds for me
As a cellist, I literally flinched when I heard Canon in D 😭
Jumpscare :(
ptsd
We do play it a lot don't we, to the point of being triggered. 🤣
I feel you. Respect ✊
As a cellist I find this very relatable! It’s the ‘where is my music?’ For me lol. Or when you practice for a while, you can’t get it right, your bowing arm starts to hurt, and then you just get up to ‘take a break’ and you forget to put your cello back into its case.
My poor cello downstairs right now not in it's case 😐.... YOU JUST REMINDED ME!
@@zebra24-7 i never put my cello back into its case until lessons is that bad 💀
@@Mochi_VAL I think cellos prefer life in a case because the humidity is it's enemy and they can be nice and cozy and protected in there. They like to come out and play often though :)
yey :sob
@@zebra24-7 yea my endpin is kinda stuck possibly from humidity
That repetition is fundamental is something most non-musicians don't understand. I'm sooo glad my hubby is also a musician!
Well said!!
Muscle memory, it doesn't happen by accident, does it ?
Likely situation: You finish practice. You are a bit tired. You place the cello beside you on the floor sideways, thinking ‘I’ll put it away later.’ A week passes. You trip.
You and another commenter reminded me where my cello is (and more importantly where it is not!) right now,, whoops!!
No true cellist would forget to put their cello away let alone trop
One thing that I never do with violin
@@eternally1276 Why are you so snooty? They literally just forgot to put their cello away, no big deal😭 And as long as their cello wasn't irreparably damaged, it doesn't really matter. I'm pretty sure I've tripped over a cello before and it only went out of tune🤣
@@kirafinucane7264 But a real cellist would never just forget to put a $6000+ delicate thing away. Would you just forget and leave your car out unlocked in a dangerous neighborhood?
Pachebel wrote the first 8 measures of the cello part of Canon in D...and then DIED ~Stephen Sharp Nelson
Canon in D only became popular after someone dug it up about a hundred years after he died.
My pencils often go missing - and I don’t have a child to blame😂😂!!
Same!!
I finally invested in a holder at the beginning of this school year. And it has a place for my charging cords!
Just picked the cello up again after two years and all my family wants to hear is canon D 😂
Love it.
💀
Surprise them with the opening bars to "Enter Sandman" or "Mr. Krinkle" by Primus
Give 'em the Chicken Dance.
As a amateur cellist (not a good one) this is so relatable
Also, grinding away endless scales and arpeggios. Violinist here.
octaves
As a cellist myself, this is very relatable. I tould my friend I was learning how to play Rush-E and they thought I got on my first try.
I lost like ten pencils and just found all of them on the top part of my violin case lol
The pencil going missing everytime is so relatable. 😭
As a cello player, I can relate to this
So relatable. Everyone expects me to be this good on cello cause ive done it for 1.5 years
No cellist like playing canon in D , 8 Bars on repeat
Wh- Whhat are you talking about... Canon i-in D is beautiful-
Facts
@@kuliron the cello part is the same 8 quarter notes over and over again
@@chesswithlatios4277 Lol ik I'm a cellist. It was sarcasm
Pencils all gone from.stabbing ears after the Canon
This makes me feel 10x better! 😂 Thank you for this!
I started learning an instrument at a reasonable age (6) and my mother used to claim that it would "help to release stress and to relax". Well, no. Practicing can be so very annoying and adds to the stress (most of the time).
Still, I hope I will make time to learn another instrument in the future.
Practicing while watching a movie is fun!
I must try this!
I've been learning the cello for the last 4 months and it is a challenge every day!
“Where’s my music” is too accurate. Pain of memorizing your piece and then forgetting one note.
my mum was a proffessional viola player and this applied to her. I was amazed that she sounded so rough when practicing.
The amount of flashbacks you have sent me to remember is uncountable. Excellent job. Very relatable.
I've been playing piano for years, I bought my first cello at a music store this morning..my fingers hurt.
I love videos like this showing how beautiful it sounds,it keeps me motivated
I remember playing Pachelbel Canon on the viola in the fourth grade in our orchestra concert. It was beautiful!
It really is a great piece. Its one of those classics that never gets played because its "over played"
I just practiced and let me tell you how it went down: scales, attempting to play Dvorak that’s above my skill level, and nearly crying as I try to fight 3 (and possibly a 4th) wolf tones because apparently my cello is a wolf breading ground.
definitely not graceful 😅
THANK you. And the pencil...the missing pencil EVERY. single. time.
Still practicing, even tho having several breakdowns but it is what it is.
This is very relieving, cause I just started and that is literally me the whole time trying to figure out random songs.😭😭💯
why is this SOoo relatable
My mother was a violinist with perfect pitch and had an amazing repertoire in her head. She could often hear a piece on piano and play it on violin without music.
She told me that you don’t practice what you know, you practice what you don’t know.
Yes, I understand completely
The sound of the open D against the high note from the Swan gave me vietnam flashbacks 💀
I play the cello and I 100% agree. But this also goes for any other instrument.
I'm taking a quick break from my violin practice and omg is the intonation issue so true! "It sounds off. But, like... Why? I swear... Are my fingers in the right spots? I've played this song a hundred times!"
The lost music and pencil thing is 👌. And unstable, unpredictable music stands that could fall over at the tap of a finger
I love playing the cello and practicing it’s so calming I have been playing for two years now I’m in 7th grade
That sigh hits home.
I have developed a frown line between my eyebrows just from struggling over two bars.
I felt this. In. My soul. Especially the pencils. I don't have a 2 year old. I'm just forgetful.
this very accurate to all musician
I think every string player can relate
you guys cant relate to canon in d D:
Totally agree!
You have this so Dead on ! however, you should add what it is like practicing after a long hard day of work and trying to stay focused. High marks. Thank you !
This is soooo true!!!! I play the cello and this is how I feel all the time
As a starting cellist this is extremely validating 😂
As a cello player, this is literally all my practice sessions 😭😭😭
Cello is the best instrument, prove me wrong
I'm not bias, just because I play the cello doesn't make me biased
but i'm really loving it. omg, i get so giddy when i get it right
So relatable 😂 I just changed all the strings on mine and struggled to get the C string to sound right for a solid 20 minutes, still couldn't get it
As a Cellist❤❤❤ this is so TRUE❤❤😂😂😂😂!!!!
Wow sounds great
How true.
Exactly what it is like for me when I practice my cello at home
Beginner here. When everyone in the house suddenly finds an excuse to go outside for a walk, to the store, put on on headphones, play ping-pong in the basement - anything to get as far away as possible. Then, you know you are truly practicing. Sometimes the cat comes in and listens. What a friend.
As a pianist/organist, I was horrified when I ran out of pencils at rehearsal yesterday 😂! The struggle is real!!
Fax. As a cellist this is straight facts.
It's been heavy on my heart to learn the cello for 20 years now.
It’s never too late. Seriously don’t be afraid to start.
@@thecelloonline Thank you for that ❤️
I myself did not have a traditional start of beginning very young and weekly lessons. I started at 11 had first private lesson at 14 and didnt have regular weekly lessons until I was a cello major in college at 19. @adultcello started at age 25 from scratch and talks all the time about that journey and has great content for adult beginners. Same with Jonathan @cellocoach If you have a desire and you have a cello you are good to go.
@@thecelloonline I honestly don't have a cello, YET. I'm either going to save or dip into savings. Thank you for having your channel. Your shorts inspire me.
Canon in Divorce if you play that at my wedding
When you can’t find the notes higher up so you have to find a video of someone playing the piece to understand 😭 probably just me
I remember when my sister would practice cello at night, I could hear her screaming and crying in pain as she was developing the callouses on her fingers.
Preach brother
Yesss!! I play cello and that is definitely how we practice🤣
As a cellist can confirm 100% acurate😂
Ah a correctly filmed cello practice session, it’s always a little hard to get all the notes in tune, especially 4th position or higher
So relatable! I play it
I love this!
As a cellist i can relate
I'm a beginning student and my God you got that right lol
Oh my goodness, the Swan, right in the feels 😭😅
So beautiful, but so difficult to succeed beautifully...
I still love it 💖
As someone who plays the cello this is so relatable 😭😭
OMG CANNON IN D SLAYS THATS LIKE MY FAVORITE PEICE I PLAY
The Swan part, especially fitting, considering that's how I am practicing it😅
I can totally relate to that 😂
This is so relatable
NEVER EVER seen something nearly as accurate as this
Thank you!
I keep on losing my pencils as well!! I’m just trying to practice my piece and I need quick access to a cello because I don’t want to put it down, and all of my pencils are gone! 😂
You forgot the mental breakdowns in between because your concert is tommorow and you have procrastinated
It's true tho😂😂😂 I'm littlerly frustrated on A major scale and this is actually how practicing cello is like
What about the scale is giving you trouble?
The slurp of the coffee killed me!! 😂
That is soo true, also as a cellist, I've had a bit of this experience, but once you practice enough, you'll soon get it right. Hehehe maybe.
Thats so real i play the cello and i love it
So.. it's still sounds good
The pencils! Same goes with my sister
You’ll know any musician is mad when you hear an onslaught of horribly played notes. String instruments are such a pain sometimes and I just go off on my violin.
Except singers. I think they’d just scream
TRUEEE I LEARNED CELLO YESTERDAY
I´m a beginner lvl cellist....and there are days... when practicing you feel like you´ve never practiced before .....
As a cellist I can agree
From my experience, the type of people who'd think we practice like this, don't even know what a cello is in the first place...
I’ve only been playing in a school program for like 2 years and I’m pretty bad so I don’t entirely understand, but it is hard and opposite of relaxing
Canon in D ... that was bad enough. But then you had a beverage hanging over the cello like you were so sure it wouldn't spill... 😱🫣😖 omg stawp! 🤣
But yes, that's a very accurate portrayal of a practice session 👏
Cello learners please stand up 🧍🏾♀️This man is amazing.
Pachelbel's Cannon in D is one reason I got a looper for my cello. We all hate it xD
this is how i feel - as an adult learner 1 week in lol
You forgot to stay in first position while playing an impossible note.
The “what in the world” is so accurate 😂😂😂
I practice cello as a hobby and IT'S TOTALLY TRUE😂
As a cellist myself canon d is just something else 😅
