There is no fossil formation on the planet quite as memorable as the Hell Creek Formation, stretching across rocks that make up parts of modern day Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. This huge tank of an animal, equipped with the instantly recognisable horns that provide its name, lived in large numbers along the floodplains and in the woodlands that composed Hell Creek, over sixty six million years ago.
