MiG-29 in War Thunder: Overhyped or Overpowered?

You know Gaijin messed up the Flight Models of 4th Gens when a MiG-29 beats the F-16 in a two circle and the F-16 beats it in a one circle. That's like the most fundamental truth of 4th Gen dogfights but Gaijin found a way to mess even that up.
I know that the mig 29 was a very good rate fighter and so is the F16, but idk if the f16a is better at rating than the mig 29 I think a C model is the better one
@@TheRealHIPERBlk 40 Vipers can reliably beat the MiG-29 in a rate fight far far better than the any A model, the MiG-29 should be beating current in game Falcons in literally any regime right now.
They aren't for some reason other than the 2C and that's if you're a good Fulcrum driver.
@@jaek__ that is pretty much my thoughts exactly, my kd in sim is about 4 on the fulcrum and that's just because I out rate all the f16s, otherwise they are pretty tough to fight against

4:10 chaff isnt instantly stationary, it loses its momentum given by aircraft that fired it quickly. This means that sensitive (high track rate and switches target instantly) pd radars like mig29 and f16 can get fooled for a split second before chaff slows down enough.

Nice vid mate! Note on the M2K and the Magic: every missile now is very sensitive to flare and funnily enough my experience is that the R60M is somewhat more flare-resistant than the Magic 2. The M2K still is my favorite top tier plane to fly though.

I personally love the MiG-29, its looks, its performance. The only gripe that I have is that I'd rather have the R-73's (not in the overpowered state it was in on the dev server) over the R60M's just for the sake of it being the "new" thing.
and i whant my ja 37D to have its aim-120b it had historically but we dont all get what we want
the lack of chaff resistance is a problem with most if not all PD radars in game, ESPECIALLY the viggen's radar.

5:13 that's because Gaijin EXTERMITATED AirRB dedicated players with their scrapping process of the game mode in the last years. There are very few dedicated airRB players, people who actually know what they are doing. 95% of AirRB players nowadays are bombing ground targets while playing their shinny 60 dollar premiuns to grind their CAS aircrafts (or SL) for GroundRB. As sad as it may sound, the main game mode of WT today is GroundRB. AirRB is there only for the grind
The MIG 29 is one of favorite jet’s not because it’s good because the way it look’s the gun on it is good
I stopped playing top tier because I really got bored. my dream was to get the F16 and I have it but I don't have fun with it. now I play games in other br where it is more entertaining for me like the F-86, mig 15, the insufferable Sea hawk. The Spitfire Mk 18 and Mk 22. P51H, TA 152 and BF109 model K are more fun for me

Haven’t touch top tier jets for a month. Just take out the mig29 and got a couple gun kills. It feels so much better than when it first came out. The radar lock is solid, no longer limits at 9G. Once I got into the f16s’ six, they are dead

Yea I noticed when playing MLA how the MiG-29 just *can't* be notched, I'm in a perfect notch and it doesn't do anything..

R60M has or had (after recant missile changes) some flare resistance unlike r60. After those said changes it doesnt matter as basicly all missiles are easy to flare anyway.

There are numerous occasions where I've been in the F-14 locking a Mig29 in a headon with PD, and the thing literally just chaffed the PD lock away.

I only play arcade air at 11.7 in my f14 i never had problems with hold a lock when the enemy is notching🤣🤣🤣

Did anyone see that r27 completely lose radar lock and but still hit the plane while he was dumping flares
the r27er is very good, I can fire it when an aim7f/m is at 5 miles and I can still get the kill and survive

How do you lock onto the next enemy when you are already locked onto one? like I notice that once that f14 started flaring your radar locked the chaff but you were able to quickly update the radar and switch back to the f14

Definitely op in its current state, been buffed like 10 times for nothing while the f16 stays gimped, the mig the Germans flew (I think a version earlier than the one ingame was said to have a radar at least one generation behind the US f16 they flew against), but still had superior capabilities in ACM with the archer and off bore launching
Lmfaoooo the F-16A is not gimped at all, it already has unbeatable dogfight preformance. Yet the MiG-29 still laughably under preforms at low speeds.

@Lewis Bush as somone who has not lost a single duel in the F-16A against ANY other plane except the F-16A block 10 (not the ADF) I can say that there is nothing gimped about the F-16As fm, you are just bad at dogfights and complain a lot. I don't even have the MiG-29 but I've gone against it enough to know how stupidly it's UNDER PREFORMING, it's low speed turn rate is gimped. I have not lost once to a MiG-29A in a dogfight.
@Lewis Bush the F-16A already pulls more AOA than it was able to IRL while staying stable. In reality it should pull LESS aoa..it already pulls like 25 fucking degrees of AOA and beats even the M2K in the 1 circle at its cornering speed. You have to be in some next level drugs to say it's AOA is gimped. As for high speed preformance it already does like 11 Gs.

It's FM at low speed needs to be fixed, I think that's honestly one of its most glaring flaws, it seriously should be performing better and "floating" a lot more at low speeds. It has such low wing loading yet feels like a brick with two fireworks on it below 400kph.
In reality the sub 400 knot speed regime is where the MiG-29 should shine in a dogfight.. the MiG-29 should be both much better at the 1 and 2 circles at low speeds. Hopefully when the German MiG-29 comes they will fix the MiGs FM

@Jack Ozbloke I'm talking about under 400 KNOTs not kmh. The mig 29 is under preforming at under 680 kmh. Not 400, it needs a significant buff in turn rate at under 680 kmh. (Roughly 400 knots)

kinda tired of people asking F-16 to not have G-limiter & then saying MiG-29 is OP
it literally gonna change nothing, they will die the same way, they will black out faster, i have F-16MLU, and removing the G-limiter is just virtually make u feel stronger by changing absolutely nothing, and i still think its the best plane in the game, MiG-29 stand 0 chance against me in dogfight, they might can run away, and i respect that, this is what "working with ur strength & weakness" felt like.
also R-27ER might be strong but US team always had the upper hand in most games with Phoenixes & Sparrows.
its time to stop looking at individual performance at top tier, it barely matters in large scale if u're the only one that's strong in the team, its about the team composition, right now US team is dominating 80%, & it makes them essentially, OP.

Regardless of the plane, top tier is terribly bad ATM. One of the teams just vanishes in seconds and that is extremely boring, no matter which one of them you got thrown into...

After 300 Games in the F16 I started to get burnt out because it’s shit flight performance.
Just got the Mig 29 yesterday and have about 50 games in it now & it’s insanely better in my opinion.

Bro trust me it's not the premiuem players fault the missles are team killing they are locking onto guys enemys who are near a team ate and the missle when it misses goes for the next available target I have a mig29 and even I noticed my r60m went for a teammate earlier and killed two of them in back to back matches I even checked my replay I was dead locked onto the enemy and yet it still went for the team ate especially now they buffed the seaker head in the warhead it's now when it flared looking for new enemy that's hot and if a teamate is near by its going for them. So many people condem the ML players as if they are intentionally killing there teammates and while they may be true in some cases in 95 percent of the cases it is not that damn r24t is even worst with team killing especially on the ML idk why it just is I got at least 3 TK on the ML the missles are just flawed so it's always funny to hear a person playing awhile complaining about premium players when at the end of the day no premium players no war thunder so which is it? Do you want good new content on war thunder or do you want the same shit you were playing 10 years ago? That's the problem with some of yall you want your cake and you want it to eat it too and I'm sorry to tell you. You can't have everything without give and take so the cash generated by GE and premium planes allows for gaijin to create updates and patches for you so you don't stop playing the game so please for the love of God any old old WT players just stop crying for christ sakes always bitching about something

Dawg it was so sad on release. The grind to get it was ass, too. At least it's not like the Tornado though. I did that grind over the span of 4-5 hours and ended up with probably the worst jet in the game lmfao

I am ok with mig29 basically is not that op if you know how to play the game to avoid the ''op'' radar missle of mig29 you can just go low to the ground i thing the only problem is because gaijin put it in germany tech tree and there many more players with mig29 now and the only op thing is because many mig29 may will lock you and you can avoid 1 or 2 missle but not 6 or 10

@@ACP_1123 Half the time notching doesn't seem necessary. A few buddies and myself found that if you just fly like not quite perpendicular, but at like a 70 degree angle to the MiG's radar, popping chaff does it. Alone. So sad.
