Petrol and Diesel Price Explained in Tamil (தமிழ்)

Fuel prices hitting record highs have been a concern for while now with petrol has crossed the Rs-100-a-litre mark in Tamil Nadu and diesel price inching towards the same. But the Central and state governments do not show any indication that they will cut taxes on fuel anytime soon to bring prices down.
There are mainly four factors that influence the rise in prices:
1) Crude oil, freight and processing charges to the dealer.
2) Excise duty charged by the central government.
3) Dealer commission to the gas station.
4) Value Added Tax levied by the state government.
We hope the governments will reduce the taxes on petrol and diesel, which will also lower the rate of inflation as fuel is an input cost into almost all commodities, which must be transported to reach the consumer.
