This is on par with some of the Chinese coffin apartments. Stop calling it a bargain, stop romanticizing over-inflated prices. Call it like it is: a robbery and a scam.
Real estate laws should post these as any unit smaller than 12X12 should be called ROOM TO LET.
Amen preach , this is unbelievable in America. Call what you may; entitlement but I'm not drinking that Kool aid
What it is is of questionable legality. I'd question if it is up to code for fire safety as if there is a fire in the hallway he has no alternative means of egress. Having said that, these apartment's are the ones you see on shows like this because they are out of the ordinary and not common.
At best it's a bedsit, not a real apartment.
i agree but he obviously needs to live inside manhattan so...
For me the worst part would be no windows
On the other hand, it’s gonna be pretty tough to break in…
Is there even ventilation?
Lol small spaces
How is that even legal. I live in the U.S. and in my county it's illegal not to have a window
It looks like a prison cell.
I may be European but I know a broom closet when I see it.
😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol
Preach!
🤣
Did the agent say LEGAL? NO, it is not. The reason for windows is not for a view or light, it is to access a fire escape. That apartment in not legal.
Maybe the skylight just barely made it legal. 🤷♀️
@@genwilson7741 You can't go out the skylight in a fire
I agree with you 100%. A $1000.00 for something you can’t even turn around when there is two people in the room.
Having two internal stairwells in a building meets modern safety codes. Note that modern high rises do NOT have fire escapes.
I had an apartment in grad school that had no windows. It did have a skylight and two internal stairwells.
This dude pays 1170$ a month for that CLOSET with a bathroom 💀
He didn't do his 'due diligence' and this is how these collage kids are 'taken' advantage of...'sad they have to learn ..the hard way...by that 'sleazy' make believe Realtor...
But he lives alone, and has his own bathroom. So the $1,100 is well spent. There are some apartments for a little less where the bath is down the hall, so you share the bathroom with your neighbors.
It's sad how home people think this is actually a good deal. This apartment looks like depression.
@@nikkistephens4990
He probably works two jobs to pay for it.
Wow sad
Am I the only one obsessed with looking at tiny apartments and trying to figure out how I'd interior design it all so that it includes a stove, dishwasher and laundry? lol
No. I do the same thing!😅
I love the challenge of it all :)
@Alee Wong I’ve been living without a kitchen for about two years now. I have figured out how to do all of my cooking and my washing in a 5 x 7 area which is my bathroom. Let’s just say it takes a lot of balancing, creative shelving etc. I’m sure you know all about that kind of stuff.👍
Me too ! you must look at paris apts !Wait a minute- a dishwasher??? are u nuts???
@@nicolecrystal6765 you can buy mini dishwashers :))
Imagine the humidity after a shower. That's awful
he takes cold showers to save on money
No windows would be something I’m not sure if I could deal with…emergency exits.😬 Although having his own bathroom is great for that area.
As a New Yorker I was actually more shocked that he had a bathroom vs not having a window. So many NYC apts have rooms without windows. Sometimes even if you have a window it faces another building so there’s no sunlight. Glad he seems to enjoy it because I think I’d go crazy in that shoe box.
I thought it was illegal to not have windows
@@suqarBoomBoom 😂😂😂Lol!
@@blackjag121 Technically a room without a secondary exit such as a window is not legally allowed to be called a bedroom, but I know a lot of brokers will advertise closets and dining rooms as bedrooms anyways to jack up the rent. I really can't believe it's legal for an entire apartment to have no windows, honestly the people living there could probably report the landlord to the city and get all their rent payments returned to them.
@@suqarBoomBoom I’ve never been in New York City. I couldn’t live without windows either. Although I could live in a shoe box! Haha! I’m 5’ tall and 95 lbs. I don’t need much room, just the basics and a window.
I give this young man kudos for getting out there and be positive and making it happen for himself. I love watching these videos, In some ways they are very inspirational
Anyone charging for these tiny shoe box appts should be ashamed of themselves 😒
A studio with a grand window and an actual private bathroom WITH a door is the smallest I’m living in, NOT this. 😬😬
And who pay rent for this have no comment sense
This type of “apartment” would be illegal in my country as it has no (open) windows which is a must here to get natural air flow and an extra access to escape in case of a fire. There is nothing cool about an overpriced shoebox. This should be illegal
$1000 to LITERALLY live in a closet😳 I’d live in NJ and just commute 🤦🏽♀️
Having a private bathroom is a dealbreaker on any apt. I ever look at.
He is living in what was the bathroom and walk in closet of a large apartment. I thought it would be illegal to devide up space this way.
I would take this over something twice as big with a shared bathroom. This is quite cozy for a single dude.
I use to live in a college dorm with a roommate
I used to live with shared bathrooms and stay at hostels. Now I can't imagine. Private bathroom is more important to me than anything these days.
Does the sink have a sink sprayer? If it doesn't, then that's a deal breaker.
Cash Jordan sent you here.
Nooooo, but I have learned from him😁
I am impressed. Such small space. And that young man is making it work💯
Only a young person would fine it so.
No roommates, your own toilet, I'd take it.
He said they made things happen I’m deadddd
Fire Trap!
For someone with claustrophobia, this apartment is a nightmare but it works for a young man for a time.
I like the tiny place because it has a sink, shower, and toilet.
My walk in closet in my master bedroom is bigger than that. But to each his own. These are so interesting. 😌👌
No window? Isn't that a fire safety issue? How is this "apartment" even legal? He's basically renting a windowless bathroom.
This is a walk-in closet with a toilet added.
.
That would be the worst apartment to rent in 2020.
But I hope Grayson's doing well!
I would enjoy living in an apartment like that. It's cozy and the shower and bathroom is very convenient. It's perfect for a single young man like himself.
Legit you are paying for a view half the time, this man didnt even get that.
3:35 Feel all old-timey nostalgic hearing her refer to the MetLife building as the Pan Am building.. even though the name change was before my time.
im from hong kong that is the size of a lot of apartments in hk
In other words, he's scamming this guy. Geez. How is this legal?
I think he is renting a bathroom with storage.
I could definitely live ín the "apartment" if I were single. At least you have your own toilet and shower!! ✌🏼
ok heres the best thing about this shoebox apt.the oppertunities are off the hook..all i know is when i moved to long island then moved closer to manhattan ..i paid 700$ a month for 1 room efficency..but it was about 1 month later i was making around 2000 a month and and upgraded right outta the. efficency..that was like my starting out crib..if u fail in NYC,..then thats not the spot 4 u
Manhattan has lost its luster. For $1k a month you can move anywhere in the 5 boros and at least have a door on the john. Drove thru tonight and it was dead as a door nail. Time to move Grayson.
Aren’t you a Debbie downer. No question mark needed.
@@Person-mh6xq HAHAHA, take the subway to your next destination and tell me what you think. NYC is dead and no question mark needed.
My dog has more room for his bed area, than that tiny apartment!
If it doesn’t have a window it can’t be a legal apartment
No window but a skylight is great!
It’s legal to rent something out without a window? What???
I've seen larger dorm rooms for the same price.
$1,000 for a closet? Buddy you SERIOUSLY over paid.
I can’t believe that tiny apartment is a legal unit. Only one way to egress.
High rises have NO fire escapes. Having two internal stairwells in a building meets modern safety codes. I've rented three apartments with no fire escape or second exit. One was an official 'housing for the elderly and disabled' project where we had intrusive inspections for something-or-other every few months.
OK ...THIS WAS...the SMALLEST....not like 'cash' says his are......HERE IT IS...!!!
we made things happen .. shot out to the girl who bumped uglies in this room you doing the lords work 🤣🙌🏾
Isn't it illegal to rent out a space without a window in New York?
I guess when it's about con artist it's legal
They have no shame showing a closet for apartment like it ok to live in such inhumane condition that they are paying those con thousands per month for.. even in some poor country don't live where their toilet , kitchen and bedroom touching each other. Even if those poor live in such condition, they are not paying a fortune for it.
in Erie,Pa..i pay 495.$ for a 2 bedroom flat..and i only pay for electric..rent includes water, sewer,& gas bill..i have a large bedroom , living room & kitched and dining room this apartment is size of my bathroom
Same here and I live in Downtown Los Angeles. My kitchen is bigger than his entire place and even my kitchen has a window! 🪟
And you said it. You’re in Erie, PA. Not New York City.
Damn that's great I live in the worst city in America Jackson Mississippi and I pay 500 for a room shared bathroom no cable or internet included but it's in a house so I guess that's a plus but you have way to commute without a car that stinks you have a Great Deal in PA
@@blankblank9403: Is your "same here" referring to the OP's statement that he/she pays only $495 in rent?!?! I also live in downtown. Due to rent control, my microflat is about $700 with all utilities included.
Why is it when people put this on a trailer and park it in the forest, people call it a “tiny house” and think it’s cool, but when it’s an apartment in NYC everyone wants to be outraged?
Because of the price
Tiny houses are more livable spaces than this apartment due to their layout... They are bigger and usually have a full kitchen, living area, bedroom area, bathroom, and windows in a small space. This 'apartment' just looks like a tiny room + a bathroom. There's not even enough room for a proper cooking surface.
renting out spaces at tiny as this should be illegal
Paraphrasing another person on a similar site....this is NOT an apartment.
Its a room.
This would count as a studio flat because it has its own shower and toilet. It is one up from a bedsit, which has its own cooking and bed in the same room, and the shared facilities are the front door stairs and bathrooms and toilets.
what is the music at 2minutes?
Darude Sandstorm I love this song! 🥵
Convincing the hipsters living in a closet is cool
Just as long as you are not claustrophobic.
wow 💜💜💜
I'm too fat to visit.
My small apartment is 72 Sq Ft (9FTx10FT) and the advantage that makes this place better and bigger than many other small apartments is that it is Square without strange angles that minimize its functionality. I made 3 pices of furniture custom size 1 computer desk one shelf by my DVD collection and one for kitchen were have my small freezer oven and a microwave
9 X 10 is 90.
That's only if you forget to calculate the city taxes.
@@brianshaddock5483: Ha!
Is this even legal? No windows?
I like it
Well I guess I could make the tiny apartment work if I wanted to save money
and...he actruall rented a restroom...not an apartment😉😉 dude!!
This hovel hasn’t any windows, how could it be legal. 😱
As long as I don’t share a bathroom I’m fine.
I prefer the small one over the big one.
Dude, go to IKEA- you’ve lots of wasted space. They have a loft configuration that would free up lots of mor useable space. The shower could look much different w/o the surround and free up space too
😂😂 love how they say ol dude was PERFECT for the apartment- but yet he says he gave the dude the check BEFORE he saw it, and said “oh no what am I gonna do with this” 🤦🏽♂️ yeah, you really mean, who is perfect for us to RIP OFF
This was a scam. Always visit the place before handing over money. Not to mention, it's illegal that it's got no windows for fire escape. Still, I'm impressed with what this young man has done. He's turned nothing into something.
I can’t believe it’s legal
Why do they keep referring to these closets as apartments? It's ridiculous. Poor commentary for a city that's one big toilet.
No Windows?
people are nuts
Hmmm. How does he get fresh air with no windows?
Thats a large luxurious shower thats the most important thing a shower and ur own toilet who cares where u put your hot plate !!!
How do they call this an apartment it’s awful, sorry but should be a against the law.
This guy rented someone's bathroom.
What is the monthly for the TINY APARTMENT 😂?
With rent prices increasing drastically across the country, I'm afraid these overpriced type of closet spaces might be more common outside of Manhattan. I've been thinking of turning my 600 SQ foot apartment into a two bedroom. Good investment for roommate situation perhaps.
we have them in boston also
@@ugiboogy1111 WHERE in Boston? I'm from Woburn Massachusetts
@@im_saved_by_grace search some videos, they're on youtube. I'm personally moving into a 150 sq foot micro studio in roslindale soon. but they are all over the actual city too
This is exactly what they want you all to do. Please don't join them but go against them. The reason why those con artist are getting away with it ,is because most people say or do nothing
71 million for half of one floor or the entire building? 😦
Poor kid got ripped off for that 1100 rent.
He should have looked around but he’s young.
We made things happen 2:52 😏
Who in their right mind would want to live in NYC. I visited for Valentine's week in 1998. People kept fighting on the underground, it was terrifying. NYC is overpriced and overrated. My 3rd bedroom is bigger than his apartment, and my mortgage is only £300 a month. I'm in the UK. House prices are crazy all over Europe and North America.
It isn't an apartment.
What kind of idiot gives a landlord the money BEFORE seeing the apartment????
One word... Greed -
That is literally a prison cell, it should be illegal
You smelling yourself no way out or air after completing number 2 gross .
Wow this is f sad.
$1124 USD for the 9sq meter place which is just over 98 sq ft
Robbery! 🤦🏻♀️
A cell
Not for me.
Prison cell you pay for.
They should charge double what they are charging. The idiots will pay it
My closet is bigger
Thats a prison cell
He's lucky to have a shower and toilet
grayson looks kinda european for some reason
No windows, but luckily there’s a shower
at the end of the day you only need one bed one toilet one frig one shower and one stove
That’s true…if you don’t care about your sanity.
An American video with foreign currency now I have to stop the video to compare USD to euros🙅
Not any more worth it
This is worse than Japan
