    I think of two pillars for authentic masculinity: a good metaphor is the sun . He radiate a calm, powerful energy to everyone. Whatever you take it or not, he is like a light to people. If you ignore him, he still stand. How to be truely yourself inspite of the obstables.
    Also, he' the one who will pull up people to become a best version of themself, if the person is open to it or ask a little guidance.

      A little advice, take it or leave it. Don't say "A real man." That is such a farce and aimed at emasculating others if they don't fit your own pet description. There are levels and spectrums on everything, including masculinity. But a "Man" (REAL) is an adult Human Male! Period! I would suggest finding a different way to say things. A healthy person, including a male, exhibits what you described. And there are a plethora of other qualities one may come up with that are healthy masculinity for a man to learn.

    Thanks once again for videos like this. I will be 58 in 9 days and I had to learn what masculinity, trust and confidence is in just the last few years. So, although it is mostly younger men that have the challenges, I am one of those that had to learn in our 50's. And just so you guys know, I am still learning it and part of those things are accepting that my inner sexuality is perfectly normal and to accept who I am inwardly.

      The irony is here that all the masculine qualities that evolved in men is because that's what women look for. The mate preferences of one sex will determine the characteristics that are passed on in the other sex. Men’s behavior is, to some extent, the result of female sexual preferences. If women didn’t want to mate with masculine men, these traits would have been removed from the gene pool long ago.
      Woman looked for signs of commitment and that a man has the means to provide for her and practical needs to also be met that would benefit her and her future offspring and ensuring their survival. Women who made good mating choices were the ones who succeeded at passing on their genes. Individuals who are well adapted to their environment are more likely to survive and reproduce than those who are less well adapted. Our female ancestors also preferred male partners who could offer physical protection to them and their young which is why greater height is seen as an attractive trait.

      Unless you have a strong patriarchal leadership that puts the women in their place, that's the norm in the corporate world. Any man who's assertive, competent, holds his staff - especially female ones - to account is seen aa toxic. The only way to survive is to be as feminine as you can to fit in with the wimmin. And of course the wimmin can and go crying to the press about 'toxic work culture' if an unapologetic male boss held them accountable.

      The meaning of an organisms existence is to survive and propagate it's genetic material, the same as all other organisms. it's the reason we have all these senses. why we evolved and why you exist. Had your ancestors not procreated and ensured their off springs survival you would not be here today. Humans evolved as social creatures to ensure survival of our species. Humans evolve to live cooperatively to live in herds then communities together and this is advantageous to all the human beings in the community. It's only through cooperation and compromise that we can create the type of mutually beneficial society that we need to create in order to survive and thrive as a species. in order to achieve that humans have had to develop things like empathy, guilt, shame, remorse and we need other humans for companionship in order to thrive emotionally psychologically and even physically.
      Centuries ago humans didn't really survive past their mid 30s or 40s, many died even younger or in infancy and they didn't have time to sit around pondering on life they were more concerned with basic survival...it's only because of science, technology and health care by a small percent of geniuses that we are around much longer now. Just because humans are more intelligence with bigger brains doesn't mean we have a higher purpose than other organisms. It's only our own narcissism than makes us believe we are above basic biology. All your ancestors before you who made sacrifices were not just building up for you to live a self centred existence.
      Of course there are antisocial personalities like narcissists and psychopaths who did not develop these things(biology is not perfect) usually due to trauma, abuse and neglect in childhood, but most humans did develop empathy and a conscience and are prosocial and are able to bond and care for other humans. A society comprised entirely or even mostly of antisocial personalities would not be sustainable. Without respect for the rights of others and adherence to basic rules of decency society falls apart. Keep your Humanity because we all need it. Don't let anyone rob you of your kindness your compassion, empathy and consideration. We all need each other because without us there's nothing to build and nothing to care about. There are only selfish childish people who would literally destroy everything without even realizing they're harming themselves too.

    • @TrampolineStar

      @ Absolutely John and it’s just a trend that should and will be curbed in time by the continual sharing of videos like yours. From one teacher to another, I can see that you have the natural spark of communication that is not possible to manufacture. You have the ability to explain effectively to the males in particular and I totally get the idea of trying to wake men up before they commit to marriage but also not to dissuade them from entering relationships. Of course relationships can be beneficial and rewarding but it’s vital that young men don’t rush and keep their eyes open. The problem unfortunately is ‘young heads on old shoulders’ at the end of the day. But definitely some will benefit from these messages and those that do will be so grateful to you in later years!

    The peacocking false masculinity you described - was that Andrew Tate you were referring to? ;)

    • @john-griffin
      @john-griffin  13 днів тому +2

      There are many men in the public sphere who behave like this. I think Andrew Tate is a good example. He is a fraud. He uses his masculinity as a way to entice young men who are insecure to give him their money. Plain and simple it’s a scam.

    OK, from where does a masculine man derive his philosophy?

    • @john-griffin
      @john-griffin  14 днів тому

      Much of it comes from experience and talking with other men. Although there are some really great historical examples. Certainly Marcus Aurelius is a good one.

    Masculinity isnt toxic yet its not enough for a man. To complete a person, some other elements meanf to be in place. Its says masculinity is toxic itd just because its out of place, displeced from reality. If a person use in some ways their masculinity its more than appropriate but being in that state all the time .... take you out of realness. Thats my opinion. Masculijity is just a mask, that we meant to use sometimes it is not the essence, its not for the sake of self. If someone plays that mask all the time he is out of the balance.

      Healthy masculinity is one whose all things not just masculinity. Person of content is healthy person with mask is as much healthy as have a valuable content.

      Masculinity is having a role as mask. The more visible the mask the less content it has in real value. That's my take about masculinity. Then the content we could also divide int something that is more one way or the other.

    All true but, you aren't just describing a masculine man but rather a perfect man which doesn't exist.
    Even very masculine man with all our most of the traits you talk about will do things that go against the grain from time to time as human nature is a big pet of our lives. Sure, something to strive for but shortcomings there will inevitably be.
    I'm a very masculine man and have and still do mostly as you say but I have and still do the wrong things as well and I accept that they are wrong but sometimes nature takes over and there are limits to how strong one can be

      We’re all trying to do our best. I think the important thing is to understand what true masculinity looks like rather than what it is portrayed as in the media.

    Be Christ like. Jesus is our masculine role model. He knew what really matters. He knew how to treat all kinds of people with dignity, civility and respect. Correcting/teaching by speaking the truth in love. Righteous anger when needed.

      Zero humility.
