Big Problem For eBay Sellers Using Fedex Labels

- Do you use Fedex labels when running your shipments through eBay? If so, there is a good chance eBay has taken money from you for "adjustments" for these Fedex labels. In many cases, these "adjustments" more than double the initial quoted cost of the label effectively killing your profit on those items. In this video I go over the problem and eBay's official response to this problem.

I have a habit of taking pictures. I had an adjustment come up months ago. USPS Claimed a different weight and different size box. To their dismay I was able to show them pictures of the package against a ruler and the package on the scale. They could not scam me and had to reimburse me.
I started doing this. The problem will be getting them to look at the picture.
Never had an adjustment since 1998 until now. Fed Ex is charging me 50% more after the fact. They also show their weight is less then mine which is all the have gotten correct
Over the years I have had adjustments through ebay for both UPS and Fedex. Since switching to Pirate Ship I have not had any at all. Plus the few insurance claims I have put into Pirate Ship have been paid promptly without hassle.
I use them 99% of the time unless for a rare instance with ground advantage that ebay may be cheaper.
FedEx did a😊 $68 shipping adjustment on a $28 package we sent a few days ago! 🙃😳😂
They made a $30 extra charge to me...I disputed thru Ebay rep....was found in my favor.....he said my complaint was one of a kind...lol
@@sherrythompson8965 we called in a few days ago and the Ebay rep she would put in a dispute. Then yesterday we saw the banner on Ebay indicating the issue was impacting many people. So we’re expecting a refund 🤗

Glad I watched this one. Last week I was charged by eBay for underpaying on a label. I was originally charged $38 for a FedEx label and got a cost adjustment of $31. If we are quoted a price they should honor that.
This same thing happened to me. But they stated my 13 pound bix was 26 pounds. It was taken at 13, scanned again in the shipping chain.. then when out for delivery it was changed to 26 pounds. Something around $32 more. First time this has happened. I called FedEx, and they were awful. Then ebay. Haven't heard anything in almost a week.
I had one also for $24.97. The original email said “Weight on Label 192 oz.” “Actual Weight 19 lb”. I just figured I accidentally typed in the incorrect weight. THANK YOU for this video. I thought I was out $24.
Thank you very much! I paid for a 22 dollar label then got a correction of 31 dollars. I was a bit taken back.
Thank you for this video. I went with the discount to pass on to the buyer, but going to uncheck FedEx. I don't need the headaches.
We’ve always use pirate ship I don’t know of ever having an issue with anything and any time we’ve needed a refund or an insurance claim it’s been easy I don’t trust eBay or having a different third-party in between me and the third-party

I have been getting cost adjustments from USPS (label purchased through eBay). The crazy part is I always add extra weight or round up for my packages.
We always add extra weight to our packages, but STILL, USPS does the same extortion charge persistently; they upcharge the already weighed and labeled package by 2pounds+ and extra ounces. One time showed them photo of our scale and the weight that came and said file a survey for the issue and report to supervisor as they don't control the scales. Called Ebay, they said they cannot control what USPS does. So money is always taken from our funds for the extra shipping extortion fees. Have not used Fedex for a few years as they damaged two of our delicate items to customers by driver mishandling. We don't have that message of refunds from Ebay. Guess only sent to those who used Fedex.
I quit using FedEx a year ago after they closed their hub in my hometown. I am having issues with returns and shipping. I am shipping nearly 100% of my items USPS ground. My returns are coming back with priority labels and some in flat rate boxes. I can not understand why eBay provides a priority label when the listing only had one shipping option for USPS ground. The post office should not accept ground labels on priority boxes. I guess the customer just drops them off in a box without having a rep to scan package.

I got hit for 3 FedEx adjustments which doubled each one from $45 total to $90 total on labels from March 17th. Had to call Ebay customer service for them to undo it. I only use Ebay shipping if I need to use FedEx. More reason I should only stick to Pirate Ship USPS/UPS.
I also had this happen got a message yesterday. I forgot to call ebay about and make 3 hour video by screaming at them on the phone. 😂😂😂😂😂 Good information man.

Thats why i dont use fed ex to include driving 30 miles to nearest location. Usps for ke is like .5 a mile away.
I had the same issue with FedEx; FedEx seems to be the worse with the shipping adjustments. I stopped shipping FedEx because of these adjustments. I try to ship usps; I have never had a shipping adjustment from them. Large items I ship UPS(I have had much fewer cost adjustments with them).
Let me clarify my statement about pirate ship and Ebay for shipping. Pirate ship is obviously a third-party but their job is to make sure shipping is easy. If they don’t do their job, they don’t have a business. Ebay job is to connect sellers to buyers and shipping is something they just want to do and they proven they have glitches in thestuff that they are supposed to do there’s no reason to trust that they would do another job better than somebody who only does that job

I keep getting overcharged over and over. Even though my packages info is exact. We always round up weight and dimensions. We are being charged $1- $50 more for each item shipped. I was told today that we will not be refunded because the labels are an estimate
We can’t tell our buyers that. They are selling a label at a set price on their site. But I’m sure there is something written in their TOS that legally allows them to get away with it. Best bet is to find a local FedEx rep in your area and set up a negotiated rate like we did. You will get lower DIMM rates and as long as you are shipping only in cardboard boxes with correct dimensions/weights you will not see these adjustments.
What a drag! I have taken heavier boxes to my local shipping center to be weighed, (only have small scales at home) and then knew the exact weight. It's one reason why I no longer ship large or heavy items.
Getting burned by FedEx surcharges is a reseller rite of passage. This recent glitch is just a new twist on an old tale. I quit dealing with those crooks years ago. I would rather pay a little more for another service, and be insured against their surprises.
Ebay forces using Fed ex to send to their authentication center , the nearest fed ex hub is 20 miles .. they have drop boxes everywhere but i want to know its all good. Sounds to me there are some contract issues going on between eBay and Fed Ex.

Shipped an envelope to a friend's PO BOX. Turns out that FedEx doesn't deliver to PO Boxes. They printed the ticket and picked it up, shipped it all over the country and dinged my account for almost 70 dollars. Needless to say, I'm going to devote some attention to this.
I have a terrible feeling just walking in the door. Often rude. Often say my boxes are not good enough and I have to let them rebox the item. I'm trying not to use them. I don't have these issues anywhere else.

I had several large items show crazy good prices to the buyer & me only to have them doubled later just like you said. Oh I was hot! 😡🔥 We already have Fed Ex daily pickup because of our non-eBay business, so it was convenient. I sure hope we get our “glitch” money back, otherwise nothing will get Fed Ex via eBay ever again!!!
This happened to us as well 16 package was double charged and billed another 16. They assume you will never call and complain and not worth the time. It’s. A major money grab again, imagine how many people are getting whacked. eBay is a sinking ship. We are down over 21% this year and sell across all categories. No place to hide here. eBay needs to increase the funds for them coming in, i am sure they have done this to everyone.
You can ship anything under 130” circumference with usps.
Also, recently, ups have also started doing adjustments but not as much as fedex. The best option is to usps they will never adjust your price. Ups over fedex though.
I had this problem for the first time this week. First time in 20 years.
Yeah they pulled this crap on me a couple times. 2 weeks after delivery hit me with charges with UPS. Then I used the UPS Store pack and ship for an auction house and the package arrived with broken porelain items the packed togeth without protection, and then fought me on inurance claim. I will never use UPS again.

FedEx has gone downhill I avoid using them.
What are you on about? UPS rates are going up while their on time delivery rates are going down. FedEx has lower damage rates, shipping fees and delivers nearly 99% on time. UPS, after the threat to strike, fired 12,000 managers and admin to pay unionized workers more, and they're imploding. Their service rate is down below 97%!! Meaning your package is 3x more likely to be late with UPS. It's 20% more likely to be damaged.
I get adjustments (for more money) from UPS on long narrow Shipping Tubes. I sell a lot of posters. EDIT: Just Learned that my issue was the round tubes. UPS and FedEx (not sure about the post office) don't like anything that can roll off their automated sorting conveyor. They have both instituted surcharges for round items, like a round tube. I will have to take the tube and pack them inside a square box, like a golf club box.
I was told at the UPS shipping center , they round up one whole inch on long packages...I had one at 46" length, they rounded it up to 47"..if you have one at 47 " it could possibly go over their 48"limit where the price jumps way up ! Almost 50 dollars retail. The triangular boxes are easy to make and stronger but again round up on all measurements to the next inch and if you use calculated enter 2 inches over , then adjust it when it sells ...personally I think I'm going to check out Pirate Ship, like someone else commented they are in the business of shipping..as eBay has some very wrong information that's costing sellers allot of headaches and $$$$
I use to use the priority mail triangle boxes for posters….are those still a thing? Would those avoid the round up charge?

@@jenaton5767 yes USPS still uses the Triangle box but its Priority cost shipping only, you can order them from USPS but their rates jumped way up on long boxes so its no longer economically a good option. UPS is really the cheapest option on long dimensions and as long as you stay under 46 inches its reasonable. I buy a box from Home Depot for 4.50 and can make 3 or 4 boxes out of one. There is a good video on youtube on how to do this , its easy to do once you play around with some layout measurements.
I sell the same thing over and over with same size boxes. Fedex turned a $24 shipment into $96. This is the 3rd time that I was hit hard within a year. Going on two weeks now and still no refund as promised by ebay. Getting scammed by them for $2 to $4 is a weekly thing.
On the "amounts in red", the so-called adjustment and money now taken, .... Did ebay charge you the ebay fee on that adjustment? And if so, was that fee returned?

They charged me $76. + shipping. But when i shipped and printed label it was only $23. Something.....
This is no joke! Fed Ex ripped me off and ran away! I had a set of blow molds that I sent in 2 shipments, adjusted it by an ounce to cause havoc, and charged me over $450 extra. Ebay rep said I would be refunded probably in 10 days time and this was in late November. So furious and have grown tired of fighting this battle to help me fight Fed Ex and their vindictive ways. I really want my money back because it was false! I ran those weights and measures many times...Need help.

This just happened to me. The only 2 items I've shipped with Fed ex I go hit with $45 of additional charges taken from my bank account. I will never use Fedex again.

Every time I’ve used fedex for shipping or a company uses them to deliver to me, my Irene wind up missing. It’s really bad up here in central California.
Yes! Fed Ex lost precious pictures (negatives) we had filmed in Alaska of our babies. They never found them, lost forever! And they reimpursed us $50. smh Have not & Will Not use Fed Ex again.

I personally don't think this is a glitch. FedEx has got to be doing this crap on purpose! They've been doing it for years... they've just stepped it up a notch hoping that most sellers don't pay close enough attention to the notifications.😒
This is very true, fedex has been stealing tons of my money, not even worth buying fedex labels unless you use their boxes.

Usps . Ups and fedex. The all have say i underpaid. It's so frustrating.
This is sad! Just more of our time being spent having to watch our backs and have to make sure we're not getting taken advantage of! I'm just not going to use Fed Ex at all for shipping.

Not just an eBay issue. FedEx is the only carrier to ever assess me cost adjustments/surcharges, no matter the platform. Never evrr one from USPS or UPS. I avoid shippIng FedEx whenever possible. They are crooks. And you pay them $4 a day for the privilege?

Because for big and heavy packages they are the best option by far. Try sending a 45lb box across the country
To be clear.. FedEx took the funds from you. Ebay is just the middle man. Your gripe should be with FedEx. Ebay only passed on the billing from their partner as they would any other transaction.

Ive used FedEx exclusively for larger items which is 99% of what i sell and ive NEVER had an issue. Maybe you all should buy a decent scale and learn how to measure.
Just wait its going to happen to you. My scale and measurements are accurate. When I drop a package off at Fedex I put it on the their scale and its always less then what I claim. When they adjust the price its always double. I ship large items so the price goes from $25 to $50. This has been going on for years and appears to be exclusive to Fedex. USPS adjusted a price once and it was only about $1. UPS never has but they're a little higher in price then Fedex.
It happened to me..I called Ebay...$30 back to me....The rep said it was first of kind complaint..LOL.....THEY ADDED 17OZ TO MY SHIPMENT....I had already added 10.....but, I had wrapped my box in gray poly because it was a build a box which I had done before with no issues.....the 17oz then inspired FedEx to pop it up to 23lbs, as opposed to 10.10...I told the rep..NO MORE FED EX......Ground advantage.....My buyers pay shipping.
