Mitsunari was like Zhong Hui from Dynasty warriors very smart with tactics but people didn't like. The battle of Sekigahara was the epitome of betrayal (Kikawa, Mori, Wakisaka and Kobayakawa) with allies like these who needs enemies
Yeah he was but he was incredibly loyal to Hideaway and the Toyotomi which should have earned him a ton of respect but it didn't. Kiyomasa and Masanori both confuse me like they either didn't think Leyasu would overthrown the Toyotomi or were ok with that. Like both characters have scenes after Mitsunari is killed that show shock Leyasu would overthrow the Toyotomi.
I would say he more like jiang wei Zhong hui want to take over the world and become the ruler himself Mitsunari just want to protect the legacy of nobunaga and hideyoshi just like how Jiang wei want to protect the legacy of liu bei and zhuge Liang
@@Bastion70 They thought Tokugawa was trying to prevent another Hideyoshi from usurping power. Because everyone believed Ieyasu to be very loyal. He defended the Oda when Hideyoshi tried to take over and was named as one of the five regents. Ieyasu in reality, was always scheming to take stuff over. A lot of Toyotomi loyalists got fooled by him. The Mori especially, dealt the death blow to Mitsunari. They were the third largest clan in Japan and a major power. They had a secret talk with the Tokugawa to be neutral in the conflict in exchange for no loss of land/resources. Then when Ieyasu won, the Mori got cut down. When the Mori supported the Toyotomi at Osaka, they were reduced to one province, which was not even their home province. Then... 200 years later, they came back and destroyed the Tokugawa shogunate with other western forces. Which also included the Shimazu clan, also cut down by the Tokugawa.
Man SW4 Western Army side was a perfect fit for this battle. You feel the odds stacked against Mitsunari as he has his last stand against the Tokugawa for control even though he knows he's completely outnumbered
Was he though I've seen several places say if not for Kobyakawa betraying the western army he would have won. As apparently he had 30,000 men. I wonder too though would the Shimazu raid worked or was Mitsunari right to turn down the idea. The Eastern army marched a long way to make it to Sekigahara and were somewhat fatigued so to me it seemed like a good idea especially by a strong Shimazu force but would Leyasu have a counter in place?
@@Bastion70 War is seldom a "if this happened then they win" sort of thing. However, you are correct in that the perfect alignment of unfortunate things happened to screw Mitsunari over (granted, he DID have the benefit of Tokugawa's son being delayed by the Sanada, which did help even up the odds). While the Shimazu night raid more than likely would've helped, it more than likely depends on how successful the raid itself was (though it probably couldn't have hurt to try it given the circumstances). I kinda get why Mitsunari didn't go along with it (I'm assuming he didn't want to split his army and tip his hand to Ieyasu), but it was in the end a net negative for him to avoid trying it. Once that guy on the heights turned on him and the Shimazu refused to engage, that was basically the end for the Western Army (a shame considering the efforts put in by others like the Uesugi and Sanada)
SW2 sekigahara kind of sucks imo for such a decisive battle, SW4 western army is the best, most of the SW3 (Katana-Chronicles) themes are pretty good too
Eh I kinda disagree on that front. Then again SW has had a track record of making most of its climactic/decisive battles have calmer soundtracks unlike Dynasty Warriors.
Surging Chaos Western Army: Epic Last Stand Surging Chaos Eastern Army: This Fight is already over... Where is the Honor in just slaughtering a Already beaten enemy?
If mitsunari would have won this japan's capital would have been osaka. Osaka is more beautifull in my experience, tokyo is more like too much technology and toyoko kids.
Mitsunari: The enemy is weak. Sakon, there’s no reason for you to be here.
Sakon: It’s dangerous to judge a book by it’s cover.
