5. “I can see that you are [insert emotion]”
6. “That’s an interesting perspective”
7. Start to have power (general boundary-setting advice, not a phrase)
8. “I’m choosing not to respond to that”

SLAY! Using your techniques. Trying to parent and make changes is a full time job, the mother is an inecure destructive narcissist. Why is this not diagnosed, if some has depression from an abusive relationship it gets labeled but not the destructive narcissist

I've been at the point where I just don't care about my narcissist, haven't cared for the last few years. I am using him for his money same as he's using me for running a efficient household, BUT now I started getting my retirement fund. It's not as much as I would like but it is what it is. Just got my first one a few days ago, just waiting to see if his behavior changes. I'm allowing myself to use my first 3 "checks" to get things I, we want, like I need some underwear 😁, some teaspoons, etc. When my 4th "check" I am NOT spending it!!! I need to save to get a car, all part of my plan. BUT because it's a small amount, I'm going to get my son to be able to find better job. I've been planning this for awhile. I just have to wait till that 4th check to see if his (narcissist) behavior changes. Wish me luck, & keep me in your prayers! 😁👍

I NEVER say "I'm sorry" for ANYTHING to a narcissist. Even if I legitimately am sorry. Those are words they will never hear from me.
If you say "I'm sorry you feel that way"...
You can mean "You feel the way you feel, and it's your right to do so."
Or you can mean "It is unfortunate that you feel that way, and I empathize with you on this"
But what a narcissist hears when the words "I'm sorry" is said to them for ANY reason: "I am sorry that I hurt you or disagreed with you. I had absolutely no right to do so. I have clearly wronged you by doing so, and I accept full responsivity for everything and I admit that you are in NO WAY responsible for any of it. I deserve to be treated like dirt, and you have every right to treat me badly for the blatant wrong I have done to you due to the lack of my intelligence, empathy, caring and regard for others. I do apologize to you for my stupid behavour, and I know I don't deserve your forgiveness for the wrong I have clearly done to you, the victim of my toxic behaviour."
I NEVER say anything involving "I am sorry" to a narcissist, even if it is just acknowledging a situation, or if they even deserve an apology.

I'll use some of these phrases, and let you know how they work for me. It must be hard when you're In a workplace situation..one time I heard a woman say, wow I can see you definitely worked really hard on that. She disagreed with him but it seemed like she was tiptoeing..by doing that it seemed like she was maintaining her dignity and her truth while trying to remain neutral..

How can I get full custody in court Mam? My wife is very dangerous narcissist. I have not applied for divorce yet.
Following. I havent started divorce yet either and what holds me back is worrying about custody. Any time alone time with kids is damaging.

When I implemented these tactics it resulted in a full scale character attack in a lengthy and mean email. There was probably only one piece of truth in it. I am “out of shape”. I work out as much as I can with all I’ve got going on. I know I’m fatter than when I was younger. But after years of therapy and breaking free from intimate contact with narcissists I’ve actually started to love and like myself. I find this self love is the best defense against the narcissist’s 😢 meanness. Slay, Slay, Slay! I slayed him but he tried to slay me back. When I see him in this tiny town we live in I just avert eye contact and keep going about my business. The only problem is that his oldest daughter and my daughter are “best friends” and children who are actual more adult than he is acting. I can’t hardly believe how cute and sweet she is(probably got it from mom 😉). This is what breaks my heart the most…the damage to children that narcs invoke. You can’t expect to invite yourself over, never want to have a valid relationship, grab someone’s ass and maintain a connection with that person. Totally out of line!

@@RebeccaZungEsq ALL OF IT.. but when you say “ I’m choosing not to respond to that” I love that because 1. They can’t say you didn’t RESPOND and 2. You then have the upper hand.. in a good way( it’s letting them know, if anything, that you yourself know you that YOU actually have a CHOICE TO RESPOND. A lot of times manipulators/narcissists think they have you strong armed to respond or react and will gaslight you coming and going. What you have to do is show them that THEY DON ‘T CONTROL YOUR AUTONOMY - they don’t get that RIGHT
