I have also noticed some pretty impressive younger people coming up in politics, science, art, etc., who have interesting new ideas and have solutions they want to implement for many of our ills. No, I agree with you. As a mom of 4 kids (23, 20, 18, and 15) I feel like this younger generation is very "all about me". If they wanna do it, they should be able to. So many teens/ young adults don't seem to care how things they do or say affect other people. And if anything is said to them about it, it's "offensive". I love my kiddos like crazy, but yes, society seems to be changing.

If you’re alarmed about the younger generation, it’s nothing new: the generation before you was concerned about you, too. I think it’s just you changing and evolving, as well as your discomfort with the different way that the younger generation expresses itself. For contrast, think of how you were at 18 or 19 or early 20’s, and how you viewed people in their 30’s: with that in mind, do you still think that as someone in your 30’s you are still part of the 20’s group? If tiktok is bothering you, feel free not to watch: social media is definitely optional.

They are coming off not "old sounding" but stuck-up as if they're better than others or jealous bc they can't associate themselves to having fun. Tik Tok is not supposed to serve society as in mass producing of things but to help ppl gain different perspectives, find others who relate to them and share experiences. Props for being a keto channel that admits to eating some carbs here and there. So many channels act like its blasphemy to even think about having a banana lol
I did keto for 2 years strict and gained around 20lbs in that time. I would eat over 1000 calories of beef and eggs for a meal and still be hungry. I was waiting for the "switch" to happen where I'm supposed to adapt and feel satiated on less food volume. But it never happened. Switched to having a lot of fruit, sweet potatoes and rice, with leaner cuts of meat and now I don't feel so food focused all the time. The weight I gained from keto came off easily. Carbs are not the devil

Even though, I truly thank Keto for being the only diet to help get me out of type 2 diabetes, it's not the easiest diet for your body to adapt to and people making it seem like your body will correct itself in a few weeks on Keto is disingenuous and frustrating, so thanks for your comment 🙏

Humans are genetically predisposed to become nostalgic about their youth; like to compare their experience as better. The kids today will do the exact same thing to the kids in the future. Your only option to be cool, is to not compare. Love and support the kids. They don't have your experience, they have theirs. Both are valid.

Regarding the youth. Well things are different than when we were teens. Things are a lot different. The planet is dying and we "old" people don't do enough to stop it, not even enough to stick to the status quo. The kids see that their twenties will be dramatically different to our twenties and they behave according to the circumstances. I can't blame them.

  • @1976mcfarlane
    @1976mcfarlane 2 роки тому +2

I absolutely think that there's something different about current times and the youth. The agenda is to dumb down the citizens and of course they use the school system for that. Common core is hugely an issue. I have a 24-year-old a 20 year old and an 18-year-old. I watched common core be implemented. My husband who has two college degrees and steller at math could not help my last son with his math. It's that bad. The kids nowadays are bombarded by Idiocracy, social media ,television programs and the very worst is the current music.
    God help us 🤣
If I had to do it all over again I would homeschool my kids in a heartbeat.

My husband (52) and son (26) are triathletes and have been serious about the past 5-7 years. They train and run together. Husband was keto for 4 years, son ate whatever he wanted.Husband is able to keep up with our son. They run everything from tri's with 5k.s to doing a 50k trail run . Both of them almost always finish within a few minutes of each other. also they always finish within the top 10 of most races for their ages,so pretty high level athletes for both. Husband just went off keto a few weeks ago and they have a 30k in 2 weeks, so we will see how it goes without being keto. Telling you all of this to say keto vs. a normal.american diet has not made much of a difference in these 2(yes I am factoring in age and diet, husband had run since high school when he ate SAD). We will really see now that husband is eating carbs again if it makes a difference in his times when they run the 30k in 2 weeks.

I totally agree with you on the generational stuff. I’ve been noticing this too. I went back to college at age 29 and just graduated at age 33, and I could not connect with the younger generations in my class at all. Too much going on with their entitled attitudes and they also lack social skills. Now that I’m in my new career, I’m still working with some of the younger generations and it’s still the same problems with their generation. They want everything without understanding how to work for it and expecting things to be handed to them. I don’t have kids yet, but I agree I’m afraid for my future kids. I’m trying to figure out how I will offset this problem with the future generations. First and foremost, no social media. Besides UA-cam, my husband and I got rid of our social media accounts and could not be happier. I feel like our generation has to step in to help the younger ones grow a bit more and develop a better understanding for people and life. It’s not going to be easy that’s for sure.

    2. Be vigilant and enforce rules AND respect!
    3. Our little ones ARE smart! They know when you’re tired and they will test your love and vigilance.
    4. The kids love you and are always watching, even when you don’t think they are. You are their best example of how to act when they grow up. Be the person you want your babies to develop into!
    By the way...adorable shirt!!! 🥰

Yes, no matter how young or old. My son is going on a trip for four days that will stretch his limited budget. When I told him I was going to give him some spending money so he didn't have to pinch every penny, he was so grateful and thrilled......he's 46.

So proud of you for continuing to run..happy that the trails are easier on your knees..very happy that Mehga is feeling better..the boys are so happy..as for generational youth..I will be 60 in September...enjoy your 30s..LOL...I really miss the 70s..where being outdoors in that Michigan air was the place for entertainment..the doors were never locked..and I would never dare have the attitude that some of the youth of this generation have..things have really changed..and I don't like it..you are the biggest influence your boys will have in life...be "active" in their lives..find your balance in family and work..if your not there..they won't learn what you want them too..rules are a display of love..and having Mom stay at home is a good thing! And please tell Mehga..that in the early 1900's..pink was considered the best masculine color for boys...it's just faded red... :)

I’ve had to quit Keto because I do not have a gallbladder, even though it was taken out 15 years ago so I have been keto for the past 2.5 years, the high fat macros in keto has caused a bile stone to gradually form, which when it blocks a bile duct, gives pain symptoms like a heart attack or a spasm of the esophagus. Imagine an anaconda squeezing your midriff and back, shortness of breath, sweating, , etc. So now, I’m waiting to be scoped via ERCP since I have a pacemaker and cannot get a MRI to determine just where the bile stone is to have it removed. So, now it’s going to be low fat, low carb for me. Love your videos and your little family! God Bless and I’m glad Megha is feeling better.

Feeling amused that I was about to comment about how excited I was to see them after so long when I noticed this is a common theme in the comments, so my question is, what alerted everyone to this video, (because even though I am subscribed, this is the first notification that auto played from KetoConnect for me ❤️)? Also, to answer your question Matt (regarding the DIFFERENCES/LEVELS OF RESPECT of the next generation) I ask myself this very same question all the time as a 32 -year-old mother of an 11-year-old tiktok-over-engager. Wow wow wow! Please share any sensible answers on a future video. I don't know which answer is better to hear- that we are actually old or the kiddos are actually intentionally disrespectful.

I don't have an account, but some of the reels I see of these "A-ha moments" of the way to do things or hacks being taught are some common sense things lol

The tiktok generation is lost. I’m talking about identity. They don’t know who they are and they’re trying to hard to be someone they aren’t. Unfortunately that’s the truth. But until they trust in God, the creator of mankind, they will not find themselves.

As someone who is part of that "tik tok" generation (born in Nov. 2000) I think every generation is going to come with pros and cons. I can imagine as we get older, most people will worry that generations after us are "worse" than us, so i think it's just a cycle of getting older.
That being said, I don't think our, or any, generation is "perfect" and I have seen some comments about this generation being "all about me." I can see that point of view as I think we have been all about prioritizing and putting ourself first to have the best mental and physical health we can have. There's that saying, "if you can't love yourself, how can you love other people?" (Although, I think that saying has also been disagreed with a good chunk of our generation and deemed as "toxic posititvity.")
I genuinely don't think we collictively intend to appear selfish, but I do agree that it is important to remain in touch and appreciative of the people you know and not always do things for yourself/isolate yourself. Human interaction is important especially with what we all went through with Corona.
Sorry for this essay of a comment, but hopefully people can see this point of view and feel free to reply/leave a question about me being a Gen Z person. 😌

I'm Gen X - we were supposed to be the worst... apathetic, unmotivated, pessimistic. and they have critisized every genertation following in similar ways (by the way- older people thought boomers were spoiled) so having said that, take what i say with a grain of salt - I like the younger people of today, but what i see that troubles me is a lack of motivation for independence.

The problem is more the degradation of society than just a group of individuals. The problems we have in the States echo around the world, in different phases. To get back on track, we all need to work together for the common good.
