This is so much better than our real anthem, I’m actually mad now 0:10 I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THERE WERE MULTIPLE VERSES! AND IM CANADIAN! O Canada! Our home and native land! True patriot love in all thy sons command. With glowing hearts we see thee rise, The True North strong and free! From far and wide, O Canada, We stand on guard for thee. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada! Where pines and maples grow. Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow. How dear to us thy broad domain, From East to Western Sea, Thou land of hope for all who toil! Thou True North, strong and free! God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise, To keep thee steadfast through the years From East to Western Sea, Our own beloved native land! Our True North, strong and free! God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer, Hold our dominion within thy loving care; Help us to find, O God, in thee A lasting, rich reward, As waiting for the Better Day, We ever stand on guard. God keep our land glorious and free! O Canada, we stand on guard for thee. O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
Without Googling, I'm guessing they changed the name during one of the World Wars? That was the case with Nordegg, AB. Its name was Brazeau for a while.
I was a bit confused when you sang: Wir halten die Wacht dir Treu, I immediately thought it must be Die Wacht am Rhein, I do not know why. But all in all a beautufull version. Did you wrotte the lyrics by yourself or are they from an old book?
bit of context lol: my comment is a response to all of the backlash ive been seeing on IG about the anthem being translated into punjabi. even sikh people are saying they're embarrassed etc. but then you look at the comments in videos like this and they're all positive. canada is a multicultural place with people from all over the world. translating the anthem into your native language is a beautiful bridge of cultures, regardless of the language. it shows how diverse we are as canadians. the beauty of this country is that we all have different background and live here together, sharing our different cultures and becoming closer as a result.
Very nice!

This must be the anthem of Kitchener (formerly Berlin), Ontario!

The first verse is from a book, the second to fourth verses I wrote them.

It is actually Kanada in German
In the earliest written forms of this translation, it is written as "Canada".
It's a translation of the English lyrics, not the French ones ... 😢
Quebec if it was colonized by the Germans instead of the French:
This is just a translation from the english lyrics. The french lyrics are really differents.
Canada in Weltreich in a nutshell
If Canada didn't stress test the Geneva convention.
