This might be a " reaping what you sow " situation going on with Kirk Franklin and it is his cross he must carry . If Kirk Franklin has prayed on the problem between him and his son and God didn't resolve it then maybe , just maybe , that the problem continues to exist because God wants it to be for some " mysterious " reason . I just want to make sure people know the words we call curse words today aren't the cursing the bible is talking about right. The hebrews who wrote the bible didn't speak English. Also when the bible says thou shalt not curse, it wasn't talking about a word. It was talking about an actual curse, like praying to God or a demon to bring misfortune to another person.
Really the worse modern English curse word you can say to someone is go to Hell, or God Damn you! Because when you tell a person to go to Hell you are saying I curse your soul to the place that is far away from the light of God. IE a actual curse. Kirk, I am a Christian and don't curse at all. However, I have a 26 year old son. One time, when he was about 22, he disrespected me and because it wasn't in my nature to curse..I didn't. However, I didn't know that killing was in my nature either and he had about 3 seconds to remove himself from my presence, because somebody was about to die. And it wasn't me! These kids can take you there and Kirk, you owe us nothing. I love you and will continue to support you.

In hearing this story I'm reminded of how we as a culture no longer know what it means to "HONOR" someone. Genesis 9 talks about how Ham walked in on his father Noah being naked and drunk and ran to tell his other brothers about it. But his brothers, Shem and Japheth, went in to cover their father but would not even look at him. Instead they made a decision to HONOR their father by walking in backwards to cover him in order to avoid seeing his nakedness. In this age we are so quick to show and share the nakedness and downfalls of others. Our hearts have become so perverted that we actually hunger to see someone else become devoured. Being a Christian does not mean perfection; it means having a personal relationship with Christ. And just like all relationships, we grow and mature in certain areas over time as we renew our minds. But our perfection is not in how good we are, its in and will always be in Jesus. This is not about condoning mistakes but its just about extending others the same grace that Jesus has extended to us all. Its about honoring and loving one another. If we could stop placing men on pedestals of perfection as though they were God and if we could stop being so hypocritical, then just maybe when stories like this hit, it would not be such big news after all.

I'm not a parent, but as a kid who has felt hurt this is a good lesson on how to (and how not to) handle things. No matter how I've felt, I've never yelled or cursed at my parents. Discussions may have gotten heated, but nothing was put on blast. After watching this, and other commentaries, it has put me in check even more to maintain a mature approach to conversations with my parents for those times I might have wanted to react to resentment and bitterness. I'm sure there were also times my parents wanted to strangle me, and thankfully it didn't go that way either. 😁

So ok for parents to bully, verbally, mentally, spiritually. and physically to abuse their children and the child is just supposed to take it and suffer in silence. It's one thing to discipline your child it's another to abuse.
