What a great day that was, nice video Motowaifu, you had a an action packed day! Your excitement is contagious! 🤪 I was surprised to see myself on the edit, it was great to meet you there for the first time and pleased we had longer to chat at The Women in Motorcycling Exhibition! Keep up the good work 🙏
It's great to see so many more females taking up biking and the enjoyment it can bring! Small story, but a friend of mine years and years ago, was very depressed and had severe low self esteem and very little, to no confidence in herself! She was going to therapy and on anti depressants (Which is totally fine) but they wasn't working for her! So on her 20th birthday, her late Nan, who had been riding bikes since she was 18, decided to take her on a bike and the rest is history. My friend is now 35, emigrated to Australia and she hasn't looked back since! Biking became her therapy and it's how she met her husband too! She rode all over South America in that time and India also, which she said is a fucking nightmare lol. The best part though for me is, as a guy, I saw the sexism and just complete shithousery she had to deal with when she first started out and how she never let it get to her and made her more determined to enjoy motorcycles and that very unique feel it brings. On the flipside, I have also seen how awesome the bike community is and how welcoming they where to her and every other biker out there, so to see more females riding, imo, it can only ever be a good thing for the community, coz it literally saves lives! Sorry for the not so short story.... Great video btw lol
That's a beautiful story, tysm for sharing it with me. ❤️ The sexism in the community is extremely real, working in the bike industry I deal with it everyday and sometimes its really really hard. Just small comments like "that's your bike? A bit big for you isn't it?" Don't sound that bad - but when it's said on the daily, it can be demotivating. But seeing this day and all the other active women just getting on with it, it really boosted my energies. It was an amazing day out with friends who are so accepting. ❤️ hope you have an awesome day, that story made me smile. 🤗
@@MotoWaifu It's my absolute pleasure Waifu! And I understand what you mean too about the fact sexism is still an issue, but as a guy, I can respect that I haven't had to deal with that or anything close to that level. But that's why I think girls like yourself and many others are so important to changing the narrative and you have! I love bikes... Have done since I was 14-15. I'm 30 now, but have never made the jump to a motorcycle! In that time though, I have seen the female biking community triple in size and it's only growing! It reminds me of when people said girls couldn't game or they where judged for enjoying sport and what not! I do think us men have a responsibility to call out misogynists and help promote exclusivity, coz bikers have enough to worry about, than having to deal with someone throwing subtle sexism around too! But Laura, you have an amazing day and keep inspiring with the videos! All the best!
That looked soooo fun! Really makes me wanna get a bike now haha. I could have added another 1 to the world record. Also I recently visited that quarry too, it’s so cool isn’t it! There were bikers there when I went as well 😊
