Lyrics:
If it seems like I've been lost
In let's remember
If you think I'm feeling older
And missing my younger days
Oh, then you should have known me much better
'Cause my past is something that never
Got in my way
Oh no
Still I would not be here now
If I never had the hunger
And I'm not ashamed to say
The wild boys were my friends
Oh
'Cause I never felt the desire
'Til their music set me on fire
And then I was saved, yeah
That's why I'm keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith

"the good ole days werent always good, and tomorrows not as bad as it seems" beautiful lyrics
EXACTLY. there’s too many people (especially older people) who are suckers for nostalgia. change is the only given in this world, and it is important to embrace it when it happens as opposed to stubbornly grasping onto a time/place/event that will never happen again
Absoluteamente , paisano 🇮🇹 Molto Bene 🇮🇹 Salute 🇮🇹
I lift this quote all the time
“Yesterday’s just a memory, and tomorrow is never what it’s supposed to be” from the “Jester”
And you gotta telling yourself
Billy getting permission before approaching the bench makes this automatically more realistic than most courtroom dramas
He was very polite.
He didn’t ask, the judge told him to approach.
I like how the courtroom was set up like a jukebox.
Less of a joke than that televised, paid drama recently by Amber Heard and Johnny Depp... What a farce and timed distraction for the masses.
someone get legaleagle on this
All of Billy Joel's music tells stories. His videos bring them to life.
Hsksksiauueləəuəeu
ACE..!
Ñlñ
Him and Ferris Beuler got that showman kind of vibe
Indeed, they are a perfect compliment to his shitty, cheeseball music. Pure nauseating schlock.
Billy Joel has the unique talent of voicing all the frustrations of life, in an upbeat and enjoyable way. A very rare skill, in any time period. A true legend for all times.
A real jester lol
AGREE🎉
Well put ...uncanny ability to depict life's follies ups and downs true legend

His song "Your Only Human," is exactly your comment.
What a real voice sounds like without auto tune. Beautiful and imperfect.
@Billy Joel for anyone who doesn't realize that this is a scam, it is. there's no verified thing, plus, why would *the* billy joel want your home address?
Yo billy joel hmu and ill give u dat address
It's called talent; what modern "singers" don't have!
yeah billy joel he sounded great back in the day he still dose but his voice of singing has changed to a bit more country a little bit
"imperfect"? how dare you?
"Lost a lot of fights but it taught me how to lose okay." This is the single most endearingly optimistic thing I've ever heard.
I am sure he wouldn't have written it otherwise.
@@jamesgilmore8256 Thanks for bringing me back here, I'd completely forgotten about this comment. I was 18 when I wrote it and my music taste has greatly shifted from Billy Joel since then.
@@jarltrippin But you won't forget. You learn much more from your losses than your wins, so you know more than you did before, except it's hard to brag about it.
@MILES DAVIES I think that was meant as oxymoronic
BTW, does that reporter put out? She is kinda cute.
Billy was a boxer as a kid because he was picked on for going to piano lessons at a ballet teacher.
I’ve kept the faith all though chemotherapy im 14 years out
Fuck yeah!

Me too. Chemo and immunotherapy from 2016 to 2018 for Lymphoma cancer. Now I totally disabled from the chemo messing up my heart really bad. But I am still kicking.
Hankering for a Billy Joel night! 2024🎉!!
Who doesn't Looooooove Billy?
Love love love him! 👍🏾❤
His drummer. Watched a video where his long-time drummer described Billy as unkind and had taken advantage of the drummer financially.
One thing is for sure.."Justice is not blind or deaf"..she's defending Mr.Joel's music and he's still "Keeping The Faith".
I've noticed that every Billy Joel music video is like a small movie. it's classy.
VERY GOO OBSERVATION
All billy joel music reminds me younger days when you wait grown up now older look back years past i still oldies music
the early/mid 80s all the music videos were like that for the most part. But Billy Joel's were some of the very best.
I listen then all the time
Ryusuta how about a Billy Joel movie that is basically his life told via the songs he wrote and call it “Joel”
"The good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems;" keep the faith that there is hope for the future!
My deceased Nam' vet husband met Billy Joel in a bar, either NYC or Phillie, back when he was in the Army home on leave during the Vietnam war, in his army uniform. Billy Joel came up to the bar and had a drink with him and John told him "You're gonna make it big one day kiddo". Boy was he right !!! Love your music and vids BJ --- keep on rockin.
@Billy Joel You're❤🩹 always an upper for me. Thanks with love and take care please.
PS I'm keepin' the faith baby
Lucky story and Lucky uncle
I was 12 years old when this came out, back when music video's made sense and jams were universal. Billy Joel told life stories in his music and it never gets old. I miss this era of life and music, now I'm going to go call my partners from back in the day, smile, laugh, cry and reminisce, thanks Billy !!!
In 1983 I was 12 too. Great memories.
I was ten years old when this song came out in 1983 and my baby brother was born. God The 80's was a Wonderful Time to grow up 🙏
That’s the real king folks ..
Billy Joel is easily my favorite lyricist, almost every line from this song is worthy of being quoted.
lost alot of fights but it taught me how to lose OK....damn if people would only have this mentality
Big Serb me too, but the important thing is to never let anyone tread on you
Bad things now kids aren't allowed to fight,if they do,even in middle or high school, its an assault charge, cops have to be called, its the standard policy,
@Daniel Johnston Exactly, couldn't have said it better myself !
@Daniel Johnston ok boomer
@@TheLifeOfNurse okay biter
Nothing brings me more joy than watching Billy awkwardly dance
oh my gosh its the best!! and that snep face in the beginning of "All For Leyna" gets me giggling every time
nice
Keep the faith, everyone!
The "i am an innocent man" in the backround in the beginning is a perfect touch. People don't give this song enough credit cause of the upbeat 50s sound but these lyrics are fantastic. One of my favorite Billy songs
This song is so true to life.
Billy Joel is the best!
up until 1982, I agree, but not this crap.

Now This Is What You Call Music. Long Live The 80s
which is why i only play 80s Joel
Yeah but this whole album was based off the music of Billy’s youth so the late 50s/ early 60s. I love all of his catalogue tho.
I remember listening to this song when I was 15 years old in high school. Today I still love this song ❤
Billy joel doesn't get the credit he deserves
I hate the idea of arguing on the Internet, but I’d argue that with his quarter of a billion dollars, and the fact that he’s still selling out MSG… I think he does. That said, I understand your sentiment and agree that now-a-days, in my opinion, not enough people still listen to his music.
❤more power to you ! B.J.! Thanks for loving us - ❤
Maybe 80s joel
Billy always had a story to tell and videos were a great playground...wow how simple the videos were back then...A legend
I'm truly happy to have a great fan like you ❤️ I hope you still play my songs

Lol. Billy Joel never had to justify or defend himself, to anyone. He's a legend.
Not exactly true.
There was a point fairly early on where he got a lot of crap for being too "commercial"; I remember (& disagreed) when this was the opinion of the day about Billy Joel.
Not long after, he released his song "The Entertainer", which lays out what the music business demands of musicians. I have to suspect this was his answer to that criticism and to his fans. I think he acquitted himself well in that song. But don't think he has 'never' had to justify or defend himself; he has, and he did a good job of it.
Joel has always been aware & self-aware. He does not seem to have that many illusions about himself. I just now finished watching a 20min video he put out ("Building The Bridge") where he speaks to how he approached writing & recording his album "The Bridge". He says prior to this album he had not released anything for 3yrs, and he notes specifically that 3 years is a music career.
In a business notorious for inflating egos, Joel seems to have remained a fairly humble man.
If it seems like I've been lost
In let's remember
If you think I'm feeling older
And missing my younger days
Oh, then you should have known
Me much better
Cause my past is something that never
Got in my way
Oh no
Still I would not be here now
If I never had the hunger
And I'm not ashamed to say
The wild boys were my friends
Oh
Cause I never felt the desire
'Til their music set me on fire
And then I was saved, yeah
That's why I'm keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
We wore matador boots
Only Flagg Brothers had them with the Cuban heel
Iridescent socks with the same color shirt
And a tight pair of chinos
Oh
I put on my shark skin jacket
You know the kind with the velvet collar
And ditty-bop shades
Oh yeah
I took a fresh pack of Luckies
And a mint called Sen-Sen
My old man's Trojans
And his Old Spice after shave
Oh
Combed my hair in a pompadour
Like the rest of the Romeos wore
A permanent wave
Yeah
We were keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
You can get just so much
From a good thing
You can linger too long
In your dreams
Say goodbye to the
Oldies but goodies
Cause the good ole days weren't
Always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems
Learned stickball as a formal education
Lost a lot of fights
But it taught me how to lose O.K.
Oh
I heard about sex
But not enough
I found you could dance
And still look tough anyway
Oh yes I did
I found out a man ain't just being macho
Ate an awful lot of late night drive-in food
Drank a lot of take-home pay
I thought I was the Duke of Earl
When I made it with a red-haired girl
In the Chevrolet
Oh yeah
We were keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
You know the good ole days weren't
Always good
And tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems
Now I told you my reasons
For the whole revival
Now I'm going outside to have
An ice cold beer in the shade
Oh
I'm going to listen to my 45's
Ain't it wonderful to be alive
When the rock 'n' roll plays
Yeah
When the memory stays
Yeah
I'm keeping the faith
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Keeping the faith
I'm keeping the faith
Yes I am

King of NOSTALGIA. Billy Joel is my favorite of all time!
NOSTALGIA another word for MUSIC!
Every song of Billy Joel tells a story, that’s why I love his songs.
Nobody is going to point out how the video starts with Richard Pryor and ends with Joe Piscopo?
Wow! I didn't pay any attention to that at the beginning! 😮
Not to mention a healthy dose of Christie Brinkley

This song never fails to lift me up and remind me to Keep the Faith. Thanks, Billy Joel, for many years of beautiful music and messages.
“We strictly do 80’s Joel music, sir”
Still keeping the faith in 2023. 100% agreed! Can't get enough of Billy Joel
Just remember - the good ole days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems
I'm not sure if this is weird or not, but Billy's music keeps me humble. Love him, and I thank my dad for introducing him to me. Uptown Girl started it and I never stopped, and I always come back 35 something years later.
Guys, I know sometimes life can be tough. I know it's hard to... KEEPING THE FAITH!!!
Booed off the stage in Yakima, Wa early on opening for Tower of Power.
Told the crowd as he left they hadn’t heard the last of him.
Then the gold records came.

Right on Billy. Hope you are staying safe 🙏 I saw you in concert at the Meca in Milwaukee 1981.
I like that his songs inspire confidence. You don't see that now. Everyone is depressed or whining about something stupid.
Billy Joel was the last great melodist in popular music. Nobody writes catchy songs with good melodies anymore.
If you only look at pop music sure, but there's been a lot of good new artists too, although it would be difficult to reccomend anyone specific cause I don't know your tastes.
I used to think the same but it just turns out the good artists are just more obscure these days
somewhere along the way, people bought the line that 'it's all subjective' and 'a matter of taste' and that ended up being taken to mean 'there's no such thing as bad, better, best' in art, which is absolute nonsense
@ConcreteTaco i personally like fine line by Harry styles
@@Batchall_Accepted I very much agree. I went through a phase a while ago where i thought all modern music is trash, and all 80s music was good. But then I realised that there are really good songs nowadays if you just search for them, and there were a LOT of terrible songs from the 80s too that were just forgotten in time.
@ConcreteTaco Phil Vassar's lyrics. Start with "I'm alright" and keep going from there.
I was 13 when this song came out. Remember listening to it during a drive with my dad. He ended up liking the album because it was an homage to the music he grew up on. When Billy started describing how he used to dress, I recall a laugh and Dad told me about fashion when he was a teen. The memories stay.
Billy Joel is one of the most brilliant singer-songwriters of all time. And he looks like the biggest dork in all of his music videos lol I love him.
*How pathetic*
"the good old days, weren't always good... tomorrows not as bad as it seems"....thank you, B J for that line I still use on occasion
This guy is amazing! He obviously loves 50's and 60's music. You can tell that. This song sounds a lot like that. Every song he does is do different and unique. Such musical genius

This whole Lp just hit me like a ton of bricks, 2 and 1/2 years younger than Billy, I relate to these older styles of music from the 50's and 60's. as well as he does. In fact his interpretations are so spot on, I recall hearing 'Up Town Girl" for the first time off of some AM radio station, and was so pleased that Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons were making a comeback!! Watching the judge react made me think this is a joyfully spiritual enlightening video.
It's interesting to watch this man through the ages... His music and presence always have a tinge of regret, a tinge of nostalgia, though in this song, they are ever so slight. There's hurt in this man, but he keeps on keeping on. Such is life I suppose. So awesome to see him still performing when he could simply befuddle his life away.

I love how Billy was true to the 50s.
He wrote in a huge range of styles - not pastiche, more homage to his influences. SCheck out 'Until the Night' - Righteous Brothers or what !
This outstanding song (which begins at 01:16) is one of my favorites of Billy Joel's, even though it is missing his beloved piano work. The fantastic songwriting and singing are backed by a slapping shuffle beat and an arrangement blending reggae and early rock and roll. It's the chef's kiss!
BTW I love this video!! I never was a MTV person so I only discovered this recently. And why is Billy combing his hair with a switch blade?! Lol. Ain't it wonderful to be alive when the rock n roll plays!! Great happy song, but still makes room for serious wisdom " the good ole times weren't always good". So true, good for all revisionist historians and extra nostalgic fools to remember! Lol Now let's all go outside and enjoy the shade.... Be safe everyone!
