not only is this such a great song, but it's great advice too! people in the comments seem to be talking about love confessions, whereas i feel this song is more about how communication is vital when you're in a relationship! it can be easy to let your insecurities get the better of you which your partner might see as distance between you, so instead of putting on a poker face, just be honest and open with your feelings, and your partner will be happy to hear it! 💕

I was on the " Art Linkletter Show" when I was 4 or 5 in preschool and he asked each of the 4 or 5 of us selected to go to the show as guests, and I am so old I can't remember quite how many of us their were, since this was like 1964 or 65, at the CBS studios in Studio City, CA and these are the exact cameras they used. I will never forget it since Art asked us individually to tell him a secret. I blew my moms doors off when I announced to the world that she was pregnant with a little boy and I wanted to name him Kevin. I looked right in that camera. I wanted a baby brother being an only child. She was NOT pregnant and I was in so much trouble. I felt terrible once I was old enough to understand, as she was divorced, but this just such a great song, and the video brought that all back- thank you Billy!

Aaaaah, this song gives me 1950s-1960s vibes. Has a very 1950s-1960s rock and roll feel to it, a great song. Mr Joel is one songwriting genius. Thank you for your musical brilliance, Mr Joel.

@@tvmonte, well, Billy captured the 1950s-1960s well in this song. He's one brilliant musician. That Ed Sullivan impersonator sounds so much like the real Ed Sullivan and Billy gives off Elvis Presley vibes here.

So around his time of year. My family would all come together to celebrate the holidays. However a couple years back my two older sister had other plans and that REALLY upsets my mother. She crying and being really sad about it. My solution? I asked Alexa to play Billy and by convenience songs like “My life” “movin’ our” “You May be right” and “tell her about it”. All songs about living life how you want to live or telling someone something important, which made my mom realize my sisters are adults and they can do what they want. My mom felt alone but she wasn’t I reminded her she had me. So thank you Billy. For helping my mom realize she wasn’t alone for the holidays.

The first person he could ever just talk to, and they would spent hours just talking about anything and everything and all the things they have in commen - this was the basis for "Tell Her About It." It's simply about an "a-ha" moment for Joel when he realized that you could actually have a soul mate.
I love the song meaning for this its reassurance in solid form - from the mind body heart & soul ♡

One of my co-workers asked me who my favorite musician was....I told her that if I had to just choose one, it would be Billy Joel. She gave me this shocked look, told me that was good lol She started talking to me about how most people my age(20) usually wouldn't get into Billy Joel. Unfortunately I have to agree with her, but I love looking through the comments and seeing the younger people enjoying it along with the ones who get nostalgia from it :) It makes me happy.

    Listen boy
I don't want to see you let a good thing
    Slip away
You know I don't like watching
    Anybody make the same mistakes
    I made
    She's a real nice girl
And she's always there for you
But a nice girl wouldn't tell you what you should do
    Listen boy
I'm sure that you think you got it all
    Under control
You don't want somebody telling you
The way to stay in someone's soul
    You're a big boy now
    You'll never let her go
But that's just the kind of thing
    She ought to know
    Tell her about it
    Tell her everything you feel
Give her every reason to accept
    That you're for real
    Tell her about it
Tell her all your crazy dreams
Let her know you need her
Let her know how much she means
    Listen boy
It's not automatically a certain guarantee
    To insure yourself
You've got to provide communication constantly
    When you love someone
    You're always insecure
And there's only one good way
    To reassure
    Tell her about it
Let her know how much you care
When she can't be with you
Tell her you wish you were there
    Tell her about it
    Every day before you leave
    Pay her some attention
    Give her something to believe
    'Cause now and then
    She'll get to worrying
    Just because you haven't spoken
    For so long
Though you may not have done anything
Will that be a consolation when she's gone
    Listen boy
It's good information from a man
    Who's made mistakes
Just a word or two that she gets from you
Could be the difference that it makes
    She's a trusting soul
She's put her trust in you
But a girl like that won't tell you
    What you should do
    Tell her about it
    Tell her everything you feel
    Give her every reason
To accept that you're for real
    Tell her about it
Tell her all your crazy dreams
Let her know you need her
Let her know how much she means
    Tell her about it
Tell her how you feel right now
    Tell her about it
The girl don't want to wait too long
You got to tell her about it
Tell her now and you won't go wrong
You got to tell her about it
    Before it gets too late
You got to tell her about it
You know the girl don't want
    To wait, you got to
    Tell her about it

Video really helped to push Billy's career to the level it deserves...It's amazing, to see he's still touring...I didn't appreciate him in the 70's...He was kind of bubblegum to a prog head like me. But; I get a lump in my throat, quite often on many of his songs now...
