Lyrics:
You're a big boy now
You'll never let her go
But that's just the kind of thing
She ought to know
Tell her about it
Tell her everything you feel
Give her every reason to accept
That you're for real
Tell her about it
Tell her all your crazy dreams
Let her know you need her
Let her know how much she means

Billy Joel advocating for healthy communication in relationships back in the 80s. Wholesome stuff.
yes it's a timeless message
This song was from back in the 1960's!

@ronalddykeman9427 BJ looks like he could be the Sultan of Swing in this vid 😅
@@ronalddykeman9427😅😅😅 funny!
I've just realised how many songs Billy Joel actually sings that I didn't know were his
Same thing happened to me when I started listening to him.
For the longest time I thought "For the Longest Time" was by some 1950s doo-wop group. Joel is one of the most versatile songwriters in R&R history.
And the first time I heard It's Still Rock and Roll to Me I thought for sure it was a black guy singing it.
I've known It's Still Rock and Roll to Me for some twenty years. I found out it was by Billy yesterday. (Is that for the longest time? ;)) I haven't even checked the collection I have to see if they have his version or some cover (it's some cheap 50s and 60s collection).
i thought “don’t ask me why” was paul mccartney when i first heard it on the radio
Not just a song, a message.
True.
Where is he?
Correct❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Yeah a real girl don't tell you what to do.
He's completely conservative love it.
@@yowten8994It Might Be The Difference That It Makes
"And though you may not have done anything; will that be a consolation when she's gone?" One of the best lines he ever wrote.
This is an excellent line, but personally I like a line from 'Keeping the Faith' a bit more. "You know the good old days weren't always good, and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems." That is one of my guiding principles in life
@@radiodude1976 Agreed. That is a good one too.
Both lines are wonderful in their own way
That's "heart attack-ack-ack-ack-ack-ack"
Line was pretty good too
In that song, maybe...Nearly every Billy sentence is profound...
Billy is really good at breaking into people's houses

That sounds like something from the onion. "Billy Joel's Hit Song 'Tell Her About It' Used To Justify Breaking And Entering Charge."

I don't believe in Santa Claus, I believe in Billy Joel lol 🤣
He used the good ol’ “just delivering pizza trick.”
When I first heard this song back in high school, it motivated me to finally confess to the girl that I had feelings for for quite a while. 7 years later, we are happily married and are expecting a child in November. Billy, I cannot thank you enough.
Congradulations!
R.I.P. Rodney Dangerfield. A true legend, so cool they had him in this music video.

I keep getting calls from God saying play Billy Joel Tell her about it
So, I'm falling head over heels for this one girl and I'm really confused. So UA-cam reads my inner thoughts and says I should listen to this song.
I now know what to do
you see, girls arent all that complicated
Tell her about it!!!
StrangerThanFiction DizzyTV Greg Lebowski Imma do it today!!
And then just ask her to tell you everything and listen when she does it. You're home free.
Music is funny that way. I swear my Pandora account is some sort of an emphatic pre-cog.
I didn’t tell her about it. Regret it.
If you won’t take it from Billy, take it from me.
TELL HER ABOUT IT!
This song tells you exactly what NOT to do if you don't like getting friendzoned

Agree....
i know right
I haven't heard any bad ones from him.
I dressed "Billy Joel style" in high school, kids laughed at me,
I didn't give two shits, I looked good and they were jealous.....
I miss music when it was this innocent and carefree. Fun tunes, catchy beats and meaningful lyrics. No sex, drugs, over-sexualized dancers, and people of different ethnicities dancing together. Times were much simpler back then.
...I'm 14, and LOVE Billy Joel. An idol for any Long Islander, as well as everybody in general
Do you still love Billy Joel?

As a kid in the 80s I always loved how BILLY Joel had a lot of songs with that 50's 60's doo-op sound. 💗 he plays a lot of tribute to it in his videos too.
You tell her about it, and she not only takes the ring you gave her, but 2000 bucks and runs away to never be heard from again.
This song is the blueprint for failure with women especially in the past decade.

I listened to this song a lot after my Grandmother died. I felt like I never really told her how much I loved her. I hope she knew. Always tell everyone how you feel about them, tomorrow isn't always promised.

I Love This Song On WCBS FM 101.1 On The Radio In 1999
not only is this such a great song, but it's great advice too! people in the comments seem to be talking about love confessions, whereas i feel this song is more about how communication is vital when you're in a relationship! it can be easy to let your insecurities get the better of you which your partner might see as distance between you, so instead of putting on a poker face, just be honest and open with your feelings, and your partner will be happy to hear it! 💕

Even though this reached # ! on the Billboard charts, listeners and radio stations, for whatever reason, have forgotten this good ol' good one, by Billy Joel.
seems billy has forgotten about it too. he has not done it live since 1987. It is probably his biggest hit that he does not include regularly in concert
Walking the streets in the 80s on a Walkman feels like yesterday
Everyone remembers 'Uptown Girl' but it was this song that actually went to number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100!

@Sharon Jensen Well, not really? People were in the moment, but only because of the lack of technological advancement of the time. There was all sorts of fear because people were becoming addicted to television and not going out nearly as much, TV dinners started being a thing (as we see).

So around his time of year. My family would all come together to celebrate the holidays. However a couple years back my two older sister had other plans and that REALLY upsets my mother. She crying and being really sad about it. My solution? I asked Alexa to play Billy and by convenience songs like “My life” “movin’ our” “You May be right” and “tell her about it”. All songs about living life how you want to live or telling someone something important, which made my mom realize my sisters are adults and they can do what they want. My mom felt alone but she wasn’t I reminded her she had me. So thank you Billy. For helping my mom realize she wasn’t alone for the holidays.
Well done! Billy could cheer her up, of course he could! 😁
And even being alone at the end of December is not so bad - I speak from experience for several years.
2:23 those boys just had a moment that we all eventually have.
The moment we realize that Billy Joel is some kind of god.
I tell you what, if they ever did a movie about Billy Joel's life, Michael Keaton would be perfect for the role. That is, if he were younger.
Rodney Dangerfield (RIP), the man who "got no respect", setting himself up as the main act , with Billy Joel as the "warm up", was vintage Dangerfield, losing out to "Petrushka the Dancing Bear". One of the best, most creative, and funny official music videos I've ever seen. The Ed Sullivan impersonator was spot-on.
The first time I wrote a girl named Dana Stannard, thanks alot Billy Joel! LOL! In December 1986, when i went to see her best friend Mary Grace Walsh in Fort Lauderdale! That's a adventure in falling in love with a Irish Girl!!!!
And to think he tried taking his life by drinking furniture polish! What a talent we would of missed out on!! He is such a great inspiration to many people and so gifted at writing absolutely amazing musically brilliant songs!! Love the guy!
Thank God all that ended up happening with the furniture polish was that he just polished his mother’s furniture for a week.
I'd rather listen to this song than the majority of tripe in UK charts nowadays.

One of my favorite Billy Joel songs. Real, honest words
Billy was certainly on the happy pills for this entire album .. Pure pleasure and exhilaration from beginning to end!
It was right after the nylon curtain too haha
One of the interesting stories about this video is that Bill Joel is celebrating folks that made their initial mark on the Ed Sullivan show, the cameo by Rodney Dangerfield represents his initial mark into show business; when he got his first introduction on the Ed Sullivans show back in the early 1960's....Story told by: "Casey Kasem on American Top Forty"
All these negative comments and for what??? Bille Joel, then Bruno Mars, and then someone else after. Appreciate the art for what it is, all good music!!!!
