i honesty can not wait to see Anthony Mackie as Captain America in his first led MCU movie. A lot of my friends do not feel the same way about this movie but I already have my tickets on Thursday Feb 13 and Friday Feb 14. Yes, I have tickets for two days to watch this back to back days. I am that confident that this is going to be a great movie. Anthony, please don’t let me down. I want to prove my friends wrong.
I think this is a good move. Casuals act like Steve is the only captain America when we have 5 Robin's, at least 4 ghost riders, ect. It's a mantle that can be passed to anyone. You may have Steve as your favorite and that's great, nothing wrong with that but Sam Is Captain America

Anthony has been great in everything he's played in and was fantastic last year so I'm looking forward to this movie. Hopefully everyone will enjoy it and then after he will secure his reign as the "Cap"

My thoughts are these: Anthony Mackie is a good actor and is great as Sam Wilson. The question is should Sam Wilson have been made the next Captain America. If Marvel wants to upgrade tha Falcon by giving him Wakandan tech and vibranium wings, that's great. How is that Captain America? That's the Falcon with upgrades. Marvel is gonna have to do more to sell me on the idea that Sam isn't the Falcon anymore, because he still looks "Falcony" to me.
What they need to do is have Sam come to the realization that he has limits and in order to do the most good and survive. He needs to take a serum. Or at least struggle with whether to take a serum or not. Especially, after this upcoming fight with The Red Hulk. He should grapple with the question of, his mortality etc. Given he has seen the good and the bad outcome of other men taking the serum or a version of it. I hope this film really has Sam question who he is at his core, “Not a perfect soldier, but a good man.…” - Dr. Erskine’s Voice Or something else.
Glad they're staying with Mackie! He's shown he can represent the character well, and I'm looking forward to see where Sam's story drives the franchise.

Did Mackie do a serviceable job on the Disney+ mini series? Yes. Can he carry a full feature Captain America movie? Remains to be seen. I would rather see Bucky as Cap.....but Marvel Studios and Disney, are still into DEI casting.
Definitely watching Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, I really like it so far. And the more I hear about the new Captain America movie I just get more hype

I was never expecting a recast. Instead, like you said, I was expecting a blending of all the realities. I envisioned the “reboot” being a recreation of the physical multiverse character-wise, with someone like Scarlet Witch using her powers to create an amalgamated universe where all the histories existed all the time. So, with Captain America, the next movie could be Sam, but it could also be Sam teaming with Steve as if it’s always been the story, and use exposition to describe how they both are Captain Americas. They could even reboot to where Sam was Cap when they discovered Steve.
It could be dope to have the MCU run 2 universes side by side for a few years; kind of like as a bridge. To see an aging Cap/Falcon, Dr. Strange, Vision, Young Avengers, Old Man Logan run at the same time as X-Men (First Class), Black Panther/T'Challa Jr., Nova, etc.

I think Anthony Mackie is great as Captain America. I just wish Marvel would do a Steve Rogers version again and make the movie about his mission to return the Infinity Stones. I wrote a basic storyline about it, (not saying that I'm a writer). But it's just something I came up with due to my Marvel fanaticism and imagination.

I think these roles need to be extended periods of time. Likes James Bond. Chris Evans is the OG cap, then it’s passed down to Mackie (deservedly so). Then after his run it will get passed down again. Could be through an actual pass down or a restart.
I believe he is an amazing talent with much range. That said, I’m not sold on him being Captain America. The character represents the best in ideals and values of “America”, not a global society. The minute that changed in the Disney+ show, he stopped being Captain America. Capt struggled with the antics and current behavior of the government, however, he maintained what he represented about America. We don’t need a school Capt, even if he looks different. The question isn’t can he play the role, it is why is there a changing of the foundation of the role? All the other changes that have been made to this movie were to appease and not offend (my observation). If art imitates life, then make the movie as it stood and if it a movie upsets you (and it’s not blatantly disrespectful and offensive, then maybe it struck a chord that needed to be struck.
I think actually AM should play Cap in the XMen Saga; the Avengers should be back seat anyway, and it's kind of easier to sideline him than Steve Rodgers (as a non-super) As such also not having a Tony stark in the mix at that point is probably the better option. The avengers initiative is effectively scrapped; Strange assembles the secret defenders, the young Avengers and maybe west coast play smaller roles in a national crisis building up to AvX. (E.g. states on the west coast create an anti-Mutant apartheid and America is divided. The Avengers' role is first to stop mutant terrorists then to help mutants flee.)
Even if it does end up being a bad movie that won't be Anthony Mackie's fault. As for him saying he doesn't want to play 60-year-old Cap, I'm going with the assumption that's more of a reference to Hugh Jackman than Chris Evans.

They have taken so many liberties in the MCU over the past 10 years. Why not just give Sam the serum?! They didn’t do it in the comics and people didn’t like it they’re trying to do it in the MCU and people aren’t digging it. Give him the serum or something. I think he has earned it as a character.
i love this. i hope the new movie is fantastic. for whatever you think of a black cap, there are a lot of stories that could be explored that speak to who we are as america, and what a black man as cap means. i think that falcon and winter soldier was flawed but underrated. mackie is a fantastic actor, and deserves the 3 marvel movie treatment. honestly, i'd love it if ryan coogler or another black director wrote and directed the next mackie america movie. there's just so much there to mine.

I think with the right storytelling and supporting cast Sam can have a very prominent and welcome leadership role in the MCU.

We know Anthony Mackie can play Cap. The TV series proved that. He did a great job.
