Have a great day and be kind to everyone!!!!
The thing that's helped me the most with backward crossovers is bending my knees more and making sure that my inside foot is on an outside edge. It makes it way easier
Courteney Skye yeh that’s what I do
i don't know why, but i cant seem to grasp the idea of backwards crossovers
Neither can I. I'm having so much trouble with them.
kkstar 12 same here, my balance is horrible when doing my backward crossovers. I just cant cross properly and i trip over my own feet constantly
I can crossover. I just end up dragging my back feet on my toe picks when I'm trying to get out of it.
kkstar 12 thats pretty much what i struggle with😂and balance too.... i just suck at backwards
We'll get better at them. It just takes time. Don't give up.
*eats ice cream while watches person being athletic*
Lol
I'm struggling with crossovers so this is super helpful!! I'm so excited to practice these tips!!
i'm just starting my backwards crossovers so this is just perfect timing hahah! could you maybe do a video on 3 turns or waltz jump?
JujuKat mee too
Yes!! 3 turns & waltz jumps would be good
JujuKat oh yes!! Those three turns are the worst sometimes.
I can do waltz jumping ( not completely) but still my three turns are bad :(
JujuKat Same. Im a FS6 skater and my 3 turns suck. Inside outside back outside back inside
Can you make a video on backwards skating for beginners? Love you Katie!!
Yoshigxrl yeah I was going to ask the same thing!❤️
Tips:
Don’t be afraid. Just go. Look forward and wiggle your skates side to side. Or do backwards swizzles
I really love these basics videos! Can you please make a video on inside and outside three turns as well as basic spins like the two foot spine? I'm trying to improve on my three turns to pass my skating level at the moment. Thank you so much!!
Yuzu bruh Army is Everywhere
Bro I know
Backwards crossovers have been driving me insane. Thank you.
katie i just want to thank you for all the help you have been posting to all new skaters. me as one of them i am very thankfull that my favorite youtuber is posting stuff to help me with the things i love. and now before you start getting even more thousands and thousands subscribers(congrats on 15k yay💙😊), and my comment will always be harder to find cause there will be more people in each and every one of your vids i just want to say thank you so much and always keep up all the amazing work💞💟💞
My crossovers?
They are very very unsatisfying
Lol
Hi Katie! You are amazing! Best skater ever! Cheers from Poland! :*
Stasia a haha chyba nie jestem jedyną osobą z polski, która ją ogląda XDDDDDDD
kirby 864 To super ! :)
I like it when you do some more basic tutorials for the less experienced skaters. Thank you for the great crossover advice!
This is so useful!!! I was having a hard time learning crossovers (both, backward and forward) and this helped a lot!! Thanks Katie, ur the best!! 💕
Katie you have no idea how helpful this was. I just got new skates (jackson classiques) and my forward crossovers are terrible, and I don't have backwards crossovers yet. I always end up hitting my blades together and almost falling...
Hey Katie! What about some basic spins and off-ice exercises to begin with. Love your videos! ❤❤
you're my favorite figure skating channel
the speed when doing crossovers gives me struggles bc you suddenly go so fast and our rink has been so crowded lately so I just can't go fast bc I'll skate into ppl xD
I've been skating for a year and forward crossovers are such a pain since I suck at them. Oddly, bacwards crossovers are my favorite skill since I'm so comfortable with them.
Thank you so much!! Trying to perfect those backwards crossovers, this was so helpful! I love your videos so much!!!
I'm finally going to learn crossovers. I'm going to be learning the forward ones. I can't wait.
have fun!! I've just made a video on doing forwards crossovers on my channel so if you need any extra tips let me know :)
Thanks. I'm having a lot of trouble with them.
watched in 0.5x speed so i could see the crossovers slowly while comparing them to my own so i can see how to improve and it sounds like shes drunk lmaooo
Oh my god. Thank you so much. I'm REALLY struggling with my backward crossovers. When I first started learning them I couldn't even cross my legs over. Now I'm only having trouble dragging my back legs causing me to scrape on my toe picks. But hopefully I'll get them very soon. Thanks for your tips and all of your help.
Thanks for making this video! I needed this so much because I am in level 2 and I am learning forward crossovers but I am doing horrible at them. It was such a coincidence that you uploaded a video about this! anyways, thank you sooo much
Your channel has been growing steadily lately!
Can you do video comparing Sals and Axels? I think it's so hard to distinguish between the two that everyone would benefit from an explanation!
Amazing vids. About to go to the rink and try it tomorrow!
This brings back so many memories
On Wednesday May 10th I'm starting my lessons. (2 days) I'm so excided
Night Chan ❤❤❤ Have fuuuuuuun
5 months later how did it go? :)
YEESSS I fail so badly at crossovers and I just got new skates so they look like legitimate trash. This helps so much thank yoouuuuu xxx
i was waiting for this video!💕💕
Hi Katie. I just started to learn skate at the age of 30. Your crossover is so beautiful and that's my GOAL!!!
I love all the tips in this video Katie!! sometimes its so good to go back to basics. I've actually just made a video on forwards crossovers on my channel, its super interesting that you've done forwards and backwards crosses in one video as they are quite different in terms of levels of difficulty.
Do you have any advice for shifting your weight from one foot to the other for backwards crossovers? Thanks so much for this video, and I love your channel so much!
That would be great to know..
i was just looking to see if you had a video about this because i am having a lot of trouble with it. I only saw you put your left foot behind your right. Doing a video where you are going the other way would help me out. Also I would love to see a video of you doing some tricks and fun things at the rollerskating rink on rollerskates just to see the difference in balance and to learn this would be really neat to learn from! you are an incredable skater! keep skating on - cheers.
Yay she's back!
Thank you so much for the tips! I've been able to do forward and backwards crossovers for some time now, but it bothers me that they don't look how I want them. I'm going to the ice rink tomorrow to practice
I'm just starting to learn these in my lessons and this helped a lot, bless
who is that one person who disliked smh 🙄 ilysm katie❤️ i'm a figure skater too and i'm starting my axel☺️ i always trip in crossovers😂
I keep falling when I do a left forward crossover...
I keep falling when I do a right foot crossover XD
박미나 Mochi Mina I keep falling too XD
me
Same XD
My sis is learning that so thank you for posting this video cause she needs some help
Ahhh Katie this is perfect timing as I'm currently working on crossovers
Can you do a video on lunges?
My coach told me to point my toe on the foot I'm crossing over with to the middle of the circle when I was struggling with my forward cross over (excuse my grammar, it was probably wrong)
Well made and well thought out video!!!! Thanks!!!
keeep up with more tutorials PLEASE , IT REALLY HELPED ME
Thank you soooooo much! This really helped. You are the best!
I really want to learn this but it’s difficult for me and I’m scared of hurting myself when I fall over attempting it
So my coach say that I have to flex My foot behind me (the one that did not cross) I was wondering if you had any tips or exercises off the ice! Thanks so much Katie!
Katie, do you have any tips to get used to skates when they are first used on ice? I just got mine and they are very good, but when I went on the ice the blade kept getting stuck in the ice, they are my first skates, any tips?
Lord Walnut If you're tripping on your toe picks, trying skating more on the mid to mid back of the blade instead of the frony of the blade x
Alwhal it's not the toe pick, I just feel like I'm glued to the ice
Lord Walnut Then your blades are probably really sharp. Just try to skate as much as you can in them and do things like edges or crossovers to get them a little duller.
Anya Aponte Thanks!
I’m not sure but maybe you gotta sharpen you’re skates? I’m not sure if that you’re case but if you gotta sharpen the skates you could find someone who knows how (:
You do great at explaining all the details! Thanks!
I haven't learned crossovers yet but i'm trying to figure out the movements,
so you push off one leg, put that leg in front of the other so one leg is "under" the other, and put the "under" leg in front? Is that right?
Hey katie i love you channel soon much ly!!!
could you please please please start a beginners figure skating series? 😍😍😍😍
Can you do a tutorial of how to do a one foot front spin and maybe tips on Mohawks?
My left crossovers are semi-pro, My right cross overs are is if I never skates B4
Hey Katie can you please do a beginner tips and how to backwards skate video?❤️
Great video! Please do a video on how to become flexible or some exercises to help. I am not flexible at all 😂 luv u! Xxx
I got my crossovers on my first try thanks to u
Hello! What a beautiful skater you are- thank you so much for this video! I have a Skate Test tomorrow (I'm an adult beginner having started 2 months ago & skating once a week, twice if I'm very lucky) and I still have trouble using my outside edge, it feels terrifying- like I'm going to fall. Do you have any tips, other than what was in your video, to gain confidence using the outside edge for forward crossovers? Thank you in advance!
Love your videos ! ❤️ They're so helpful sweetie
If you find the time, could you do a video about spirals?
blessingsss!!! thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much
I got my forwards crossovers perfect but my backward crossovers are a lil *ugly*
Can you maybe explain which leg goes over the other when you do crossovers?
I’m a figure skater, I learned all this in like 2 days :D👍🏼 but that was like 1 year ago😅
Can you do a video on moves in the field? Or edges?
Every time I practice my backwards crossovers, I stop gliding backwards when I lift and cross my leg xD
I have forward crossovers down. I have been doing them for quite a while. It is backwards ones that confuse me!! :0
Please do a video on two foot spins!!!!
Can you do a video on a backspin? I really need help.
thanks for the help!!!!!!
but for some reason I just can't get my boot to go over the other. can you help me??????
i am in level three going to level four i think this will make me happy thz
i needed this video!!
Do you have any suggestions for how to get a wonder crossover for our weaker side? My left side crossover leg doesn't crossover as far easy right leg crossover.
I used to be a lvl 8 but i quit and have lost my confidence and I’m mega rusty but crossovers used to be my favourite and I was so mad when I lost them 😡
THANK YOU SO MUCH.For this video😁😁😁♥️♥️♥️
Not sure if you'll see this....
But when doing forward crossovers i tend to catch my pick on the ice... if that makes sense... any tips on how to not do this?
When I do the backward crossovers in the counterclockwise direction, I find it difficult to fully extend the right leg under the left leg. Do you have any tips for that?
❤️❤️❤️❤️love u!!!!
I keep tripping on my toepick when I do the backwards crossover any tips?
Can I also use these tip for my rollerskates?
#EyeKatieFamilily
For some reason i can do backward crossovers but not forwards ones and ive fallen more goinf forward than backwards which is kind of embarrassing :(
When we go backward, does the foot crossing over glide on the ice?
Cool
What do you recommend learning first, the front crossover or the backward crossover?
I just started learning forward crossovers, and I thought I was doing pretty good, but my coach keeps telling me to bring my ankles together when crossing my feet over! It's not only really difficult but it kills my momentum. Also that's not what she's doing in the video. So I'm wondering if I should keep doing what I'm doing and follow Katie's advice or try to learn them the weird way my coach is saying
I say stick with your coach's advice. Usually, I trust them, they know what they're doing. And I don't think it's weird, my coach told me the same exact thing!
Late to this but just in case. Having feet together is best when you're a beginner cause it's easier to get your foot over the other without knocking your balance. It helps with getting the hang of the movement. It does kill your momentum, but as a beginner it's a generally a good idea to not go too fast. As you advance generally seems like the technique will definitely change to more difficult, of course.
What’s your recommendation for skaters starting double jumps & what skates would you recommend?
I need this video ❤️
Any advice for adjusting to newer stiffer skates?
you did my request thanks so much
Layback! I can't get the leg position
I really love figure skating and yes, Yuri on Ice does play a role in that, but even after watching it I moved on to watching real skate programs both through live streams and on UA-cam. Because of this, figure skating quickly became my biggest dream, and I think of it daily, but the problem is that I'm worried I won't be able to do it because of my age (15) and the fact that I'm scared my parents won't allow me to, as they seem set on having me do something else with my life. I've tried expressing my interest in the sport and the career but very few people seem to take me seriously. Can anyone give me some advice on how I can convince my parents to let me skate? Im willing to work as hard as possible if I can make this happen, even if I'm late or just decide on instead working to be a coach in the long run. Am I being unrealistic? lol sorry for such a long comment.
This is really basic, but how do i get over my fear of falling
Can you do a video on camel spins 🐫
How do you skate backwards
My birthday is on april 18. TOO!!!!
how do you stay off of your toe pick when pushing? sometimes i have this problem and i know it's not good 😬
focus on keeping your weight on the back/middle of your blades when moving forwards, don't put too much weight on the back though or you'll fall backwards 😂
Sarah Bethea and when going backwards, be on the middle/mid-front of the blade but don't lean forward to much or you'll start scratching the ice and falling forwards
Can someone tell me the name of the song from this video? (from the first 15 seconds of the video) xD
Make sure to get your lean on an inside edge!
