    The thing that's helped me the most with backward crossovers is bending my knees more and making sure that my inside foot is on an outside edge. It makes it way easier

      I can crossover. I just end up dragging my back feet on my toe picks when I'm trying to get out of it.

Doing a video where you are going the other way would help me out. Also I would love to see a video of you doing some tricks and fun things at the rollerskating rink on rollerskates just to see the difference in balance and to learn this would be really neat to learn from! you are an incredable skater! keep skating on - cheers.

    • @minecrafter85057

      Lord Walnut If you're tripping on your toe picks, trying skating more on the mid to mid back of the blade instead of the frony of the blade x

    • @harry4918

    so you push off one leg, put that leg in front of the other so one leg is "under" the other, and put the "under" leg in front? Is that right?

  • @hanfan26
    @hanfan26 7 років тому +1

    I just started learning forward crossovers, and I thought I was doing pretty good, but my coach keeps telling me to bring my ankles together when crossing my feet over! It's not only really difficult but it kills my momentum. Also that's not what she's doing in the video. So I'm wondering if I should keep doing what I'm doing and follow Katie's advice or try to learn them the weird way my coach is saying

    • @barriebbenson5742
      @barriebbenson5742 7 років тому +1

      I say stick with your coach's advice. Usually, I trust them, they know what they're doing. And I don't think it's weird, my coach told me the same exact thing!

    • @KassieJane
      @KassieJane 6 років тому

      Late to this but just in case. Having feet together is best when you're a beginner cause it's easier to get your foot over the other without knocking your balance. It helps with getting the hang of the movement. It does kill your momentum, but as a beginner it's a generally a good idea to not go too fast. As you advance generally seems like the technique will definitely change to more difficult, of course.

    I really love figure skating and yes, Yuri on Ice does play a role in that, but even after watching it I moved on to watching real skate programs both through live streams and on UA-cam. Because of this, figure skating quickly became my biggest dream, and I think of it daily, but the problem is that I'm worried I won't be able to do it because of my age (15) and the fact that I'm scared my parents won't allow me to, as they seem set on having me do something else with my life. I've tried expressing my interest in the sport and the career but very few people seem to take me seriously. Can anyone give me some advice on how I can convince my parents to let me skate? Im willing to work as hard as possible if I can make this happen, even if I'm late or just decide on instead working to be a coach in the long run. Am I being unrealistic? lol sorry for such a long comment.
