He used to say "i can do nice drums, the problem is selling them all over".. well, i think he has helped varus big time to expand. His drums are all custom made for him at this point. ANd at this point i think almost every drummer with an internet connection knows varus drums now.
He is, but a lot of people who don't listen to tech death and other similarly technical genres underestimate how many just as good drummers there are out there, who also write original music that's on this level or higher. Some examples: George kolias (literally best drummer ever, in terms of precision live), Austin Archey spencer prewett, Jared Klein from rivers writes REALLY interesting but tech-y stuff, for example subtle change is a cool song.
This guy is just insanely good. The technical ability of a drummer only goes so far and this dude is at the peak of it. For sure the best drummer of all time. I mean I don’t even think it’s possible to make a statement like that but in this case… yes
He's on the short list for sure! You can't forget jazz greats-- Buddy, Tony, Max, Louie, and there are contemporary guys with extraordinary chops like JoJo Mayer and Jacob Armen. The point is fluency with the instrument to achieve perfect self expression, which this man has CLEARLY reached.
