@bodegacatx I actually did have a paralysis seizure condition at first and did have doctors say that mine was really actually "poison ivy". They also never told me that poison ivy is in a lot of foods like sundried tomatoes. I was forced to find a cure myself, and was cured of the paralysis and seizures in my early 20s with an herb called "milk thistle". Just recently, in my late 30s and early 40s, I found the final herbs I need from my true lord, Aleister Crowley, including two of his favorites, myrrh and galangal, and one for super energy, andrographis (the one that turned me vegan and that I lost tons of weight over). For years now, I have used a special spice, drink mix, and body washes with the andrographis, milk thistle, myrrh, galangal and other herbs I alternate. Now, I have super energy and immunity and do uphill long walks and hikes every day in addition to being vegan. So, I went from paralysis seizures to cured to super detoxing to almost super powers. I would one day like to be in a job position where I could elimate poison ivy from existing in the food and soap supply and would also like my special spice available for people to use. The herbs are all available on Amazon. My school district and family never used or heard of Zaa'tar at all, but used salsa or sundried tomatoes and Suave or Bath & Body Works soap (until I prevented it at home), which all have ivy. That is why I was surprised to learn that one spice listed for Mediterranean says the word sumac, when every restaurant I tried of falafels, grape leaves, hummus, baba ghanoush etc are all wonderful. I was also unhappy that when I first tried Himalayan salt, it was great, but it later had all ivy in it and was no longer the original thing I tried. Anyway, I just stay energized with my herbs and eat whatever is great, including the stuffed grape leaves.

omg, what a beautiful family you have, Rebecca! and everything looks soo delicious!
back in the city, those deli slices were on sale recently, otherwise i don't usually buy them. now i've got a freezer full. easy lunches. btw, i always take each slice and bunch it up before layering, kind of fluffy-like, on the bread. it makes them a lot easier to bite through and chew that way. somehow tasiter too. as for mustard, it's a definite must, and healthy because of the turmeric.
p.s. did you post the pickled turnip recipe? i'm looking forward to making and eating them!

Yummmmmm, making me miss my yai yai, I don't know if you remember I commented absolutely forever ago saying there are a lot of similarities between Greek Cypriot food and yours, especially where there was influence from Asia minor, shows we are all connected. Your family is beautiful thank you for sharing them with us. I've met and heard speak every Palestinian ambassador to Ireland in the last 14yrs, Sinn Féin and Irish Republicanism has always had close ties with those struggling for freedom, I cried every time I heard them speak but this year was understandably harder than the other years, Dr Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid and her husband are such wonderful people and I'm glad to have met them. My mother told me this story that when she was very young and everything kicked off in Cyprus she had to translate from the English news to Cypriot for all her older relatives because they didn't understand English and she didn't even have the words like she didn't know the words to describe half of what was being said and she was seeing and that's comparatively mild compared to this. I don't even know how I veered off into this super drawn out comment, I suppose how can anyone not be thinking about it, but sending all my love to all of you.

I am seriously not sure if you could trust me around the stuffed grape leaves, since I might eat the whole plate! I actually love canned stuffed grape leaves from the store. I am not certain if I would be able to try Zaa'tar, because I am severely allergic to (but very well cured of and immune to) poison ivy and oak, which have been referred to as sumac. I am actually not afraid of trying it, because the thing I am allergic to is really sundried tomatoes and many types of pink salt instead. The Mediterranean food never tastes or smells like it at all. I was going to try the Mediterranean restaurant in Myrtle Beach last summer that had it, but our hotel ended up not being near it. The location I walked to from my hotel was no longer there.
I love to get this food for my birthday dinner sometimes. The place I went to last year in CT where I live was the best ever! My mom and I both agree that we never had hummus (with the same pink pickles), falafels, baba ghanoush, rice or anything else equal to the ones at THE OLIVE TREE in Milford, CT. I am planning to go to this restaurant again for my birthday this year on April 30 (maybe, but I still want to try this one vegan pizza spot).
My family often go to the Hampton Beach strip in New Hampshire for summer, and when we do, I always stop by LOLA'S to get the wonderful, super hot, out of this world veggie stuffed grape leaves (she makes meat ones too). I cannot decide which veggie grape leaves I like the best out of all of them. I am vegan, so I have not had the meat ones.
Anyway, I really wish I could consider going on a missions trip with you to help your people in the conflict. If I went on a missions trip to Guatemala for two weeks before I was even cured of the illness I had, then I could probably be even better than that on a missions trip now, with myself all detoxed and cured. It would take quite long to get a whole passport and all that stuff we need. Sometimes I wish I just renewed my old passport all along, even though it would have been a waste of money with me never traveling. I just hope each day that this conflict will end and that everyone will love stuffed grape leaves as peace makers.

Holy sht your grandma went ham! Sorry if it was answered in the video, but is Palestinian food already very vegan-friendly or is your grandma also vegan?

I was wondering this too. Or which meats are more popular for their cuisine

They aren't vegan! But things like sides and salads are very vegan friendly and then Rebecca's family accommodates and just makes things like the apple pie roll dessert vegan 😊 I think meat like lamb is popular. Rebecca sorry sometimes I answer for you to try to help forgive me if I'm not quite right, please chime in 😂

Palestinian food has alot of vegan food in it and alot of easily veganizable food. It's especially easy for my family because middle eastern christians eat fully vegan for a month of "fasting" every year. So there's already been centuries of veganizing our cultural recipes. So, while most Palestinians do eat meat regularly, it's really easy for my grandma to cook vegan when im with her. All the recipes in this video were already vegan. She didnt have to veganize them for me.
