I'm seeing a lot of comments like "why are you getting so worked up? It's just food". People who say this have completely missed the point of the video. This is happening in the context of the systematic erasure of the Palestinian people. When everything has been taken from you, your land, your home, your dignity... your culture, your food is what you hold onto as a connection to that. And to also have that taken from you and presented as "Israeli", is another act of violence and erasure. This also comes in the context of Arabs being represented in the west as uncivilised and with no culture, so it's a slap in the face when people perpetuate the lie that these foods, kanafe, falafel, falahi salad, hummus etc. are Israeli.

About 50 years ago, I bought a jewish cookbook. It was all European style dishes. Kreplach, hamentashen, and mostly German and Russian, Polish dishes. Richard brought home an "Israeli" cookbook from a yardsale, and it had falafel and some other Middle Eastern dishes.. I haven't used it at all, and I have several Palestinian cookbooks. It appears the Israelis are indeed trying to "own" Palestinian food and look as if they are indigenous, even though their DNA says no.
Jews have lived in North Africa and the Middle East before there were even Christians and Muslims. And they have been cooking with these ingredients for millennia. Falafel was actually invented by Coptic Christians in Egypt since as Orthodox Christians, they needed a vegetarian meal during their many fasts. And this isn't a secret. Also, DNA justifies nothing but very public genetic studies on Jews show that even your boogeyman, the Ashkenazi Jews are of Levantine genetic origins mixed with Southern European. This tracks because in the 1st century, the Romans overran Judea and took 100,000 Judean Jews as slaves to Italy.

Israel is currently waging a horrible but necessary war against a terrorist organisation that committed the per capita equivalent of three 9/11s against it. You mean a different "now"? Hamas won the elections, then staged a coup, killing members of Fatah, and then started shooting rockets at Israel whilst declaring a desire to kill all Jews.
Let me point to a serious issue : How difficult is it to have 200 UA-cam accounts run by 2 or 10 soldiers of a particular military group or unit in the Israeli army to affect the public opinion in the comments section? Let them be 500 soldiers talking multiple languages, with every account pretending to be someone of a particular background and personality. E.g. might be religious, atheist, resistance supporter, victim, Evangelist, Muslim, average citizen, just absolutely anything. They might pretend to be opponents in politics and social views or anything. One of them might provoke a rage. This way they can drive a reaction and orient the public opinion either to make a conflict, divert attention away from massacres, weaken the intrinsic reaction, leveraging side issues, manipulating priorities, deepening loyalty to bad institutions, causing disturbance among/ between religious/ ethnic groups, spreading rumors, character assassination... So how to know the truth? Follow your heart not your desire! Your heart is on the opposite side of the colonialists' interests who don't care about you, absolutely whoever you were. As someone who’s been to Israel many times and is very familiar with Israeli society, I’ve never heard anyone claim Knaffeh is an Israeli food. Everyone knows knaffeh, along with falafel, shawarma, and other common street food items you’ll find in Israel, are of Arab or Levantine origin. But, keep in mind, a majority of Israel’s population is descended from Jewish refugees driven from their homes in the Middle East and North Africa. Are they not allowed to prepare the foods they brought from the countries they came from? Are Egyptian Israeli Jews not allowed to sell, produce, or consume falafel because somebody says so in a UA-cam video? Additionally, it has historically been pretty hard to find quality Ashkenazi (Jews from Eastern European backgrounds) food in Israel (lately that’s been changing). Though a major reason for this is the adamant secularism and full-on rejection of their Ashkenazi traditions of many early Ashkenazi Zionist pioneers, another is the lack of some more exotic Ashkenazi ingredients in the Levant. In short, this video is just anti-Israeli slander. If you go to Israel, you will plainly see that the majority of Israelis are not ‘white Europeans’ by any means, and there is nothing wrong with them bringing their food traditions to Israel.
Exactly this. It doesn’t take much to rile up the Jew haters. Most of them are incredibly ignorant, and know nothing about Israel or Israel cuisine. They’re just itching at the chance to express their Jew hatred. I don’t imagine that this angry about New York pizza being such a big part of New York food culture. ‘Oh, how dare they steal it from the Italians?’

I'm in a part of Sydney surrounded by restaurants selling "Israeli" food, which is indistinguishable from the other restaurants in the city selling Palestinian and other Levant food... it's wild.
Because most Israelis come from families that have either lived in the Holy Land itself for many generations or are from Mizrahi Jewish families that were expelled from or fled in terror to Israel escaping after bloodthirsty Arab mobs in neighboring countries like Syria or Egypt ranscacked Jewish neighbohoods in Damascus and Cairo in 1948, places where Jews lived for generations. Falafel, kibbeh, shawarma, mujadara, etc. is part of the gastronomic heritage of Israel, and most Israeli Jews have been eating this kind of food for centuries. It's wild that this is news to you!
Idiot-Israel is part of the levant. Each region puts their own spin on regional food and calls it their own. Check your hatred at the door. These foods are not specifically Palestinian, these are regional Palestinian takes on foods available all over the Middle East.
Bro, cuisine fusion is a thing. Like Pizza is italian but in this day and age new york style pizza is distinct and doesn't exist in Italy despite still being pizza. During times of war a lot of foodstuff gets shared among populations, it's why a lot of Greek food is based on some sort of Ottoman/Turkish original but given a little twist and then categorized as Greek. This food can be the Israeli variant of the dish that became popularized overseas, and not the Palestinian base of it.
They stole everything from Palestinians, it was the Palestinians mistake to show them hospitality when they were kicked out of Europe. We all saw their brutality and the world is awakening.
@@Bigredfitnessmoshethat was when the AshkeNAZI jewss came semi naked, malnourished, literally begging for a home to Palestin.e after they were chased away from Europe
The Jewish Zionist migration began in 1882, Mr Dipshit. That's 47 years before the Hebron massacre. It wasn't until the native Palestinians knew what the zionists were doing (hoping to create an ethnostate on land already occupied) that there were hostilities.
With respect to food I think this is an extremely narrow minded take. There is no conscious Israeli effort to erase Palestinian identity by way of food. It is more of an inevitable consequence of the cultural exchange between two peoples that are living side by side or embedded within each other, regardless of how it came to be, and whether you agree with it or not. People will influence and trade with each other, despite theological or ethnical disagreements or even hatred, because people pursue practical utility. This results in concepts of British tea which obviously did not originate in England, German currywurst where I don't think anyone can dispute Germans did not invent curry, and Japanese tempura which was imported by Jesuit missionaries in the 16th century (with curry actually being the most popular Japanese food currently). Palestinian food is amazing, and you do well to speak of its culture and heritage. And I value your perspectives from the Palestinian side on many things, and I enjoy your videos. But as far as food "colonization", there is no active mission to erase Palestinian identity by way of food, at least that's my two cents.
Amazing video, as someone who grew up with "Israeli" food being pushed at me it is so interesting to learn the real origins. Also, all the food showed in this video look delicious, wish i could try it one day.
Nah. Israelj cuisine is not the same as Palestine cuisine at all. Not even a little bit. There are much larger influences in Israeli cuisine that come from country, such as Morocco and Yemen and Iraq and Poland. Don’t believe everything you watch on a UA-cam video.

This also comes in the context of Arabs being represented in the west as uncivilised and with no culture, so it's a slap in the face when people perpetuate the lie that these foods, kanafe, falafel, falahi salad, hummus etc. are Israeli.
the point of the video is to claim the foods of other cultures as "palestinian," meanwhile, knaffeh is originally lebanese, and spread around the levant from there

I have also seen Fattoush, olive oil, kebab, shawerma, etc.. You can test that yourself very easily by typing "israeli resturant (name of popular western city)". For example: israeli resturant berlin
@HatemSinokrot I live in Israel, and almost everyone who does not live in Palestine has never heard of Knafeh before. Yes, they do call Hummus, Falafel, kebab, and shwarma israeli, including israeli couscous, although their origins are probably from countries that Sephardim lived in.
Jews are a diaspora so they have different types of food cultures. Middle Eastern Jews cook middle eastern food European Jews cook European Food.

How difficult is it to have 200 UA-cam accounts run by 2 or 10 soldiers of a particular military group or unit in the Israeli army to affect the public opinion in the comments section?

I’m in Minnesota, America. There is a Palestinian restaurant here (Baba’s) that’s just incredible. I’ve never tried their knafeh, I will make a point of it the next time I’m there.
Even random white people in the dead center of the United States, literally the other side of the planet, know that this food is authentically Palestinian! Israel is cooked. The whole world has now seen that the emperor has no clothes.
So fortunate to have a Palestinian confectionary in my neighbourhood in Melbourne, where I indulge in this delicious dessert! Great video!
As a Palestinian myself, my family have been displaced to Jordan. I was born in the US but lived in Jordan for over ten years and know the feeling of the taunt. Where it's so close to what's really my home, but it's not. I do consider it my second home, more my home than the US ever seems to be for me.
I'm in a part of Sydney surrounded by restaurants selling "Israeli" food, which is indistinguishable from the other restaurants in the city selling Palestinian and other Levant food... it's wild.
Maybe because many Israelis and Palestinians are the same people with only religion as a difference!
You've been Israeled!
😅😅❤
Resistance through food. I love it. Thank you so much for showing this perspective
I only found this channel after the green brigade video and wow it’s really underrated
They stole everything from Palestinians, it was the Palestinians mistake to show them hospitality when they were kicked out of Europe. We all saw their brutality and the world is awakening.
They showed Jews hospitality? I must’ve missed that one. Was that before or after the 1938 Hevron massacre?
@@Bigredfitnessmoshethat was when the AshkeNAZI jewss came semi naked, malnourished, literally begging for a home to Palestin.e after they were chased away from Europe
The Jewish Zionist migration began in 1882, Mr Dipshit. That's 47 years before the Hebron massacre. It wasn't until the native Palestinians knew what the zionists were doing (hoping to create an ethnostate on land already occupied) that there were hostilities.
fakestinains do no exist.
Never have & never will.
@@Bigredfitnessmoshe wayyyy before, like, for example in the early 20th century, or after the spanish inquisition
I can tell by the title of the video that this is stupid as hell
Amazing video, as someone who grew up with "Israeli" food being pushed at me it is so interesting to learn the real origins. Also, all the food showed in this video look delicious, wish i could try it one day.
A beautiful video! I am sad looking at it in Jan 2024.
There's too much honey in Mediterranean desserts no matter who made them, but y'all make up for it with the savoury dishes. 😋
What? They even stole the cuisine😂😂😂
Nah. Israelj cuisine is not the same as Palestine cuisine at all. Not even a little bit. There are much larger influences in Israeli cuisine that come from country, such as Morocco and Yemen and Iraq and Poland. Don’t believe everything you watch on a UA-cam video.
Yes. Theft comes naturally to them.

They learned many dishes from the Palestinians, which is perfectly fine. The issue arises when you market these foods as part of your cultural heritage, while simultaneously denying the existence of the people you learned it from.
But 20% of israel are palestinian arabs .
@Bigredfitnessmoshe breads and donuts is jewish not falafel and th3 other stuff they talk about its a big joke 😅
Bro now I want to try Palestinian food but there aren't any Palestinian places near me 😭
This world is the paradise of the disbelievers. Let them have it. Ours is with Allah(A.W.).
Great story-telling, history narrative, video shooting...etc. as a Jordanian-Palestinian I'm happy to learn more about the history and the evil occupation. No enough gratitude for this content 😊
