- The snow has finally left the mountain and we're back to business as usual at our off grid homestead. Today we're prepping the garden and starting seeds in the greenhouse for the spring planting. Also, I'm sharing the results from when I set out my trail cameras. Life is good and all is well here at the cabin.

Out west we had a “fools spring”a couple weeks back. Now winter is back and overstaying it’s welcome like a bear in a dumpster.

Time to plant a comfrey patch to help with all the injuries.
The weather and snow was only slightly better here in Acworth. It was so good to have those warm temps last week! Now our land is mushy again (because of these few days of rain) but it seems May will be drier and we can get started on the cottage foundation. Nice to know Lori is healing. Regaining mobility will be a work-in-progress. By the way, we finally got our point well put in and the water is wonderful! Great not having to rely on collection or hauling it from elsewhere, now.
Glad to hear you got good water. The well over at the other property is heavy with iron. A real disappointment :-/

Two days ago here in northern Minnesota we just got another 6" of wet heavy snow and all the lakes are still iced up! Were ready for spring to come any time now!!!
Open water here finally but I'm sure we'll get more snow.

I understand about the dreary days of winter just wanting to feel the sun shine Here in TN only about 3 months of cold weather but that still to long ready for spring back out side. I miss sweet Franky Baby Tiley is so young and full of life she will keep you on your toes~!

We went from 3 feet of snow and in 3 day it was gone high 70s and low 80s did that. Then a foot of snow fell. Just feels like this winter won't end. Great video as usual Boss!

There is nothing like spending time in the first warm sun of spring. I've mowed twice already and had the old 45yr old troybuilt pony turning in the chicken poop n bedding in the garden soil. Our weather has yo yod so much this past week from 80s to snow n back to 80 yesterday. Chance of snow 2moro n Monday. That will make two Snows on the peepers so yep, springs close!!! Glad to see ur woman's wing looks like it's doing well
Nice! Hope Tilde gets Heartworm prevent med monthly, flea and tick med as needed, worm med as needed, rabies vacc. etc.
Great update, Boss! Good to see you back to your Spring preparation and Tildy having fun playing bluff with the chickens. Lori is truly on the mend. I hope that Spring is truly here. Colder weather this morning..in DC. The sun is out and I am grateful for that. Have a wonderful week.
Been chilly here with the KQ burning 24/7. Lori is doing well but has a long ways to go to get back to normal her wrist.
Hey Boss, another UA-cam channel “ Surviving Ringworm” today commented that he used foiled bubble wrap on the bottom side of his 200 sq foot cabin in Michigan after seeing (maybe your channel) speak very highly of its insulating properties. Well, he gave a follow up after weeks of checking the inside floor temperatures and SAID, the bubble wrap WORKS. Hope this makes you smile……of course you already knew it works.

Did you notice any scum on the water in any of the ponds or lakes there when the ice went out? The lake I'm on in Ontario, Canada, had scum everywhere. I can only take an educated guess as to where it came from. I've been here 35 years of my life, and in the last few years, it's gotten worse every spring. In the old days, nothing. Mad scientists.... ya.
Yes indeed and it's the same here. This crap has killed off all the native trout in the wild mountain streams. There are none left. To catch trout here, you have to go to where they stalk them.

Michigan had that weather too. I was having fun on my 1025R Loader moving mulch around. Then 38* high. Just to say Winter is not over. Now we have 50* days. Thanks for the video.
Nice to see wildlife captures you got on the trail cams , Happy things are warming up well in your neck of the woods weather still messed up in Ontario Canada , Tildy was so cute with the chickens , Looks like Lori is doing better nice to see you both out working the gardens on a lovley sunshiny day with the birds all chirping. my place is still under at least 10 feet of snow, my snowmobile is sitting right outside the 2nd floor window right now. The neighbors started digging, they had a bunch of equipment and a whole lot of people out there. the snow blower is slowly making its way up the hill, probably be another week by the time they make it up the driveway.

I live a lie up in the NM desert and the chem trails are so bad here that we have thick cloudy skies 3 days out of 4 when we are used to azure blueness all year. Today we had some real clouds in the sky and the plains cross crossed the skies any way.
Do you have the Flight Radar app? If you do, you can see what planes are flying and the patterns they are flying in. We have really crazy stuff going on over here. Tankers flying in circles and figure 8 patterns for 4 to 5 hours twice a week.
Can you catch the Fisher and doctor his paw?
Not recommended but I'm sure he'll manage alright.

Porkies chew on everything.
There are certain channels I watch that are in the more northern sections of the US or in Mountainous terrain. Most of them start getting snow late October to November and they keep a snow pack throughout and into the middle of April The one exception is a channel I watch is Svalbard Norway. Those NA places Oregon, Minnesota, and a couple channels that live in the higher elevations of Idaho and Colorado have really been walloped with snow this year. Flooding is really bad in Idaho right now. My mountain Idaho Channel lives in a very rural section and there county road leads up to a national park. But the county chooses not to maintain the road so it is a battle right now. The mud is so bad that no motor vehicle can drive on it so the road is closed. I have no clue how his two youngest children(still living at home) get to school. He owns several 4WD Trucks and a Jeep yet the roads are impassible.
Nice to everyone up and about. Hopefully Spring has sprung yes we had 80's although next week mid 40's don't mind too much so long as it's sunny.

We had a Fisher in Manchester CT when we were there a few years ago, loved the area.... glad miss Lori is doing better, rehab probably coming..
A few years ago I worked security at Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale AZ, resident there had video of bobcat on his patio eating his dog food, javelina run around tɔɔ. Nature is great, again lucky you. God Bless and z keep on Boss... My friends, your the best..take carecand thanksbtill next time

We thought we had escaped a bad winter here in Michigan too. But when April came we have been getting snow. Every week we have had warm days then the temp plummets & we get more snow. Nothing really deep like in winter but snow none the less. Hoping this week's snow will be the last.

Been doing chores here in Copperhill Tn.,like filling up inner tubes, waxing kayaks,moving the sunning chair as so to cut the grass. Stop by if you're in the area, if I'm not home i've gone fishing. Will keep the light on for you.

Been a long winter here too. Had a nice warm week in the 80s here now back to cold and snow again. Ready for spring. I had some scrap pine from when I sided the cabin I'm in the process of building some nesting boxes and birdhouses similar to the ones in your previous videos. Been a fun project.

I am way behind on my youtube channels so I am trying to catch up. It is always interesting when I come across a mammal that we don't have in the south. I think I remember you showing us a fisher back a few months ago. I just read the Wikipedia article on these mammals. Their habitat and roaming range puts them far away from anything that I have ever seen. Since I am not a hunter looking for one would be highly unusual. It is really interesting that their young are called kits.
Most of the channels I watch are homesteading channels and I have increased my knowledge of the different livestock that are available on a homestead or farm. Cattle, Sheep, Goats and a couple farms raise the N. A. Bison/Buffalo. My granddad Currin raised chickens but ducks, geese, emu's and Pot Belly pigs were not a common sight. I have learned there are meat chickens and there are egg laying chickens and I have learned that a mean chicken can have a very short life and is bound for the plucker and a boiling pot.
Fishers are my favorite animal in the woods but they are very misunderstood. People think they are vicious and are blamed for killing everything when more often than not, it's raccoons raiding henhouses and stuff like that. I've had fishers in the same tree that I was in and also as close as 5' away and they are the most docile animal in the forest. Stupid people started rumors about them and now they suffer from people's stupidity and get shot at all the time. It's really crazy.
@@thebossoftheswamp I think there is a lot of nature that gets misunderstood. I enjoy nature but I don't know enough to really appreciate it. I have to see the good in it through people like yourself who are good ambassadors. That is not a copout on my part. It is just the reality I live in.

Hey Boss! Ken here. I absolutely love trail cameras. Love getting the pictures of the different animals. To see things that you normally wouldn’t see on a normal day walk. Those big bucks that are like ghosts in the woods. And people helping themselves to your stand. Cameras are great!

Tildy wants to help (keeping the chickens in line). 😊 I hope momma is feeling better and getting that wrist healed up in time for planting. Sometimes those wild animals are just too smart / camera shy for their own good. Great to see things are warming up, soon things will be greening up and everybody will feel better and can put the winter clothes away.
Lori has lost a lot of mobility in her wrist but healing up nicely.
Spring has sprung here in southwestern Nova Scotia too. It's 40F here right now at almost 10PM but definitely warm during the day. Living in an A Frame where the upstairs is pretty much closed off to the downstairs, it get quite hot up there so I hooked up my portable A/C today. The fan wasn't cutting it any longer.
Chilly and rainy here and the KQ is burning non stop.
Better leave that bubble foil on there for a couple more weeks or mama got to get you. Lol

It was a crazy winter (Long) here in Eagle River. The garden is doing well. You mentioned at the time of your posting, you hadn't started seeding. in that regards I would love to know how you make your potting soil and how you amend your raised beds from year to year. I remember the awesome cucumber harvest you had last year. All the best. Barb and Bob
Chicken poop and compost is what I use in the raised beds.

Hey, Jim, I finally made like #1!! We broke record annual snow 3 days ago and it has snowed the last 2 days so new records daily!
You can keep the snow. It's sooooooooo nice to have bare ground for a change.

Great to see all three of you out and about. Yes, winter was long even though in PA we never got much snow. I have been feeding the lawn and cutting the grass. And the bugs are already crazy. Wood bees every where. Take your time and chores will get done. It is so great to be alive and looking forward to another growing season. God Bless.

I should add we are at over 138" for the season. To be honest it's not unusual for there to be snow at least in the air for another month. No gardening yet for us.
We can't plant until the end of May but it sure feels good to be playing in the dirt for a change.

Tooearlyitis: common problem, my wife has it every year.
Suffering with it now.
You get a bunch of snow one day and the next day its gone. Shit we had 74 one day and 2 more feet the next week. It's April 23 and we still have 1.5 of snow still. 11.66 feet of snow for the year. 140 inches and still have 4 more days of snow coming yet this year. 7 month winter lol it's been 2 long
