Jim & Jamie D are so very fortunate to have experienced what they did with this wolf pack, to have been this close & personal with these wolves. Things are better now than they were years ago, but there are still those who do not understand & appreciate the family structure, emotions & complexities of wolves.

What a beautiful documentary. It touched my heart and l fell in love with the pack. So sad they had to end it and move the family.

I have always loved wolves. Naturally, I love this documentary. I have my own copy. From this documentary I picked up the name "Wyakin" (Nez Perz for Spirit or Spirit guide), I added "Hey" at the beginning for the word "Winter" in Athabaskan Alasakan. They have 20 or 21 words for "winter"; Hey being one of them. I put the two together for my American Eskimo (her picture is to the left of this blurb and made "Winter Spirit". That was in 2009. My Winter Spirit just died in August of this year. Every time I called her name I thought of this beautiful documentary. Keep up the great work. I miss my Winter Spirit greatly. But I have to look at the bright side of things. She lasted 15 years! She will forever be in my heart. Just like the Sawtooth wolf pack.

I love these animals as well, which Is why I made a petition to bring them back to my home state of PA. They were killed off by humans in 1800’s and now we face a serious deer overpopulation problem. I want to return the wolves and restore the health of our forests. If you want to help, search up “Change.org Reintroduce Wolves to Pennsylvania”. Thank you!!

I'm very sorry to hear that you lost your animal companion 'winter spirit'. I know how hard that can be. I've lost several dear animals over the years. I still think about them often. It hurts to lose a constant in your life that's been with you so long. We always wish we could have more time. I had 3 dogs for many years, they were always around for every hurt and happiness in my life. Then later they of course grew older and within a span of 1.5 years, I had to say goodbye to each of them. It was very difficult.
I still have my pictures, videos and of course memories but its never enough. If there is a heaven, I hope to see them and all the other animal friends that I've lost over the years again!

I’m about to order the book, I’ve watched this movie four times over the years! Have tried to find a copy to buy online but haven’t been able to find. I hope the Dutchers are still together.

I always wonder if the wolves ever got to kill the cougar?

I’d be interested to see how an actual wild pack of wolves would behave around a person like this

I don't think I would want to test that hypothetical!
I know wolves in the wild are naturally fearful of people, for good reason, of course. An easy meal is an easy meal, right? Let's not temp fate and just enjoy them from afar. 😂

@@MissysDomain yeah, but it’d still be interesting.

@AnonYmous-wm6wq sure! It would be. Are you wondering if the wolves in the wild would attack humans who might come near them or if the wolves would avoid the people completely? I don't think there is much room for any in between. The only in between I can see is if the wolves were curious. They may watch people from a distance. I doubt they would approach.

I must've watched this 30 times on UA-cam years ago. Totally engrossing and inspirational causing wonderment and a feeling of love for wolves and wolf pups. Much thanks for posting this video. I've searched for it occasionally through the years but could only get short clips. Thank you, miss Missy.
This film has convinced me to stop thinking of a group of wolves as a pack. Truly, they are a family. To help reintroduce them, I think we should drop the term "pack" and teach our kids to call them "A wolf family."

Thank you for your comment! I, like you, have watched this same documentary many times over the years. I absolutely love it! It's very heartwarming. How cool that Jim and Jamie were able to be involved in this. I always get very emotional hearing Jim reflect on his wolf friends at the end. He seems like such a kind man. I'm happy to know others enjoy this video as much as I do!
There were times throughout the years that I couldn't find this video, so one day, when I found it again, I made sure to upload it on my channel so I'd never have to wonder where i might find! 😃
I don't really see a negative stigma in calling them a wolf pack because it's just another name for what they are, family. ❤
