In 1831 Lee went to Fort Monroe, Virginia, as assistant engineer responsible for the outworks and approaches to Fort Monroe and preparatory work for construction of Fort Calhoun, now Fort Wool, Virginia.
The ship at 5:13 is the USS Philippine Sea. She’s an Aegis cruiser. I was on the commissioning crew for her back in 1989, and she was commissioned in Portland, Maine. Great to see her again. Thanks!
Don't worry about the Motoring Comments. Weather Drives Sails. Also glad to see you've settled on a plan for episode numbering. Nice, simple, easy to follow.
So Cool seeing you guys in places we were just at! We stayed in that same anchorage for 5 days just before Thanksgiving. Went to that same McDonald's and Fort Monroe. The Lock you went through looked different than the one we went through. We are heading South and took the Dismal swamp because our mast is 62'7" and the other route had a bridge that was supposedly 55' because of construction. Did you take the more eastern channel?
It was a plan we considered, but the hurricanes and lows would have just had us stuck in Cape May for too long. And our timeframe for travel included returning for the Annapolis sailboat show in time to grab a spot in the anchorage.
@@SailingFearKnot 🤯 lol, I REALLY forgot. ok, then I must have bought 30. It reaches from Stern cleat to bow cleat with about 12-24" to spare. I'd definitely go with the 40. That way you can cross them at the bow if you prefer. 👍
We've ran into Atticus and Capt Oso on the ICW in Virginia, and we said hi to Delos and nugget in Annapolis. All great people. I don't think I've met any sailor out here that I didn't like, everyone is so helpful and kind.

Awesome!
Thanks!
You bet!
I used to live in Hampton, VA. I never went to Fort Monroe, so it was neat to see it on your video! ~Melissa

Just want to help you with pronunciation spell Norfolk, say Nor Phuk. Thanks for the Video. Great your and info.
After being in the area a few days, we caught onto it. And then we started saying, What the Norfolk! 🤣
Curious why you didn’t go north through the C&D canal to the Delaware Bay, then up the coast of NJ?

How long is your Jackline? And would you recommend 2? My C385 due from factory end of month
If I remember, I think they are 38ft. Yes, I'd recommend 2. In hindsight, you can get longer than you need and just tie them off with a cleat hitch.
@@TheFosterJourney west marine sells 30/40/50 ft lengths - I would assume yours is 40’ - are you saying you’d go 50’ in hindsight?

Seems inevitable that you'll run into other UA-camrs eventually. Which ones would you most like to see?
