The usefulness of this feature comes into play if Runway learns how to do consistent characters, and makes it possible for users to include multiple characters interacting with each other in a scene. For example, I want to act out a scene with my friends, and have Runway convert that scene into the style I want, while maintaining character consistency in all of the scenes.

This is the same question I have had. Can these programs allow certain elements to be maintained across different prompts, or any you always getting the random number generator.
Remember when Star Trek TNG had those scenes in the holodeck where they’d ask the computer to extrapolate from a video or picture and recreate the scene in 3D, and back then that was considered a far distant futuristic technology? Well…

They must ( and most likely will ) add the possibility of adding an image sample to better direct the outcome. That will be a game changer as you can then probably produce anime or graphic novel films on your own
Have you tried to shoot your videos in a higher shutter speed? Doing so you will get less motion blur what will make it easier for the program to understand those fast moving frames 👍
As a 3D animator I can see how useful rendering something at a very basic quality and then outputting that to Runway to be rendered at full quality can be... One of my computers worked for a whole week to render one part of a commercial. So much time saved! What I don't think is useful is the fact that you are not able to pick and choose exactly what you want. Believe me, some clients are TOO SPECIFIC. This will improve as the technology evolves but right now its usefulness is pretty limited.
I've had decades of this, only a tiny minority have a real fine sensibility - most of them only become discerning once they become aware of the level of control.
How much does it cost to generate videos like these? Did it work in your first generation most of the time or did you have to generate multiple times to get what you want ?
Creative possibilities here are blowing my mind-from music sampling to imagery sampling, recreating. You could be the actor/actress behind every character created in a film. How about programming in the personality of one person based on all their public content and the looks of another person to create your new character.
As a CGI generalist who loves the process of creating, I cannot think of anything more soulless or less inspiring than software which does it all for you. It's great for people who have absolutely no talent, but what kind of artist would get any satisfaction using this stuff?
I'm convinced that your human creative process will stay in demand. We still have pianists, human chess championships, go championships, human-powered vehicles (such as bicycles), while machines can also do these things more quickly, and sometimes even better (cycling, chess & go).
it's also just not a usable replacement. Even if you got a solid image at the end of it, which you don't, the second you want to change things or maintain continuity or consistency across multiple shots it breaks
Yeah I used to think like this. . Then realised its made exactly for the soulless and uninspired.. mediocrity being the path with least resistance. Creativity is not a race to polish.. its the journey.. this isn't Creativity.. its polish.
So true but this is for Gen Z that has no talent and wants instant gratification. They actually believe they "create Art" and can't see the unnatural breaks and flaws in the motion. Probably why they can't tell a man from a woman any more. This low effort low quality works on them.
It's amazing technology. It definitely, in my opinion though, feels like creativity with Instagram effects or filters. There's a degree of that which is entirely unsatisfying because the work no longer feels like the bulk of what is being done creatively is by the creator, but rather by the tool. Maybe this will change in time as it becomes more normalized, or for generations who only grow up on these tools. But, wow, creativity feels more rewarding when we do it rather than the tool, I think.
As cool as it is… There’s almost no consistency whatsoever between shots. I think we’re all so fascinated by this new toy and how we can do just a few quick prompts and get something super cool, that we forget that there’s almost no rhyme or reason to the next output with the exact same prompt. It’s like herding cats. And it’s extremely addictive, so hours can be lost going for one specific shot, that can get to be very expensive if you don’t have the pro or ultimate plan. Then runway is trying to find another way to upcharge for extra little add on AI stuff. I’d say Hollywood is safe for now, they’ve still got the secret codes and prompts locked down, but the Genie will get all the way out of the bottle, it’s just a matter of time

Does anyone know if this will work if you take a 9:16 clip and just flip it to a 16:9 to process and then flip it back for display? Or does it only understand the image as a 16:9 with the top pointing up?
Great video. I love your channel generally. I just thought I'd mention something to you about your reference to Mandalorian (not to correct you, but because you have a curious and interested mind so I figured you'd be interested to know this). You were describing green and blue screen effects when you showed the Mandalorian clips, but their effects work flow is actually a departure from that and have been shooting on a really cool set that is essentially a wrap-around video monitor. Look into it a bit and I bet you'll get a kick out of what they did instead of blue and green screens. Great video (as always). I really like your channel!
Great video and examples! It shows a lot of potential, but I hope these A.I. video platforms will now focus more on maintaining a consistent character throughout multiple shots / videos. I mean, our own (fine tuned) characters and not the standard archetypes. All these A.I. video generators need to take the hurdle from short and funny video's to more comprehensive workflows and appropriate tools to tell more complex stories. I want to create my own virtual avatar and send him on adventures!
You wouldn’t want to pay for credits because the results are so bad most of the time you need unlimited because it takes so many iterations to get a good result .

Samson, thank you so much for everything you do. Your content is amazing. I was wondering, is there a way to make the character/protagonist consistent with this approach?
Firefly looks insane, but even tho I (have to) use Adobe, I really hope they don’t dominate. Like so many, I’m so sick of their greedy monopoly ways. Ai video is such a crazy Wild West right now and I’m loving it.
I doubt this product will replace high end VFX. AI video tends to look contrasty and softer compared to the original source. To make matters worse, it even introduces visual errors as seen at 02:12. However, AI can be implemented into existing VFX softwares as nodes that one can drop in to create interesting visual effects while still maintaining quality and consistency.
Thanks for your videos, I think you need to go a little deeper in the "how" and "why". For example : the dancing dude in green hoodie have a very bad bluescreen spill around him. This was not made with AI, they just added that flame in SCREEN, HARDLIGHT or ADD mode and used the background separately. If they cheat to promote their firefly module, that means they're not even close to be ready.

I'm curious if anyone has tried to copyright any of their video work created with Runway and if there has been any issues with protecting IP created with Runway's AI?
I’m very curious about how AI could be used to enhance video game graphics like in some of these examples here. There was that video and paper done using GTA V and training data from Germany (?) several years ago that was very fascinating and realistic without too much distortion, but I imagine it’ll still be at least several years until we see such technology implemented in real time.
I hate these ai apps and people pawning them more than anything. It’s like giving someone Microsoft paint and making them believe they’re Michelangelo. It’s like giving a kid a dictionary and telling him he is now Dickens.
The picture made by neuronets is still far away from clear image mady by traditional methods . It looks blurry, smudged, sharpedged and movements are often not natural.
Great video! This technology is already pretty good but it will be much better in the near future when open source models will appear and we could do this offline at home, modifying the models as well and doing all sort of crazy experiments. :]
People were starting to put Runway ML as a secondary choice. So we'll see if others return to the platform, or like me decide to finally pay for Runway ML.

I am CC Subscriber. Where do I sign up to apply for the Firefly Video Beta. Can't see anything anywhere? You mentioned "just go to Adobe Blog page" but you didn't provide any details of the URL in the video or in your video description. Any clues :)
I’m going to have fun with it. It’s like being involved kinda like making beats in a way. We deserve to tell our silly and creative stories visually.
Does anyone know if this will work if you take a 9:16 clip and just flip it to a 16:9 to process and then flip it back for display? Or does it only understand the image as a 16:9 with the top pointing up?
Interesting idea! I will try it out
Great video.
Thanks! I appreciate that, I will take a look
I got that Cogvideo locally. Wow, it's gotten good. Great video as always thanks Samson.
Thanks!
Thanks for featuring me!
Any time
Great video and examples!
Shame you really need to almost $100 a month option to get enough credits to play with.
You wouldn’t want to pay for credits because the results are so bad most of the time you need unlimited because it takes so many iterations to get a good result .
By their faulty nature, these are still toys but very likely to be proper tools so it's good that they're making money thanks to enthusiasts
@@tuna93 we're a professional media production company and we've used Runway Gen 3 for a major client's conference just last week and everyone loved the results.
So if you know how, Runway with Midjourney in combination with Fusion & After Effects and even Photoshop can most definitely be used for high end professional jobs.
Expensive simply because not a lot of competition. When Sora will be released the price of Runway will probably drop hard
They know that great open source models are coming, so they are milking the cow to get as much money as they can.
Is there a AI app (free to use) where I can make my own avatar, to use it in poses I can make from myself?
everytime I try this my model's face changes to somebody unrecognizable. any tips?
your thumbnail is HILARIOUS. good job
Is there a comfyUI workflow and models to do this?
Samson, thank you so much for everything you do. Your content is amazing. I was wondering, is there a way to make the character/protagonist consistent with this approach?
When I go to examples I do not have the same options. All I see are things like "a person in the crowd".
What happened to your live video just now it said you removed it?????
I am so sorry, I am going to make it even better
Excellent
It's up now!
Has anyone tried using slow motion footage to help the AI to breakdown the shot? Then speeding it up to normal speed for the final version.
It is just a shame Runway is so expensive for how any credits you get to spend.
Just be careful you might wake up and start protesting about your appearance.❤
Amazing, the possibilities are endless.
If they cheat to promote their firefly module, that means they're not even close to be ready.
i know how amazing runway is,, all my videos are made because of runway so its highly appreciated lol. Its a game changer
That is a Fantastic Quote, and I 100% agree with it and your thoughts. Perfectly expressed, my Friend. I really love your updates and manner of speaking. Cheers and Best Wishes to you.
Thank you kindly, this is warmly received!
This is the technology that would allow streaming sites to make different outputs into any style.
Make Stsr Trek Lower Decks, Prodigy, The Animated Series live-action or make TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT look Animated
Or make Discovery and SNW look like TOS
These are examples of what ai will be able to do in 5 years or less
but runway video to video gen 3 is not avaliable
Can anyone recommend a website/program, preferably the cheapest, that allows face swap in video?
Hi! Thanks for your updates and enthusiasm! I can really relate to what you want to create! If I join your academy with a monthly subscription, besides the courses I watch from home and the live hours with you, do I also get discounts on Midjourney and Runway? Since I want to subscribe to these two tools but, first of all, I would like to learn how to make films or videos with AI.
I should mention that I'm Italian and I speak and understand English fairly well. Thank you!
I always wait for your every video
I appreciate that!
Me too!
adobe didn't just train it with their stock library... their underhanded tactic also used imagery from every user until the massive backlash.
Great info! Favorite part was the excellent quote at the end. 😉
Glad you liked it!
First Painting was caught up by photographing Then photos & videos by AI Is it bad / good Does the effort of making something yourself without AI still pays off ??…
I'm curious if anyone has tried to copyright any of their video work created with Runway and if there has been any issues with protecting IP created with Runway's AI?
What is the video ai editor like this? But free?
interesting and promising. Once mature this will be truly mindblowing for creative types.
I want api for minimax and character consistency. also, complete movie machine that also adds cloned voiced from script. one prompt to complete movie.
I am speechless in a good way😍
Great video. Thanks for the inspiration!
how to add video or we can only add image
I’m very curious about how AI could be used to enhance video game graphics like in some of these examples here. There was that video and paper done using GTA V and training data from Germany (?) several years ago that was very fascinating and realistic without too much distortion, but I imagine it’ll still be at least several years until we see such technology implemented in real time.
I hate these ai apps and people pawning them more than anything. It’s like giving someone Microsoft paint and making them believe they’re Michelangelo.
It’s like giving a kid a dictionary and telling him he is now Dickens.
Very good presentation.
This kind of software could be standard on future devices.
Awesome Ai Runway!!!!!
People were starting to put Runway ML as a secondary choice. So we'll see if others return to the platform, or like me decide to finally pay for Runway ML.
Your thumbnail epic
Thanks!
😂
Special effects are real, practical. Visual effects are CGI, computer, digital. They are not the same thing :)
A.I., man, you should have done the whole video as her 11:27, just to test the new features out! Lol. Good video anyway, as usual, don't worry dude, we still love you. 👍👍👍
Next time ;)
If this feature is perfected, there will be a huge impact in gen video world.
waooo!!! everybody can be an artist now with those tools or the artist is the tool itself?
yeah the hollywood expensive sets gave the team full creative control, that Ai can not do
How do they keep the character the same
Christ on a bike! This is now like dream sculpting…wow!
werent we able to generate 60 second videos last week ??
Tried it out. It does some cool things, but so far I've just found it mostly annoying as it doesn't seem to follow prompts well and it tends to change the main character of the video in ways that are ugly/bad/wrong. I'd like the scene to change, but the main character's face to remain the same... it can't seem to do this.
So Hollywood is officially dead
The king is dead, long live the king
😂
Hopefully it does
Any new movies? None. Hollywood died last year
If film is all about vfx then Yep. But it’s more than that, probably this will expose all the nonsense
Very interesting and an excellent visuals in video. Thanks
You're my AI genius! And one of the people who got me started creating with AI! ❤
Same
The burning question to AI creators still hasn't been answered. "Why?"
it's going to be to save money isn't that obvious?
(and time)
To cut out most of the actually crewtive people so that everything will suck.
Thanks a lot for teaching us about all this crazy breakthroughs, what a great summary! Only downnote and it's no regarding technology: let's stop labelling older women as less attractive, please. The younger version is just that: younger. :)
