Was apprehensive to watch this as I enjoy your videos tremendously and feared you were returning to Canada. Thanks for staying. And thanks for sharing. 😅
There are more Spain videos on the way. I'm currently doing some traveling, there will be some Mexico and Hawaii videos coming in a bit. Thanks for watching!
Wow! This is great information to know how to end your visa with Spain. I would have never realized that there’s a process to leaving. Wouldn’t want to run into tax issues!
Thanks for watching!
good job !
Thank you for the information.
If you're able to share, what circumstances (excluding personal issues, of course) did your friend encounter that led him to leave after only 3 months?
Hi, he said he just didn't think it was a good fit for him. He couldn't connect with people (he is bilingual), and found it small with a lack things to do. Maybe Valencia or another big city might have been better. He grew up in South America and lived in Canada as an adult. I think he was hoping for more of a South American feel. He also had a hard time finding a good apartment, I think he was in three different places in three months. He is currently down in South America and seems to be enjoying it there.
We are a Canadian couple from the maritimes currently wintering in Argentina, we will be back home for at least 6 months. You definitely are very informative. Im curious as to the tax implications for Canadians living in Spain. I realize that Spain is significantly less expense that living in Canada but after dual taxation is that still so. Would love to see a video on this subject. Cheers
Hi, Argentina, sounds amazing. There is no double taxation as Canada and Spain have a tax treaty. But Spain will tax your global income, basically any tax paid in Canada is applied in Spain as a credit. I file my first tax return this May, a video should follow.
Thank you, I did a little reading up on the tax treaty for us as newly retired we may not see as much of a financial benefit from living is Spain, relative to their tax rate compared to the Canadian rate. I believe as a non resident and at our income we would see a flat 25% tax from Canada. Which because of our ability to income split for tax purposes is very similar to what we would be taxed as citizens. I know as in Canada in Spain tax rates will very per autonomous state...Thanks for the reply looking forward to upcoming videos@@TheEmptyMiddleSeatTravel
