With hard work and determination all is possible ! I was an Hispanic Immigrant McDonalds worker and now an ER doc. One of my very intelligent friends did not match and just worked 2-3 random jobs one being MD consultant and re-applied the year after that, and got in. Now years later has an attending job lined up ;). keep up the work and faith !!!!!

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am an international dentist about to graduate from a CODA accredited program in California for international dentists. My dream has been to become an orthodontist and unfortunately I did not match this year, which was devastating news. I was thinking about all of the things you said at the start of this video but I won't be giving up after this! Thank you for the inspiration to keep moving forward towards that goal!
I love your videos I’m 13 but when I grow up I want to be a heart surgeon so it’s good to watch your videos just to know more and get an early start ! 💕
Wow your a Doctor and Dentist which is a doctor as well. Thats amazing 👏I need to go through your other videos. It's awesome your helping so many people! Awesome!
If you don't match, grab a prelim spot somewhere you see yourself living. Maybe something opens up and you get a categorical spot or go into research to build up your resume. Dr Rabah is absolutely spot on with her advice
If you end up having to go through an internship year will you still have to go through 4/6 years of residency or will that still count as your first year assuming you secure a spot the following year? As a D1, your videos are extremely helpful as I try to put my plan together for the next 4 years! Thanks Dr. Rabah!
I’ve been out of dental school for almost 13 years. Everyday I think about going back to do the 4 year OMFS. I admin iv sedation (was trained in local OMFS program to admin iv sedation and obtain a sedation permit) and am a General dentist. Wonder if programs would consider all of the experience over board scores. Concerned about taking entrance exam. Awesome videos.
Thanks so much Dr Rabah! I’m applying in 2021 and it’s good to know what options I’ll have next year. How do you find out what residency programs didn’t match? (Do you need to call them each individually to find out?)
I absolutely love your UA-cam as I find your passion amazing . I would appreciate if you can make captions available for all your UA-cam as I as a deaf viewer would understand your UA-cam far better with captions. Keep up with UA-cam but having captions make a huge difference for deaf viewers
This video misinforms, because contacting, or having someone contact a program on your behalf, during SOAP (unless the program initiated contact first) is considered an NRMP violation.
What would options 2 & 3 look like for anesthesiology? Advanced/Transitional/categorical for this specialty just confuses me. I know it’s a little out of your area but you did really break it down in better ways than I’ve seen before. And what’s really the difference between your options 2 & 3 ? 🙏🏻 Thanks
Oral & Maxillofacial surgery offers 4 and 6 year programs but you have to go to dental school first. Then you match and go to a 6 year program and integrate with 3rd year med students and earn your MD.
I ran into the same problem. I have a workaround to that, if you have Office 365 Powerpoint, it has auto caption built in. I just redirect the youtube audio to the powerpoint app and get captioning. It's pretty good. Good to see fellow D/HH MD/DO candidates or graduates!
Dr. Rola may I know what will be the cost of studying medicine in USA and few good collages or University I am from INDIA I am very eager to study there Pls...
Honestly it's very expensive for International students because they make the tuition more expensive. Are you from a wealthy family? I think average cost per year is $30,000 for tuition alone. So with room and board and food it might be close to $40,000 a year. You have to ask around about achilorships though, they can lower the price.
You will need about 215,900 US Dollars, which is 15.8 Million Rupees. It is also much more difficult to study medicine in the US as an international student because you need to graduate from an accredited undergraduate institution from the US or Canada.
I have several friends who I went to undergraduate (initial college training) with who were not U.S. Citizens. Several of them planned to become citizen and also Texas state residents by living in Texas for 5 while applying for citizenship. I believe they were here with an education visa. Then you can apply to a Texas medical school with Texas resident tuition rates which are some of the lowest in the nation. There are A LOT of complexities to this that I do not understand or know about but this is a plan I heard about. Unfortunately, I lost touch with these collegues so I do not know if they were successful. Good luck with your aspirations!
Did dental and then medical school in Switzerland. Grew up poor, was poor during my university time. Had to work part time jobs and was a part time emergency dentist at my university during my medi school and was still below the countrys poverty level but was not starving, had to set my priorities straight. A lot of fellow students came from well off families but no all!

Doc
If a Program that interviewed ends in the Scramble/SOAP with you, that therefore means they DIDN’T Rank you..
Just a small correction there

I guess if you love baking..!

Amazing video with great information.....i have a little question... do we get paid during the prelim year?
Can you finish your residency off of preliminary stop?
Details about medicine , cost , what should do ,better one pls
Thanks for this very informative and please can you tell what to do if there is any gap of two years after graduation?
Great video
Thank you Christabel!

Had you ranked your current residency first?
is USCE needed to match in non catagorical internyear for imgs
Whats a good email address to official communicate to you doctor?
Thank you
Can you participate in post match if you did not have any interviews?
Yes
Wait how are you both?
why md and dds
How did you do medical AND dental school? Did you leave medical school for dental school? Are you both an MD and dentist?
