Got ON-EA8 QSO with 15W EIRP in CW and it's not an uncommon distance. 60m is a good DX band and an NVIS if you chose the antenna to do so. Enjoy.

That is excellent! I've not worked more than 400 miles on 60m. I plan on using it more this winter, when out portable. What's your antenna recommendation for 60m?

@@theradiorover please don't laugh at me. I'm using a 13.5m inverted-L (about 9m straight up in a tree), the lowest point is at 2m height, elevated radials from the same length. The system is this fed with 450Ohm twin lead. The twin is ended with a coaxial current balun before entering the asymmetric antenna tuner. It's about 1/4L on 60m and I also use it on 40 and 80m. Is it a good reference ? Probably not, but radiates most of the power at low angles. Good luck and good DX on 60m. Patrick

I have 60m on the transceiver and never tried. What a shame... and just noticed my EFHW8010 also works well on 60m. Thanks for the video 😁. 73, YO6DXE.

Yesterday, in the late afternoon, while on a French SOTA summit, I gave 60m a try. Compared to 40m very quiet, but at least a S2S! During the day and with the current SFI value, 40m works for NVIS as well, but it's so crowded.

Hi Stephan, I agree that 60m can be a bit hit or miss. Great to hear you had a summit to summit though. I plan on using it this winter. Like you, I find 40m very crowded at the weekend, especially if there is a contest on.

Those set frequencies are mostly for UK though, other countries have it as a "free" band

Yes, I thought I mentioned it was a shared band in the UK. I really should have said to check the bandplan in your own country. I've added it to the description.
