What’s funny, is this is actually great advice. I’m in bronze, and I will usually drop 4-8 kills in the first two rounds, and then proceed to get 1 kill across the entire rest of the game lmao
If it makes you feel any better, higher ranked players make the same mistake as well. It’s an important enough topic that I felt that I needed to make a video on it, and also because I’ve been seeing a lot of improvement in my own aim from learning proper tension management.
haha same, first 3 rounds is my strongest but i admit, i mostly play agents like harbor and use my utility for my team not for 1on1s. But I know why, i have to be extremly patient soon everbody got vandals etc. with smaller weapons u can turn the game quicker, because the range and damage is reduced. I now have i would say middle good aim as shown as in the beginning of the video, but i play on really slow sensitivity and sometimes my problem combined with the tension is to place my mouse in the center of my mousepad again after quick turns, if u tensioned u really make it a mess that looks cutted, if u relax its just one smooth motion...i play on 6400 dpi 0.022 sens...lol dont judge me xD But i have to say 1 thing for high tension - there are situations where it works fine, like when u do triple or quadrakills with bursting them from behind or because they stand in line its 2 or 3 second situation its like shoting a gun and need to be relaxed on the shot but dont underestimate the recoil just to imagine lol and same is it ingame, all that what makes it so hard is the recoil, so even if u miss the first shot, where does the second go? only 2 ways - 1 u wait for the recoil to reset and shoot a shot again or 2 u shot the second straight after the first and control the recoil - i get many headshots choosing 2 but if they are standing next to each other, i see thats the next step cause i need 2 shots for one guy, i can aim on the head of the second but soon im there im dead cause i took 2 long...
Lol. Im literally the opposite. I just keep dying with no kills in first 4 to 5 rounds till my teammate started getting toxic and ff. I ended the game with mvp in a losing team 😂
Makes sense, I topfrag early and slowly, I feel like my aim is getting more and more off. So this explains why, I forget to shake my hands, often, but when I stand up after I die to get a cold drink, my aim somehow returns. Thanks for the enlightenment!
This is actually a very great advice. I took my time to aim, now I hesitated on every shot. I think tension management really is something I have to work on, instead of taking my time because you don't really have enough time to line up that shot.
Don’t get me wrong, telling people to “just take their time to aim” may be helpful for players who have a bad habit of panic spraying. But if you’re in any rank above Platinum, taking your own sweet time to adjust your crosshair is _definitely_ not the solution. You die hella fast in this game, and aiming slower will only make it worse.
@@nullcmdval As a Silver 1, I agree. I do see people not liking the "take time with your aim", but trust me when I say this, I lost so many fights that I could've won had I just been a little more patient with my shots. By that, I mean actually aiming for the head instead of panic firing and hope for the best.
@@MeeMeep41 I’m glad that advice works for you! I think many people take it out of context to mean literally slowing down their mouse movements, when what most players should actually focus on is discipline during gunfights - for instance, burst firing instead of spraying with the Vandal.
@@nullcmdval I agree with you on every point in the video, but not in that comment. I was stuck in silver for some time, and now im stuck in gold, but it also applies there. If you peek you are dead in milliseconds. Not enough time to aim slowly, even in my deathmatch matches.

Just found this video few days after the "you have more time than you think" videos. everything mentioned so clearly. fact that i get nervous too easily
This video is actually good. The part where you explain how to flick properly like tenz really helped me a lot. I didn't know you have to be tense in some places , because all the videos I've watched really brainwashed me into thinking that calm tension is the only way to go. Great video. Got me from averaging 15 kills to 25 or 30 kills
taking your time is a good tip for newer players working on their technique, of course taken out of context, it sounds dumb, but when your just trying to develop a good technique, taking your time helps you be more intentional and mindful so that you can keep good technique as you improve and naturally become faster. I do love your video though and have been stuck trying to figure out how to deal with the tension in my aiming arm. to the dm we go.🔥
I honestly think that “take your time to aim” can be worded a lot better. A lot of players interpret it as literally slowing down your mouse movements in game, but the main issue here is actually a lack of discipline. You need to approach every gunfight with the mindset of tapping or burst firing with the rifle, rather than panic spraying the moment you see an enemy. That, and the underlying reason which is not staying calm during gunfights. Cheers!
@@nullcmdval exactly, i went down that rabbit hole thinking i was improving yet i was literally letting myself get one tapped in the name of "take your time" now i'm learning to just be disciplined and tap tap tap while strafing. guess who's dying less now LOL
actually life changing advice. I went into a comp game and immediately had a 64% hs percentage in ascendant lmfao. I feel tense the most playing several games after a new promotion. I often feel like I have to react faster because of better enemies, which often tanks my accuracy. This is the first act I've played and from bronze to platinum I really felt less confident with my aim during each promotion.
Damn you ranked up from Bronze to Platinum and this is your first act playing? You’re insane bro keep it up! And yeah it is pretty ironic how we tend to tense up in order to make up for a perceived difference in skill level, when in reality simply relaxing our aiming arm will help us be more precise with our aim.
@@nullcmdval same here, ranked up from Silver 1 to platinum 2 within a month of my first act. But as a former CSGO player, it wasn't that hard. Since CS2 sucks, I decided to switch to valorant. I am aiming to reach diamond by the time this act ends.

Great video and tips to keep in mind, but I do think at lower levels the mantra, "you have more time than you think." does actually hold up. People at Radiant will click your head in under a quarter second, but the bronze player that's had the game for two weeks is going miss three free shots on you and start spraying 9 times out of 10. A lot of people miss a ton of shots due to rushing even when the enemy is staring at a wall or door looking for something else while you have your crosshair hovering over them. I think movement and first shot accuracy are probably the biggest game changers for new people looking to not die every time they turn a corner in this game. Aiming is secondary to not being the guy who rushes through doors getting sniped every round, or loses out on free kills because you have to shoot as soon as you possibly can against people who still can't hit a head shot unless the spray pattern Gods give them a statistical miracle.
You know what I just happen to experience this today while playing in TDM, usually I would end up with like only 10-15 kills but I was especially calm during that particular match and notched up 30+ kills
First video ever in gaming tips i like to it bro thank a lot As you explain i remembered that i was good at some point hitting one taps ; i got to exited I wanted to keep this level up and improve it but i got Worth and i know why now thank you ❤️🔥
Strafing bots in practice range helped me develop this "calm aim" tech. Still developing but there are good results. This vid helped me understand why that is. Thanks;
i think it also helps to remain calm in game is to play a calm songs in your spotify whiule playing ofc you gotta adjust the sound that it wont affect your in game sounds. i use this method sometimes when i feel really anxious to trick my brain from over aggression anxiety
This may be the reason why we get stuck in a rank for a long time, but eventually reach higher. As long as we're at the same rank we get comfortable around it and reaches the next rank, then again too much attention, you get pushed back several times, you get stuck in that rank & as time moves you get into the next rank. If I don't fix this, I might be able to reach Asscendant in the next 7 or 8 years.
Are u that dumb? Lmfao! Pls explain. Coz ur comments just doesnt make any sense at all lol! Ive been playing cs 1.3 and i have one of the calmness aim in valorant and ur telling me this nonsense? Lol! Where did u even get this st*pid thoughts of urs? Hahahha!
@@fireninja7564TenZ doesn't have anything close to calm aim. He flicks and moves about really fast. He never takes time to kill. His mouse movement is same like CS. Same goes for every CS pro that transitioned to Valorant. In CS, you can't thrive with the so called calm aim as everything happens so fast. Players with thousand of hours over several years in CS will never have that typical calm aim. Also honestly, calm aim will only help in ranked. That style ain't working in pro plays. Enemies won't give u time to adjust your crosshair.
this is so true, i never realized ! i am from severel fps like CoD, Paladins or Fortnite and i had to work a lot to get a calm aim. My girlfriend who started fps with Valorant just got a natural calm aim.
i was so confused why i used to do pretty good in a 1v1 with my friend and cant even do smthng like tht in a comp game i just realised i am always tensed this advice rlly made me know whts holding me back
I've noticed what most people consider bad aim is actually misreading enemy movement. That first guy whiffing was judging the enemy movement incorrectly. He aimed exactly where he wanted to.
I'd also recommend to not burn yourself out before hopping into a comp match. It was the standard that I'd do a Swiftplay/TDM/Deathmatch before going into competitive, but I found that to actually burn my mental. I've had much better experience just going straight in versus a warm-up.
I think the best tip that helped me aiming good consistently is turning off your brain while dueling the enemy even in ranked. What do I mean by that: 1) You don't have to be a headless chicken. Focus on your decision making, positioning and crosshair placement instead of tracking and adjusting. 2) The reason why you don't have to focus on tracking and adjusting is because of your training. You (probably) spend 5-15 minutes warming up before queuing up and train some time after matches. You have enough muscle memory to afford not thinking about general basics of aim. If you don't think and still suck, being overwhelmed won't help, take your time practicing. It's more fun than it sounds. It will also help fighting against much more experienced opponents. If you just don't care about who and how you fight, you will find yourself on top of the board much more often.
I completely agree with you and this has been my experience as well! That’s why I only recommend being aware of your tension levels while you’re doing targeted practice in a DM. Contrary to what most believe, ranked isn’t _that_ serious and it’s perfectly fine to win or lose some gunfights. Don’t overthink it too much!
A very well said video and not too long. I agree with this but i also want to add a point, i used to be flashy with my aim using duelists/initiators. But then I wanted to train my tension, so I switched to sentinel, i focused on higher hs% using chamber/deadlock/viper and i got consistent with lower deaths. Ik there are some duelists out there that have "calm" aim, but for me what worked was using agents with passive abilities which made me more composed.
That’s a very good point! When you take abilities out of the equation (apart from buy phase) it makes it way easier for you to focus wholly on your aim.
✋im guilty of telling players that they have more time to aim in a fight :p this video got me to rethink what it means to have calmer aim. cool video! ya learn something new every day
Hey man! Don’t get me wrong, telling players to take their time can be extremely valuable advice too depending on the context. For instance, some players may struggle with a bad habit of panic spraying, and the simple act of allowing themselves just a couple milliseconds to calm their nerves before a fight could make all the difference. Thank you so much for leaving a comment by the way! It is really cool to see other creators watching and interacting with my content. You’ve presumably been doing this UA-cam thing for far longer than I have, so kudos to you man 🫡
1:13 That's so true. Usually i get 20+ kills on Unrated but yesterday when i was playing comp with random teammates, I ended up with 4 kills and 0-13 ;)
@@MiSo-gb2zq If you’re dying way too quickly then I suspect the underlying issue may not be your raw aim itself, but other aspects of your gameplay such as movement, positioning etc. I can’t really pinpoint specific issues without a VOD of your gameplay, and unfortunately I’m currently not doing any coaching for viewers. Maybe try asking for advice on Reddit or a similar community? There may be other high ranked players that are willing to help you out. As for your last question, it’s important to note that while Aimlabs will make you a better aimer, it won’t necessarily make you a better Valorant player. You can think of Aimlabs as going to the gym as an athlete. Sure, it may supplement your aiming routine, but it isn’t a replacement for actually playing the game itself.
Calm aim is easy to achieve in any game, just take a deep breath and remind yourself “if I die in this game nothing bad will actually happen to me” just relax your body and your grip on the mouse, I used to have “chaotic aim” but I started taking deep breaths and relaxing my body, my aim went from shaky to nice and smooth, also learning to aim with wasd for games with strafe aim really helps.
This is indeed true, i’ve been doing warm ups in the range, at the end I usually do hard bots, with tension I get at most 11-14 kills with snappy flicks. With ease and less tension, I hit 19-21 consistently
Its funny cause i unintentionally came across this concept when playing. All my friends went through the mistake of constantly changing their sens when ever their aim was off, whereas i kind of realised that the games where my mechanics were more on point was the ones where i was consciously thinking about how hard i was gripping
Just got back after over 1 year. Tomorrow I will head straight into the Practice👍 All of the Advice sounded pretty good. Since I tried to play yesterday and almost only hit feet and 1 bodyshot
recently, 1 week ago, I was trying to change my mindset about setting the crosshair to the enemy. from crazy flicking to smooth tracking, and yeah I felt more comfortable with that change, so I try to keep it consistent with this calm aim (still my issue was 60hz for choosing smooth tracking instead of crazy flicking due to disadvantages device)
Honestly i am half-way to a proper calm aim getting the right Tension in my Arm, literally destroying my enemies, also putting some Mental in this just trying to not care on the outcome of the game but the outcome of my skill's, this means that i'm trying to focus in learning and not caring about the rank and this is taking improvement to my skills, as i'm being accused of smurfing more and more, and now i'm focussing on game-sense, this will keep going for every rank, especially when i'm in play i'm sure i'll need a new fresh game sense instead of Aim, as Aim once you learn for a few ranks is good like it is, the important is having consistency to be honest. Nice advice by the way!
I’m really glad I could be of use! Your mindset is already way ahead of most players who get too caught up in worrying about gaining or losing RR. Focusing on improving your skills as a player is exactly the right way to approach ranked.
I think most people just explain it wrong. Calm aim is simply the wrong description. What they really mean is that you don't rely only on flicking and spraying like a madman, especially before you are even on the body of the enemies. This is why this video is freaking awesome. Calm down yourself, don't grip your mouse like your are climbing on a stone wall and trust your muscle memory in combination with a good pre aim. You are fast when it comes to the micro adjustments and the rest is the "calm" part.
i guess all the garbages i found in youtube was a time killer for calm aim. but this video is deifferent literally. we all valorant players just wanted a master piece video like this.
i understand it for the most part what i really suffer from is as u said i lose consistency as the game progresses but my limbs also get colder for some reason even if i am in an oven my hands are icy cold and my legs become springy similar to a care w bouncy suspensions
Best tip is focus on the target, not on the movement. If u laser focus on your target and remove all distractions from your head(stress, all the pressure to perform and all external things even playing in a room you have to clean and u subconsciously know it, all this matters when it comes to focus and you tensing up)
Aw man you leaked the secret technique. Funny thing is that I kinda knew about this from when I was plat, imm 3 now. I play a lot of osu and have great nerve control. I have 35% HSP this act. And it's not like I was a cs player before. Calm aim carried me until ascendant, after which I actually had to use my brain.
That is true. I noticed that lately when my left clicker in my mouse stopped working... xD I was pressing it so hard that it just told me that he had enough xD
Finally, even just in 3 mins of the video enough has been said already. Not like the recycled bs guides by other YTubers and Pros "yOu HaVe mOrE TiMe tO AiM tHaN yOu tHiNk" over and over again. It's all bout having calmer nerves then follows precision, backed by consistency and discipline. Thanks for the advice!

damn finally a good video abt this topic, love u bro
You know what I just happen to experience this today while playing in TDM, usually I would end up with like only 10-15 kills but I was especially calm during that particular match and notched up 30+ kills
First video ever in gaming tips i like to it bro thank a lot
As you explain i remembered that i was good at some point hitting one taps ; i got to exited I wanted to keep this level up and improve it but i got Worth and i know why now thank you ❤️🔥
Thanks the real advice I needed ❤
Literally the best video on this topic that I've found, and also too real (1:19).
Strafing bots in practice range helped me develop this "calm aim" tech. Still developing but there are good results.
This vid helped me understand why that is. Thanks;
thanks mate, putting words on this will probably helps me to adapt more efficiency in ranked
Glad I could help!
i think it also helps to remain calm in game is to play a calm songs in your spotify whiule playing ofc you gotta adjust the sound that it wont affect your in game sounds. i use this method sometimes when i feel really anxious to trick my brain from over aggression anxiety
This may be the reason why we get stuck in a rank for a long time, but eventually reach higher. As long as we're at the same rank we get comfortable around it and reaches the next rank, then again too much attention, you get pushed back several times, you get stuck in that rank & as time moves you get into the next rank. If I don't fix this, I might be able to reach Asscendant in the next 7 or 8 years.
tbh most people have calm aim simply because they never played CSGO before and valo is their first game
Hahahha!
I think u forgot about tenz HAHA
@@fireninja7564and like 70% of pro players
@@fireninja7564TenZ doesn't have anything close to calm aim. He flicks and moves about really fast. He never takes time to kill. His mouse movement is same like CS. Same goes for every CS pro that transitioned to Valorant. In CS, you can't thrive with the so called calm aim as everything happens so fast. Players with thousand of hours over several years in CS will never have that typical calm aim. Also honestly, calm aim will only help in ranked. That style ain't working in pro plays. Enemies won't give u time to adjust your crosshair.
this is so true, i never realized ! i am
from severel fps like CoD, Paladins or Fortnite and i had to work a lot to get a calm aim. My girlfriend who started fps with Valorant just got a natural calm aim.
thanks for the advice, I needed it
❤
Glad I could help!
Thanks! My flicks are now a lot smoother when I do a 180 and die from behind because I forgot we have a Sage instead of a Cypher
this is exactly what i struggle with i tend to tense up my forearm a lot and try to lock on to the head sometimes i over or under adjust
i was so confused why i used to do pretty good in a 1v1 with my friend and cant even do smthng like tht in a comp game i just realised i am always tensed this advice rlly made me know whts holding me back
Glad you found my explanation helpful! You’re gonna start tapping heads in your next comp game :D
@nullcmdval the vid is insane ngl it really helped me win the next ranked but the enemy was dog water
I've noticed what most people consider bad aim is actually misreading enemy movement.
That first guy whiffing was judging the enemy movement incorrectly. He aimed exactly where he wanted to.
i hunt for great informative and *actually useful* channels like focus and haeyoday, seems like i found another one !!
I’m really honored to be part of that list. I’m just a small creator who’s trying my best ❤️
respect for not producing slop content like other valorant videos
I try my best!
What do I mean by that:
1) You don't have to be a headless chicken.
You’ve presumably been doing this UA-cam thing for far longer than I have, so kudos to you man 🫡
4:03 bro flicked to his head before his bullet leaving the gun reached him that’s insane
1:13 That's so true. Usually i get 20+ kills on Unrated but yesterday when i was playing comp with random teammates, I ended up with 4 kills and 0-13 ;)
Of course there are other factors as well, such as your ranked MMR being higher than your unrated MMR, but ranked anxiety is still a thing :)
@@nullcmdval Same thing happend in comp few minutes ago ;/
Edit: Before i can even aim they kill me instantly. Is aimlab enough for aim practice?
@@nullcmdval Thanks a lot
legit, this is great!
thanks!
You're welcome!
Finally good advice bro. I agree with you other calm aim videos have trash advice
pbj analogy is beautiful. i came.
Gonna be honest, at first i couldnt tell if it was a real voice or an ai voice
Beep boop I’m a robot
No way this dude is real. His voice sounds too good for a real human being.
Hands: wait for crosshair to hit head and shoot
My brain controlling my hand to spray and pray
This is indeed true, i’ve been doing warm ups in the range, at the end I usually do hard bots, with tension I get at most 11-14 kills with snappy flicks. With ease and less tension, I hit 19-21 consistently
thanks, now i’ve gone from iron 1 to iron 2!!
Its funny cause i unintentionally came across this concept when playing. All my friends went through the mistake of constantly changing their sens when ever their aim was off, whereas i kind of realised that the games where my mechanics were more on point was the ones where i was consciously thinking about how hard i was gripping
Sounds like you were already way ahead of the curve!
I just got to the game last week and this shit looks so complicated and fun to learn at the same time
Hey welcome to the VALORANT community! Wishing you a pleasant journey ahead :)
Just got back after over 1 year. Tomorrow I will head straight into the Practice👍 All of the Advice sounded pretty good. Since I tried to play yesterday and almost only hit feet and 1 bodyshot
All the best!
incredible advice!!
This really better than “calm down you have more time to aim”
Fax, sometimes I play while high as a kite and my aim is god tier
recently, 1 week ago, I was trying to change my mindset about setting the crosshair to the enemy. from crazy flicking to smooth tracking, and yeah I felt more comfortable with that change, so I try to keep it consistent with this calm aim (still my issue was 60hz for choosing smooth tracking instead of crazy flicking due to disadvantages device)
@@nullcmdval Thank you man!
Watched this then went 40 and 6, love you
@@NatesHonor I’m glad I could help! And insane performance keep it up 👍
not expecting a future canoe reference in a aim guide video😂😂
I think most people just explain it wrong. Calm aim is simply the wrong description. What they really mean is that you don't rely only on flicking and spraying like a madman, especially before you are even on the body of the enemies.
This is why this video is freaking awesome. Calm down yourself, don't grip your mouse like your are climbing on a stone wall and trust your muscle memory in combination with a good pre aim. You are fast when it comes to the micro adjustments and the rest is the "calm" part.
That’s a perfect summary! Cheers :)
ngl you explained it prefectly i think anyone would get this
Thank you!
Goated advice
watching "u are powerless" is cool to learn more thing
i guess all the garbages i found in youtube was a time killer for calm aim. but this video is deifferent literally. we all valorant players just wanted a master piece video like this.
this is so goated !!
the sandwich method actually clicked something in my brain
u deserve more !
i quit valorant yesterday and this gets in my yt home page today
how ironic
Finally some real findings instead of those fake " calm aim " videos❤
i understand it for the most part what i really suffer from is as u said i lose consistency as the game progresses but my limbs also get colder for some reason even if i am in an oven my hands are icy cold and my legs become springy similar to a care w bouncy suspensions
Best tip is focus on the target, not on the movement. If u laser focus on your target and remove all distractions from your head(stress, all the pressure to perform and all external things even playing in a room you have to clean and u subconsciously know it, all this matters when it comes to focus and you tensing up)
Blud watches Future Canoe .
Thank you for yer advive mate .
Sounds like you were already way ahead of the curve! Most people would be surprised at how far tension management can take you.
I recently started doing this and then stumbled on this video and i had no idea it was a "thing".
I have +40% hs across the board. I can say this video is actually incredibly helpful
Don’t be shy, tell your friends about it!
Thats actually really helpfull video
tfw heisenberg's uncertainity principle whiffs my shot
People searching calm aim? I thought i finally found video where is taken different point of view on aim topic :D
That is true. I noticed that lately when my left clicker in my mouse stopped working... xD I was pressing it so hard that it just told me that he had enough xD
3:37 mrekk osu clip spotted 🗣🗣🗣

Simply put, slow is smooth, smooth is fast, you start practicing accuracy over speed and speed comes later. All you require is patience
Never heard of this guy but this is peak advice

Thanks mate!
Peak advice tha k you im cureently bronze 3 in silver lobbies now im bronze 1 on plat lobbies thanks!😍😀😀
Can't wait for the next video to tell me to use my eyes to track the enemies down
Finally, even just in 3 mins of the video enough has been said already. Not like the recycled bs guides by other YTubers and Pros "yOu HaVe mOrE TiMe tO AiM tHaN yOu tHiNk" over and over again. It's all bout having calmer nerves then follows precision, backed by consistency and discipline. Thanks for the advice!
Glad I could help!
