10 brakes on a semi. 4 on a car. Average car weight is 5,000 pounds. That's average from sedan to a diesel pickup. So a car has 1 brake for ever 1,250 pounds. A loaded semi is roughly 80,000 pounds. So that's 1 brake for every 8,000 pounds. A empty semi is average 30,000 pounds with 10 brakes. Still 3,000 pounds per brake.
In conclusion a semi needs more stopping distance than your average vehicle on the road. Simple math proves it. People with who lack common sense will still not understand after I laid it out clear as day.
Dashboard cam probably saved the trucker's license.

Brake checking an eighty thousand pounds behemoth will always go wrong.

And we appreciate that thank you ok my kids love when I come home
Yes thanks for your courtesy. I exercise it all the time even when I'm in any of my rides. I always find it unbelievable all the people who does the total opposite from you. They cut us off with no warning, drive next to us while they play on their phones, speed up when we are passing them but only speed up to match our speed which in return slowly creates a mini traffic jam as faster vehicles pile up behind us while the person we were simply passing drives next to us, I mean it goes on and on and on. I always appreciate people like you.
I understand not all truck drivers are "professionals", but mofos like me who takes driving serious appreciate others who do as well as it seems like we are a dying breed. People are becoming more and more selfish/entitled at an alarming rate

Dash cam paid for itself right there 🤙🏻
how so? isn’t the truck driver at fault no matter what?
Bryan Griffin I'll explain it to you. The truck driver was clearly maintaining his lane of travel. The operator in the Chevy avalanche changed lanes in an unsafe manner in front of the truck and he failed to leave sufficient space between vehicles when changing lanes. The actions of the operator of the chevy 100% caused this accident. Those big rigs are heavy and can't stop on a dime . Having the video clears the truck driver 100%. What would testing have changed? People don't have an attitude change because you make the retest every ten

The title says 'Oblivious'. That pickup driver wasn't oblivious. He/she was looking to get paid. In other words - insurance fraud. Truckers just make damn sure your dash-cam is in working order! :-)
Guy driving the truck is a insurance scam artist , glad this rig has the footage
Why is this in everyone’s recommended?
Is there an update on this? I'm sure we can all agree the pickup is the cause for this accident. But cops and insurance companies love to say "if you hit somebody in the rear it's automatically your fault". Then they proceed to tell you that you were "traveling too fast for conditions". And, "If there is congestion you should be going slow enough to react to any situation to avoid an accident". Again, this isn't my opinion. This is what my guess the guy driving the semi is going to have to deal with. Luckily he has video evidence showing him maintaining consistent speed and staying within his lane. But I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't an "open & shut" case. Good luck. Unfortunately for every honest, hard working guy, there's an equal amount of idiots out there looking to take away what you worked hard for. And by you staying there, that kinda relaxes me to because now I'm not worried about you loosing control of your car when you pass me and taking us both out.
I feel this comment in my soul man...I cant stand people being in such a hurry to get around me...speed limit is 70...that's what I'm doing...be safer behind me...get in front of me and brake check me??? Well you just signed your death warrant
That guy did a Unsafe Lane Change ! His Fault.....not the Trucks
I feel like this was an attempt at insurance fraud tbh
Everyone should have a dash cam.
Wow... Glad I have my dash cam. They pay off. Good job😀
How much they cost tho?
@@WakeNBakeBro mine was a hundred dollars 👁️👁️

Insurance scam
Smells like that don't it? But what kind of idiot want to play chicken with an 18 wheeler??
Looked ON PURPOSE to me!!! Stay away from big vehicles!!!
Colleen Catlady Hardesty The first bump was not. There are just too many incompetent dumb fucks on the road...
Stilian Ivanov seems Colleen is trying to say the Chevy Avalanche cut the trucker off and brake checked on purpose.
Lol brake check a 70 000 kg rig that cant stop well in a 3500 lb truck... must be a smart guy
That truck weighs at least 4500
@@rickyspanish5326 u know what I ment lol
@@rooster6271 haha

@@deathatthefeast5326 sorry I ment kilos lol
Trucks cannot stop as fast as a car. I hope that idiot got a huge fine
Takes 3 football fields for them to stop going 45MPH.
@@DolphinOfFire Oh, good grief that's just not true. Quit lying.
Don’t mess with trucks!!!!! They fuel your livelihood and most everything you use daily. They need special consideration...especially with all the impatient drivers on the road.
Robert Bollas . Not good reasons. Don't mess with them because they are dangerous. All that other stuff is glory and self interest. Glory and self interest is not how to critically think on the road.
C Ch totally agree! I’m trying to dumb it down for the general population. I am way too privy about the road. I figured to try and ration with some of the ignorant with a simple comment to spread awareness. U do know there is a shortage of truck drivers, correct? I’m not trying to troll you. I’m just informed.
Looks like it's an insurance scam.
Stupid to do it to a truck. Don't most have dash cams?
That's one high stake insurance scam. That truck could've got caught in the front and been crushed
You must be a really bad driver if you don't notice a huge semi coming up on your side.
The semi wasn't coming up. The pickup had just passed it. This accident is unreal.
In America this is a career. The problem is he won’t be charged. I wonder what story would have been told if The truck driver kept quiet about filming
Insurance scam, watch the blue SUV ahead of the avalanche. They knew what was going to happen.
Read the description... She was following the suv. Obviously she had trouble keeping up
Most trucks in the US have dash cams though, so there’s really a small chance that the scam would actually work. People are stupid.
@@rocknlouie That was a good analysis and I think you're %100 right.
Toby Dog my dogs name is Toby
@@AnthonyStatenMusic bullshit. Fraud attempt 100%
Moral of the story "never brake check a semi, you will lose"
Big truck with lots of zeros. Everyone wants easy money. Drivecam is here to save the day. Soon drivecam will be in every motor vehicle in America. Too stop stupid from happening.
I would always accelerate while being anywhere around a semi
Good the trucker hasa camera. Cause im sure the driver tried to put the blame on the trucker
The truck driver is driving in the left lane. He shouldn't.
@@jayback4660 truckers have the right to pass. Ur basically saying they dont. Did you see how slow the lanes on the right were going? Truckers have a deadline to meet. He aint got time to run the freeway at 45 mph.
So funny instead of speeding up, he put on the brakes! It’s like he wanted to cause an accident. Insurance $$$ anyone!
