Rumor has it that they will be taking the Durango back to its roots of being a body on frame SUV "truck" rather than a large crossover in 2021. It's sad they are waiting that long but if they can basically make a RAM 1500 with a full length body and 3 row seating I think it would be a major hit considering the competition. Besides being the only ones to probably offer a high real world MPG V6 (no turbocharged bs) along side the world famous 5.7 Hemi, as it would share a lot of RAM 1500 tooling. That would be the end all for SUV's if they could make the thing tow similar numbers to the RAM and make it the true ultimate family hauler. Also adopting the RAM's air suspension, 12 inch touch, ludicrous amounts of storage, and maybe even the etorque system if it proves a success. Not bad looking. It is very much a specialty car because no many families will need this kind of HP. I needed a family car and decided on the 2018 Explorer Limited. I really enjoy the styling and the 290 HP and 310 TQ is not bad on the ecoboost 4 cylinder.
I laughed so hard at the end, while he's standing there with his hand on his hip trying to figure out what to say, the camera guy is just like "I'm just gunna sit here a throw rocks" lol
What they NEED TO DO is reduce parasitic drag. Which can be done very easy. Once they do it will get better MPG and more power to the ground. As in requards to exhaust sound. ANY vehicle can be modified to have a louder exhaust sound.
You could get an SRT Durango as a family hauler, but then you'd have to start paying for that thirsty 6.4L Hemi and that poor Chrysler reliability. (Nonetheless, its still a good car for the money but the R/T would be a bit more reasonable)
What's the obsession and or advantage of power folding mirrors? I've owned cars for a lifetime and never bumped a mirror. be nice to fold them in when going in a narrow garage but when I'm parked it doesn't seem to matter. It would just be another inconvenient way to get in a vehicle. Slow door opening slow startup. Is so much technology in the way of just jumping in a car.
I needed power folding mirrors on my Silverado for my garage. However, don't you see the people all walking, looking down at their cell phones? Why get them an opportunity to take out your $600 mirror? That's one good feature on the Kia, on some of their models, the side mirrors fold in when you park it.
Durango is ok. Not bad for a old platform. Its definitely is not bigger than a tahoe. I own a yukon denali and its wider taller and longer than a Durango. The Durango needs to be redesigned soon. But the SRT is pretty good looking to be so old. It has aged well. And there nothing like a good old gas guzzling V8
Do you think it's a big risk to take this offroad? I mean, it's practically sitting on the ground! I wouldn't dare chance it and risk hitting something underneath...
The Durango and Grand Cherokee platform was actually made by Chrysler and at the time Mercedes owned Chrysler. Mercedes actually took the platform from Chrysler and the ML and the GC were supposed to come out at the same time but Chrysler was going through its bankruptcy and so the ML came out before the GC. It's NOT a Mercedes made platform, it was made by Chrysler and used by Mercedes
I tend to gravitate towards conservative designs but this one is a bit too pedestrian. It's ostensibly appealing to consumers who like the boxy look. I think there is a way to pen the design so that the overall look doesn't offend, but unsophisticated lines traced with a straight edge isn't exactly hitting the right notes. I think they missed the mark here.
웅이 I think the front end is unique and awesome in itself, and is reminiscent of the modern charger, but I think you’re right, a lot of the proportions of the car seem off, especially from its side profile. They need to fix the awkward shape of the car
The Mercedes chassis it's not solid, the Dodge Durango gets a marginal rating for the small overlap crash test. And the Jeep Grand Cherokee gets a poor rating for the passenger side small overlap crash test
That being said these platforms had been out before the IIHS rven released the small overlap test, every car that had a platform designed before that test isn't great.
Fruitableee YT that's not an excuse for the bad rating the Mitsubishi Lancer in Mitsubishi Outlander both have platforms older than the test and they both pass multiple other companies passed as well so I don't understand the point of your comment
Honestly I forgot crash ratings exist let alone use them as a shoping tool. But good to know, although none of those cars are within my shopping list anyways
Good thing you're no engineer because the structural/torsional rigidity of the chassis is _no_ indicator of crash test performance! More people acting like they know shit they don't on the internet.
All Dodge and Chrysler vehicles need an interior update. The interior of most of their vehicles look the same, the center stack is too familiar in any car or SUV. That’s my biggest complaint on their vehicles. The $45,000 300 model looks the same as the $23,000 Jeep Compass.
Would really love to get this its my favorite looking suv and has crazy power...but with the experience from my last Durango I feel it's taking too much of a risk. Most unreliable vehicle I've ever owned.

Love the color looking for one probably with the black stripe kit.
What they NEED TO DO is reduce parasitic drag. Which can be done very easy. Once they do it will get better MPG and more power to the ground.
As in requards to exhaust sound. ANY vehicle can be modified to have a louder exhaust sound.
I have a 2018 Durango GT, love the car. I leased it, will buy one after my lease is up if everything goes good.
Don't have srt money but I have the gt with the captains chairs in the 2nd row and I love it
You could get an SRT Durango as a family hauler, but then you'd have to start paying for that thirsty 6.4L Hemi and that poor Chrysler reliability. (Nonetheless, its still a good car for the money but the R/T would be a bit more reasonable)
Incorrect. Smiles per gallon
Why is this dude still making Reviews he hates almost all brands like wtf smh 😂😂😂😰
He likes (loves) Euro brands, especially Porsche.
I can't watch of this video, this guy makes me want to take his lunch money
What's the obsession and or advantage of power folding mirrors? I've owned cars for a lifetime and never bumped a mirror. be nice to fold them in when going in a narrow garage but when I'm parked it doesn't seem to matter. It would just be another inconvenient way to get in a vehicle. Slow door opening slow startup. Is so much technology in the way of just jumping in a car.
some mirrors dont fold at all, i dont think its speciifcally "power" folding
I needed power folding mirrors on my Silverado for my garage. However, don't you see the people all walking, looking down at their cell phones? Why get them an opportunity to take out your $600 mirror? That's one good feature on the Kia, on some of their models, the side mirrors fold in when you park it.
Calvin Sanders use mine all the time, parking at the airport, my tight parking deck at work, etc.
I use mine to see if the car is locked
Durango is ok. Not bad for a old platform. Its definitely is not bigger than a tahoe. I own a yukon denali and its wider taller and longer than a Durango. The Durango needs to be redesigned soon. But the SRT is pretty good looking to be so old. It has aged well. And there nothing like a good old gas guzzling V8
I heard the Bugatti Chiron ss will have a whopping 17 hp. Made my jaw drop.
I wish dodge will offered a Durango rt shaker 392. But at the 2016 SEMA show that was a concept model, wishing it go into production.
Cool. Now build a pickup on this same platform, Dodge. Dakota 392 SRT.
Do you think it's a big risk to take this offroad? I mean, it's practically sitting on the ground! I wouldn't dare chance it and risk hitting something underneath...
You ever taken a Subaru off road?
@@mitchellsteindler haha never sir!
Would not recommend taking SRT’s off-road or any new Durango for that matter, the Jeep Grand Cherokee (non-SRT) is a better bet.
@@AngryYodel That is exactly what I was thinking!
Getting a Wrangler would be the better option
the eco mode is in the srt modes go to auto mode and press eco
I thought you were 5'9" as you've said in other videos, not 5'7" but I understand. I appreciate this and other videos. Very helpful.
Why do the water pumps go bad every 20k?
Performance in a segmant probably not often bought for that with horrible gas mileage for a segmant that needs as good as you can get.
Beautiful car. Only $400/ a month. 😂
Thumbnail made me think this was in GTA V 😂
Bigger than a Chevy Tahoe. Really. Cool.
I feel that he is did a poor review keep comparing it to the track hawk that’s smaller lighter versions of what the Durango
They need to fix the awkward shape of the car
when u mentioned its Mercedes roots I believe the durango from what ive heard is based of a Mercedes GL
ML platform
This guy is the reason why vehicle prices are getting higher.
Buddy just called a 2018 Durango old🥴
The Mercedes chassis it's not solid, the Dodge Durango gets a marginal rating for the small overlap crash test.
@@ALEX-sh3tx That's because Mitsubishi updated them to be in compliance...
Good thing you're no engineer because the structural/torsional rigidity of the chassis is _no_ indicator of crash test performance! More people acting like they know shit they don't on the internet.
I want to buy it but the only problem is that it's really bad on gas😢
My favorite suv
When Michael Mayer’s is in your rear view mirror and you don’t notice 😱🤣 6:07
You guys need a fact checker quite a few errors in this video
I’m a Dodge and Ram guy, but based on past experience with Durangos, let’s just hope this thing won’t visit the workshop frequently.
I wonder if they will supercharge the Durango
Got to love the plates...
The front wheel offset is incorrect and makes the front wheels stick out further than the rears giving it an odd looking stance. Cmon Dodge!
They should have made the back end more good looking and shortened it to make it a suv
Good review, highlights all the good and bad of this beautiful SUV,but i still want one.👍👏👌👍👏👌👍👏👌.
Mt.Hood in December and it's sunny? Wow.
Michael Cline This was filmed back in Sept. it was the last video we filmed at AVA.
@@theredline lol I figured.
It’s funny when you rev the engine or accelerate, because my captions tell me there’s music playing in the background.
I'm pretty sure it has a Mopar 311 Platform. I might be wrong though
The ending... my favorite part...
Deep Thoughts.....
Elevation Brain Funk!
The eco button is on the screen 😂😂
Seems great until you get 1,000 miles in, and the problems start to show...
Chris Brown so you have owned every single Dodge Durango SRT and can confirm these problems?
I have 17,000 trouble free miles on my Durango SRT. The tires have low tread life but other than that it’s been perfect.
I had 17 durango srt - and it was returned under lemon law. Dodge techs cant resolve the same transmission codes were whole car goes to a limp mode .
Lol
@@jd5179 2017 Durango SRT? They only came out as 2018 models
when doing these with the upgraded models, can you please go over the stereo? is it worth the upgrade, etc? thanks
Who said family haulers can't be boring after all? :)
No spare tire?? Its under the back
Do you prefer this or the jeep srt? Is handling wise almost the same?
15 horsepower hyper cars
Man, ain't nobody trying to take a 3 row SUV around no damn corners! Get off that.
Wait the headlights are XENON Low/Halogen High or Full Xenon?
1026 Studio $2936 SuV studio
All Dodge and Chrysler vehicles need an interior update. The interior of most of their vehicles look the same, the center stack is too familiar in any car or SUV. That’s my biggest complaint on their vehicles. The $45,000 300 model looks the same as the $23,000 Jeep Compass.
Love the design
Would really love to get this its my favorite looking suv and has crazy power...but with the experience from my last Durango I feel it's taking too much of a risk. Most unreliable vehicle I've ever owned.
