I think you misunderstood my comment, what I meant is that regardless of how many miles the vehicle has when obtained, most owners will use the vehicle for 100k miles or less before they move onto something else.
That's about the same economy I averaged in my '94 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 V8.. and about 2x the list price of mine if I remember correctly. Probably 10 x the fun. Now for that winning Powerball ticket...
Man O War Totally man! I've been in one. Great interior. Nice commanding view of the road. One of the most comfortable third rows in the class. There is just so many great things about the Durango that I cant list them all.
CareerFireman you could always get one of those sweet Tahoe rst that does nothing better than this Durango srt I mean it's slower interior isn't as nice doesn't look as good and here's the kicker is more expensive so have fun with that.
I drive a 2000 R/T DAKOTA...if I take a trip this will make some of you say no way but care to come down to Houston and drive to Dallas and the beast will hit 20 gpm, sorry miles per gallon, mpg I know but at ABOUT 200k and not liking the 96 and up trans because they went to solenoid shifting and unless you follow the mfg.recomendations on trans fluid changing frequencies..you will have problems my 96 ram reg cab short bed lock up went out at q85 and all I did is went to MOPAR an bought a converter rebuilt and just changed it it went 248k before acting up after I pulled the motor at 190k I got totalled on the freeway and put it in a gen 2 DAKOTA and went a best of 13:42 at 99, few mods still have it but I did get a 14:42 AT 95 in the 96 ram before being totalled, these old magnums are fun...get the performance computer from c hrysler and the 2300 stall, and some 3:92s and enjoy the stop ligths...all the high hp new cars don't hook all that good....but would love to put the 392 in one of my Dakota why the motor bolts up to my trans mission.and the gen 2 DAKOTAS weigh much less than the new darango....come on BRING back the mid size pick up and put in the 292 and we'll do the rest........when I was 17, I put a 392 from a IMPERIAL in to a 52 Chevy club coupe and drove it... stick with one brand MOPAR is fine with me! also raced a 69 ROAD RUNNER to a best of 10:69@125 back in mid 80s with laugh control a TACK that 6 grand was straight up and launched at that on 4:88s 14x32s on the rear...coil overs and ladder bars.. never got a 60ft time...it was hitting 100 at 1/8 mile.....it was a 440 6 Pac motor with a tm7 and a holley 800 still have the ROAD RUNNER looking to put it BACK this time with a 500 STROKER AN yes it you know how to drive one it will be a stick shift with launch control.....just GUESSING it won't be a 6000 k but high enough to hit 2nd great in the air....and post videos of it..
I owned a 2001 (Gen 1) Durango with the 4.7l V8. Loved the design, but the best average fuel economy I managed was 16.5 mpg. It was certainly a versatile vehicle, but I cringed every time I had to fill it up.
I had a 98 with 5.9 and 16.5 was oddly best i could do first yr they were out i think it was anice truck i drive a charger daytona rt 06 now miss that truck hated the second gens though
Amtrak 2523 My sister has a 2016 Journey SXT AWD. Honestly she loves it I think its comfortable, and seems well built, it's also a beast in the snow. It has the "Pentastar" V6. She's had it for almost two years now, and we haven't had a single issue with it yet.
NO!!! Buy a v6 Durango instead! You can probably find one close to that price now a days, much better quality, more room and the 8 speed transmission makes a HUGE difference. Ive driven a rental v6 Journey and it was sooooo different than my v6 Durango. The quality seemed very outdated and it creeked and cracked down the road. Its an old design whereas the new Durango style has kept up and is far better.
medranofamilyCA The Durango is a great car. The Journey is a great car as well. Buy what you like and what you can afford! You can’t go wrong with either of these vehicles.
Amtrak 2523 I went in to the dealership set on a 2015 journey crossroad, white, blacked out chrome... the works... beautiful suv.... test drive it... check engine went on, smoke smell.... 3rd row could barely fit a kid... went back to the dealership disappointed... was offered a 2015 Durango sxt... same engine mind you but boy did it drive smoother and so much more room. Price was about the same and I’ve never regretted that decision. A nice preowned SXT can be found for around $20k nowadays. In my opinion, it’s worth it over the Journey.
When you drive this beast, you say fuck the gas mileage. But for a 5500lb 475HP vehicle, that’s pretty good fuel mileage. I have a 87 Chevy pickup with a 350ci motor putting down close to 500HP and gets 10 MPG.
I'd want the 707 horse power engine in mine and for those that are gonna say oh it gets horrible gas mileage well morons you don't get a high horse power vehicle to save on gas but for thrills and the bragging rights.
A man's SUV. And you can snarl at pesky stiff-upper-lip "holier than thou" people when you bring it to Indonesia. Durango is a Police SUV that really snarls... in my eyes. Yeah! Right side of the steering wheel, though. Heh heh heh....
thrasherx2k1 it's a FIAT , not necessarily a bad thing . Just hope the electronics hold up with the rest of the vehicle and it should be somewhat reliable
Climate change is the most dire issue of our time. We need to so everything we can to stop the use of fossil fuels. So here's a car that will use all of it up as fast as possible 🤣
Its funny because I was thinking exactly this today while driving my Durango! I was thinking, wonder why they havent put the eco diesel in this yet? Would be an interesting alternative to the V6 but they better get the issues fixed on that eco diesel before they do that
The poor man's RANGE ROVER S.V.R., I'll TAKE IT. Just FAST ENOUGH, & 3rd row, also. I just keep hearing nightmare stories about QUALITY CONTROL pertaining to FCA products.
Squirmin Herman the one eyed German I'm not even sure what that means. but yes I would own a new Mustang. especially over that pile of garbage Dodge in this video. but I'm probably going to stick with Porsche over any Mustang.

I've been watching Motor Week since the early 80s, very cool that John Davis still hosts
Joe Cap you Don’t care. You just wanted to say how you’ve been watching since the 80s wow dude you’re such a fan cool
@@shane8911 dude calm down
John Davis is legendary.
Yazeed Saber binge watching the retro stuff is awesome.
Been watching him since I was a kid
Been watching since I was a kid I'm 73 now
So is Motorweek itself. That’s why people like this show so much.
Legendary douche…
Still gets better mileage than the 5.7 Sequoia lol
rowdytitan that is a fact
The sequoia is a giant gas burner
rowdytitan
Small price to pay for reliability.
The Sequoia will still be on the road twenty years and 500,000 miles after the Durango dies.
Most people don't keep a vehicle for more than 100k miles so that argument means nothing to me.
rowdytitan 100k is just breaking a car in
I think you misunderstood my comment, what I meant is that regardless of how many miles the vehicle has when obtained, most owners will use the vehicle for 100k miles or less before they move onto something else.
Of all those big 3 row American SUVs, this is the coolest, prettiest of all.
Love the front end of the SRT Durango but it jus still looks regular from the back. Either way it’s still a beast
13.0 flat is great pretty quick for the Durango
I had the same thought! 👊🏽
Mr. TAMW that's quick for 99% of production vehicles out there.
Herbert Johnson yea ok
Mr. TAMW I've gotten 12.8 stock
I've gotten a 12.8 in sport mode with no launch. Get consistent 4.3 as well with no mods in 0-60 in Ohio humid insane weather.
Wish I had launch control on my wife
ao954 ap954 just when thought the wife jokes got old.
lemme teach that bitch of yours!!!
Bro, I was eating and watching videos but when I read your comment, I almost shocked myself. That was funny.
LMFAO BROOOOO 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just keep pushing buttons on her interface and you'll find it. Near the mute button I think.
“Dodge just doesn’t do boring”
That's about the same economy I averaged in my '94 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2 V8.. and about 2x the list price of mine if I remember correctly. Probably 10 x the fun. Now for that winning Powerball ticket...
One of the best SUV’s out there. They are not boring everyday vehicles like the Ford, GM or imports.
Great time parameters on this suv the fact that is as quick as a mustang GT is incredible
This is the best 3 row SUV for the dollar.
Man O War facts
Man O War absolutely
Man O War Totally man! I've been in one. Great interior. Nice commanding view of the road. One of the most comfortable third rows in the class. There is just so many great things about the Durango that I cant list them all.
CareerFireman but give it a year too and you will be able to get that SRT Durango for the mid-forties
CareerFireman you could always get one of those sweet Tahoe rst that does nothing better than this Durango srt I mean it's slower interior isn't as nice doesn't look as good and here's the kicker is more expensive so have fun with that.
One of these passed my up on the highway yesterday. Impressive exhaust note, but I can't imagine any other reason why I would want one.
Saw alot of NHRA teams using these at the track recently and I fell in love! Then I saw one rippin' out of a parking lot aaaand it sounded badass
I love this car
I figure I'll buy this car in 3 years when I can afford it
mrburt820 true shit
Hell yeah
Get a charger 6.4 scat pack and save money.
Truer words never spoken.
Good luck with maintenance
Wish Dodge would put the widebody on the Durango like the Chargers and Challengers....
Bang for your buck high performance suv. I wish Dodge would've put the 707 in the Durango.
coming soon to my driveway
Ran my 5.7 into the ground and loved every minute of it.
What's a fair price to get my Durango wrapped? I'd definitely come there if I were closer
My girlfriend’s parents have a Durango!....
Unfortunately not this version.
Ange ditt fullständiga namn. Are you trying to say she’s curvy? Wtf?
If you fill those seats with kids you'll make them happy grandparents ;)
YeOldeGamer ooooooooo SEE WHAT YA DID THERE!😂

and put in the 292 and we'll do the rest........when I was 17, I put a 392 from a IMPERIAL in to a 52 Chevy club coupe and drove it...
stick with one brand MOPAR is fine with me! also raced a 69 ROAD RUNNER to a best of 10:69@125 back in mid 80s with laugh control a TACK that 6 grand was straight up and launched
at that on 4:88s 14x32s on the rear...coil overs and ladder bars..
never got a 60ft time...it was hitting 100 at 1/8 mile.....it was a 440 6 Pac motor with a tm7 and a holley 800 still have the ROAD RUNNER looking to put it BACK this time with a 500 STROKER
AN yes it you know how to drive one it will be a stick shift with launch control.....just GUESSING it won't be a 6000 k but high enough to hit 2nd great in the air....and post videos of it..
Donald Powers you yap to much
No braking test? Suspension test?
muscle cars have turned into sports cars and suv's are the new muscle cars. love it.
I luv this car. But i wish it comes with full bench in the back.
Great family car
SPicy rEns it's great because I can go to work, then bring my kids and their friends to activities then go to the track on the weekend
Matthew Schaefer true this is why dodge is better than trash chevys
Matthew Schaefer And not to mention tow 8700 lbs!
This is a steal considering a Tahoe which barely has more cargo space is pretty much the same price
Keye Haze I agree with you
Lol um why was that one piece going to the air box so dirty
what are those stipid little things on the front under the bumper?
EcoBoost f150's
These cars are special man just like the r63 Amg was a unicorn
We live in Houston and average freeway speed is 15 mph so the base model is more than adequate
Perfect daily drive
I owned a 2001 (Gen 1) Durango with the 4.7l V8. Loved the design, but the best average fuel economy I managed was 16.5 mpg. It was certainly a versatile vehicle, but I cringed every time I had to fill it up.
David Giles I too had a 4.7 in a grand Cherokee of the same year. Very thirsty engine for the power output.
Should have bought a minivan
i love the 1st gen, all she needed was a gen3 hemi & 8 spd auto.
I had a 98 with 5.9 and 16.5 was oddly best i could do first yr they were out i think it was anice truck i drive a charger daytona rt 06 now miss that truck hated the second gens though
My buddy had one, the exhaust note was awesome for stock.
I need this vehicle in my life!!!!
I love FCA products, they stir my soul as much as Mazda’s and Mini’s.
Yes sirrrrrrrrrrr. What a looker.
Needs straight pipes or delete
Maxxas Crow doesnt make it that much louder sadly
Matthew Schaefer It'll still sound more badass
Iove these durangos 😍
Just wish they were body on frame and had better ground clearance like the older gens, they do a bit better with heavy loads and off road.
I just can't see springing for Hellcat power in an SUV. This thing has plenty of power. The Trackhawk is cool and all, but it doesn't sell.
13/19/15 isnt bad! It is better than our 5.9R/T first gen Durango while making more power.
Just got a 2022
I love this man
I have a 2018 Durango RT. Not a hot rod, but for $20K less than the SRT it's a lot of vehicle for the money.
Can't wait for the Hellcat verison
No joke but is this the same man who did the retro reviews?
Yup, he's been doing this a looooong time. Since the early 80's....
@@JrGoonior that's pretty cool!
Hey Motorweek, why don’t you do a review of the Dodge Journey? I would like to see what you guys think of one of the lowest priced SUV’s.
The Dank Lord Thank you for the information. I will buy the SXT with the V-6. It’s on sale for less than $20,000.
NO!!! Buy a v6 Durango instead! You can probably find one close to that price now a days, much better quality, more room and the 8 speed transmission makes a HUGE difference. My frontier with a 4.0L V-6 just barely gets better gas mileage than this hulking V-8 machine.....
I so want one !!!!!🤯🤯🤯
The only suv you can get with three usable rows and a V8 for under 50k
HEY FORD WHERES THE PERFORMANCE VERSION OF THE EXPLORER TO COMPETE WITH THIS
Why are dodges so heavy? Why not keep the horses and drop the weight?
Can't be the frame...
1:00 listen closely: you can hear this motor eating it's own cams for lunch :-)
Has Chrysler ever built a reliable transmission?
Brandon Murphy yes. Keep up . Its not 1980 anymore
Yep.
5 people drive Priuses
Love my DD
J Castro My daily driver sucks.
J Castro which version do you own?
I loves dds too
had a few dodge trucks the transmission s blow
Durango and the Jeep use the Daimler M-class platform of course it feels better than the expedition and Tahoe.
still better fuel economy than my 03 durango with the 4.7 lol
When you drive this beast, you say fuck the gas mileage. But for a 5500lb 475HP vehicle, that’s pretty good fuel mileage. I have a 87 Chevy pickup with a 350ci motor putting down close to 500HP and gets 10 MPG.
13 flat in the quarter!? fuckkkkk
Awesome 😃 👍
Did you mention the MPG?
I get about 15 mpg in mine...
Super awesome
I ordered a 2019, take delivery next week. Gofundme
Ramchargers🙌
"Dodge doesn't do boring" Uhhhhhh have you seen the Journey?! And let's not forget the Dart 😂
Wow! I want!
Good car.
$64k for this, you might as well save up for the Hellcat.
Waylon Miller Yeah, honestly we shouldn’t compare a SUV to a 2-door sports car.
Durango Grand Cherokee.
Some big BUCKS for a Dodge - no resale Shiite.
Who would prefer a SRT over a Trackhawk.... I'll take the extra over 225hp in the Trackhawk!!!
Sweet...
I'd want the 707 horse power engine in mine and for those that are gonna say oh it gets horrible gas mileage well morons you don't get a high horse power vehicle to save on gas but for thrills and the bragging rights.
Launch control on an SUV. LOL!
Shawn Daybell it works very well
To each his own and even more so when someone else is paying.
That color doesn't do it justice.
QUENTIN30 CDUB needs to be black
John Miller or white.
QUENTIN30 CDUB mine is in that color but the color called bruiser gray is the best
Looks
90/2000s
I like it....😉
John fukkin Davis
No way this Durango is better then the Track Hawk.
You mean Dodge Bros lol
A man's SUV. And you can snarl at pesky stiff-upper-lip "holier than thou" people when you bring it to Indonesia. Durango is a Police SUV that really snarls... in my eyes. Yeah! Right side of the steering wheel, though. Heh heh heh....
Stay in the middle take the V8. GT.
For 64k I'd rather take a Porsche Macan instead. This just like too mundane.
FCA really needs to come up with some new vehicles, rather than putting bigger V8's in old-school vehicles.
I would say Durango has been junk ever since Fiat bought Dodge, but the truth is it was junk way before.
Nope just get an hellcat for that price
But it’s still a Chrysler
thrasherx2k1 it's a FIAT , not necessarily a bad thing . Just hope the electronics hold up with the rest of the vehicle and it should be somewhat reliable
True, everyone I know with a Chrysler car or truck Always have major problems and poor warranty service.
mercedes chassis & excepting the engine, a mercedes drivetrain. & suspension.
64k lol Dodge will be laughing at the fools who will buy this lol.
Ptguy0618 many people that buy one will finance it and will be below broke
Climate change is the most dire issue of our time. We need to so everything we can to stop the use of fossil fuels. So here's a car that will use all of it up as fast as possible 🤣
is it just me or u can hear the lifters lol
fack this.. $65K, a gently used Land Cruiser is a much better buy...
The Durango will only raise my interest when Dodge does something useful like putting the Ecodiesel in it. Come on Dodge, do it already! :P
The next geneartion durango will be BOF on the new ram platform so an ecodiesel is likely to be offered
I just keep hearing nightmare stories about QUALITY CONTROL pertaining to FCA products.
this suv will be worth its price at 20k miles lol
It'll be rusted out and burning oil within 3 yrs. Its a Dodge
I will never buy anything made by chrysler or dodge or fiat or whoever owns them now. too many other better and better looking options out there
One 7 Decimal 2 Eight 👎
Squirmin Herman the one eyed German I have a porsche. I'd own a Mustang over that thing. or any car really. dodge is garbage. problem after problem.
Squirmin Herman the one eyed German I'm not even sure what that means. but yes I would own a new Mustang. especially over that pile of garbage Dodge in this video. but I'm probably going to stick with Porsche over any Mustang.
One 7 Decimal 2 Eight well alright. What knocked the dodge flavor out of your mouth?
Squirmin Herman the one eyed German you ever drive a challenger? I have. they are big. and heavy. handle like crap. and have too many blind spots. they were cool when they first came out. after driving them and seeing the leftover mercedes tech that was used was funny. there were mercedes bits all over that car. almost like they went to the Mercedes parts bin and just started grabbing leftover mercedes stuff and threw it on the challenger.
I will drop ZERO dollars on this and any other FCA vehicle.
Good to know, that makes sense that you watched this video and decided to comment.
Good. We dont want to see you in anything other than a kia
Says the guy with a gm pic, subpar quality
When your butt hurt becuase your chevy got beat by a mopar
Matthew Schaefer your chevy and gm vehicles caint touch fca and srt performance
