This video was shot 4 weeks before Russia invaded Ukraine. I am devastated by what is happening and my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this war. If you want to help, my friends @YesTheoryare currently in Poland and have started a GoFundMe to help Ukrainian refugees with food, water, and necessities. They have already raised $500,000, and 100% of proceeds are going directly to help save lives: Donate here: bit.ly/3N5jQGJ
Okay, now onto the description of the video... Riding on the Trans-Siberian Train has been a bucket list adventure for me for as long as I can remember (8 years?). The train starts in Moscow and then travels 10,000 kilometers Eastbound across Siberia until it ends in Vladivostok. I was lucky enough to catch Trans-Siberian train for a 30-hour leg - from Irkutsk to Novosibirsk - and it was one of the wildest travel experiences of my life. Even in the middle of winter, where temperatures were around -30C, I couldn’t believe how scenic the views were out the window. It felt like a dream!
On the Trans-Siberian train, I met two incredible characters - Gregory (the train conductor) and Sacha (the drunk passenger) who I shared the entire experience with. I will never forget this train ride. It was the journey of a lifetime, and I can’t wait to (hopefully) finish the rest of the adventure someday soon. Siberia is truly a remarkable place. Thank you for watching.

Drew: Do you speak English?
Gregory: Barely
Also Gregory: Has a full conversation with Drew
"barely" is an advanced word. That was the first clue...
A lot of people underestimate their ability but then have a conversation
lets be honest, Gregory was the true star of this episode. I also hope that his government hasn't arrested him since for some reason Drew decided to ask him if he liked Putin and leave his answer in.
smart people always underestimate themselves
It’s called Sarcasm
as someone who took this train ride more than 20 times over the years of studying in Novosibirsk and going home to Krasnoyarsk, I can say there are usually multiple Sashas on every train, sometimes in every car. and Gregory is simply legendary.
Says a lot about russians, sorry, but it truly does.
All Alexander is a shasha 😂
This series is important because it highlights the people of Russia and their warmth and kindness. The government is not the people.

What a great adventure this would be. Gregory was awesome. Definitely superstar material.

I did the trans Siberian from Moscow to Vladivostok in 2018 in one journey for 7 days and it was the best travel experience I've ever had
Yes! I did it in 2012, and I agree :)
Love the train ride, I’ve always wanted to do this. I love every single one of Drew’s videos and stories, they are always so inspiring and the best days are when he uploads, for sure. Can’t wait to see more of this Russia series, because Russia really is a stunning place that is so much more than just Putin and the Kremlin.
You are right. Alas, Russia is so much more than just Putin and the Kremlin. Russia is also citizens who support this war and pretend there are no war crimes or just enjoy those crimes. Russia is also soldiers who didn't reject to invade in another country and to shoot in civilians. Russia is that pilot who droped bomb to theatre in Mariupol where mothers was hiding with their children and where word "children" was written in the backyard. Russia is teachers who explain in schools why war against Ukraine is good. Russia is journalist who continue to spread disgusting propaganda. It's so much more than Putin and the Kremlin indeed.

I was in Ukraine at almost exactly the same time as you were shooting this video in Russia. I'm still in a semi state of shock after recent events. I'm still comprehending how lucky I am to have made it out at all and in one piece; some of my friends and family weren't so fortunate. I love both these countries and the people dearly. I'm struggling for words honestly, but I'm glad you enjoyed Russia as much as I have and that you can see past the agendas of governments and see the majority of people as wonderful individuals like yourself, who don't want any sort of conflict.
Stay safe Drew and everyone, wherever you are. Hope all's well.
Well said FRIEND
I'm from Russia and this vodka guy is hilarious 🤣 classic Russian man in all the stereotypes 🙃
i am halfrussian and indeed, real classic russian vodkaman :D so funny hahahah
Yep. From the beginning calm, friendly, in the middle of conversation he is asking “Are you a man?”, later became aggressive and in the end slept. Typical vodkaman 🤣
That guy’s clearly an alcoholic. It’s sad
He has to wear adidas tracksuit to be a typical Russian vodkaman 😂😂

Crypto currency is the future, investing in it will be the wisest thing to do especially with the current rise.
Stocks are good but crypto is better.
Stock's are crashing, Bitcoin Investment right now will be at every wise individual list in a month you we be ecstatic with the decision you make today.
2021 online stock is just difficult and unbelievable, I'll rather invest my money on crypto.
People are ignorant of the profitability in bitcoin Investment and that had been their major issues limiting their Investment.

I feel like it would be nicer gesture not to take shots with someone who clearly has issues with alcohol. Alcoholism is a problem in Russia in general and me being someone who grew up with an alcoholic parent I am cringing at seeing that train guy drunk.
I agree. Imagine if it was any other drug. The disconnect in the way people almost promote drinking too much and think someone whose drunk is great entertainment do not gel with the reality of life with or as an addict of any chemical. The way the media portrays drinkers and drink and advertises it frequently make life more of a challenge for anyone who is struggling with a substance use disorder. Thankyou for picking up on the problem in your comment. Any substance issue is not fun , not glamorous, only makes life miserable and still the image of the successful , sociable drunk are foisted upon us daily. It is insensitive and can be triggering for anyone trying to remain sober. For those of you fighting the good fight keep it simple and just for today!
Both of you stop watching videos where drinking is involved it’s not hard. The world does not revolve around the few but for the many.
Nah it's normal
This is awesome! You truly live my dream! I hope one day I can find time and money to do all this as well! God bless mate 🙏 🙌

Gregory is an absolute legend! Love Russian people. I had the best trip of my life so far during the World Cup 2018 there. Want to go around that country more, especially to Siberia and the Far East...I took a few long train rides, two days straight in a train from Kazan through Krasnodar to Sochi, and then from Sochi to Saint Petersburg...amazing experience and I would love to do the Trans-Siberian as well. wait so you like to talk about UKRAINE alot but you dont have the audacity to fricking talk about the war in palestine which has been on going for 74+ years come on bro were is the common sense you need to start addressing everything. This ain't selection you have to talk about all the war in the world weather the news address it or not well im just to get a point across and dont take this is a harsh manner but sometimes think of the things which people dont car about to get them to start thinking of the innocent lives being lost around the world not just in one specific spot ( UKRAINE ). Hi Drew, My name is Hanumant Yadav and I want to visit 🇷🇺, 🇨🇭, 🇺🇸, 🇿🇦, 🇯🇵 asap. Can't wait! Cheers
I took the second-class Trans-Siberian train in the summer of 1998 with my friend Mario and we had four people in the cabin, a Russian Navy captain Alexandr and his 13-year old daughter Maria. 9,219 km, 6 1/2 days, and a complete delight. We made friends with the bottles of vodka we brought. We learned a trick, chase vodka with a pickle or a cucumber and it mitigates the harsh vodka taste. We had no showers at all in second class and there was a drought in Vladivostok when we got there. A minder, or a Provodnik, kept an eagle eye on us the whole time, especially a the stops. He made sure we did not stray too far from the train. We did manage to sponge bathe at each of the stops.
You also smell the dark bread and eat it to make the experience even better. And overall one has to drink strong booze with something to eat, unless you want to get wasted and destroy your liver further
i laughed hard when the guy appeared while you were brushing. A+ sound effects

By the way, I have a recommendation for you, once this war is over and it’s safe to travel to Ukraine again, you should spend like a week in western Ukraine, there there’s a lot of really nice places and a very European vibe. I would especially suggest the Carpathian, city named Lviv and city named Ivano Frankivsk. There are also many beautiful old castles around the place. Just a idea though.
