- In Israel, a small but determined movement has emerged in the aftermath of the October 7th terror attacks calling for the return of Jewish settlements to Gaza. Some cite security, others ideology. Their demands have been echoed by two far-right ministers in Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir who said there should be a return to Gush Katif - the largest block of settlements Israel maintained in Gaza until Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s unilaterally pulled out of the strip in 2005. The ministers’ statements have drawn international condemnation and Netanyahu has called the idea “unrealistic”, but his government has not yet laid out an official plan for Gaza after the war.

Ratio of civilians to military personnel killed on the 7th was 1 . 4 : 1 - lower than any of the iTf "mowing" operations, which has a ratio of 7 : 1
According to UN OCHA data from 2008 to 2022; The collateral damage on the 7th was significantly lower than any of the ITf "mowing" operations, which had a ratio of 7:1 with 1,023 military personnel out of 6,541 total. On the 7th, with 473 military (418 were iTf military personnel, 55 belonged to the police) out of 1148 total, the ratio of civilians to military personnel was a mere 1.4:1
When including all casualties, not just deaths, the collateral damage ratio of the "mowing" operations is a staggering 162:1
From the 161,233 accumulated civilian casualties over only 14 years of "mowing" operations.
A 162 :1 ratio means that for every 162 civillians, 1 military personnel is a casualty. The 7th had a ratio of 1.4:1, more than a hundred times lower.
The 473 are - 55 soldiers, 13 privates, 59 corporals, 200 sergeants (45 of whom were sergeant majors), 48 commanders, 32 lieutenants, 5 lieutenant colonels, 6 colonels, 37 officers, 10 inspectors, 6 intendents, and 2 Lance Corp. This was a military defeat, and they are taking it out on the rest.
The reported ages of the victims are as follows:
0-4: 2 civilians
5-12: 8 civilians
13-17: 14 civilians
18-25: 132 civilians
26-40: 119 civilians
41-60: 55 civilians
61+: 40 civilians

First Israel must be willing to discuss the two State Solution with the international community. The rest there should be a mechanism with the international community to put peace keeping, force in the new Palestinian State with its independent borders. That would be negotiated with Arabs countries that recognizes Israel and others friendly countries to The Palestinians cause.

International law is meaningless if they can't enforce it on certain countries
It's been like that always.
The first step would be to stop funding Israel. Israel has run trade deficits almost every year since at least the late 1960s and could not sustain its current standard of living without an influx of cash from overseas.
Cut off Israel’s welfare payments would be effective enforcement. Technically, we are not supposed to provide aid to them or trade with them because they have nuclear weapons but have not signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. It get’s a congressional waiver each year (Thanks AIPAC!)
Why are there no settlements from Palestinians allowed in Israel? The situation seems absurd. It's like the Spanish moving to Portugal and then claiming that Portugal is now Spain because there are a lot of Spanish people living there.

A woman really swallowed 5 diamonds each day and retrieved them from the latrine for a year and never got sick or suffered internal injuries? She also claimed she was subjected to Dr. Mengele’s experiments. Didn’t he ever wonder why she was always sick or injured? Another woman claimed she was sent to the gas chamber but it ran out of gas and only knew it was a gas chamber because somebody later told her it was? These are not exceptional cases.

Tbh, it’s a good report…but it’s sadly not exactly a true neutral report as it doesn’t actually interview any Palestinians regarding the matter. They also don’t tell us about the vibrant community + culture of Gaza btwn 2006- Oct 2023 developed outside of the Hamas narrative. It’s literally completely skipped and so the viewer doesn’t actually have any connection with the Gazan people.
I mean it’s DW, a German broadcast so it’s a good start I guess.

I always believed that governments were not a reflection of its people. That is to say a government can be currupt and evil but the people of the country just human, loving, kind...
