I think it's part of the technology package or something. Anyway, thanks for pointing this out. I should have clarified that it is an available option, if you want to pay extra for it. I'll try and include that if I get another chance to drive a 2019 Camry.
bluedream503 If you get the LE it does look more luxurious, mines the SE and I just love the front design on it and the back lights make it look beautiful.
Had one of these as a rental from Enterprise myself, and the first thing I noticed when moving was how solidly built it felt. Nice overall quality and was a nice experience driving it. I would highly recommend one.

Great review & great car-- I actually almost purchased an SE with the upgrade package that gives you blind spot monitor, push button start, homelink & other goodies. It is my understanding that Camry's built after October 2018 have CarPlay.
Thanks! And someone else said CarPlay is preloaded, but you have to connect your phone via USB to activate it. Not sure if that's true...but it's kinda neat if it is. Hopefully I'll get another SE soon and I can try it out.
Great idea to review your rental cars! Subscribed. We just bought a 2019 Camry SE and agree with your observations. Toyota hit a home run with the 2018-19 Camry. Our SE is white but otherwise configured like this one, with black interior and no other options, just all-weather mats and mudguards. So we don't have push button start or blind spot monitoring/rear cross traffic alert. I would have paid the $600 for BSM/RCTA but in the NW USA they roll it in with push button start and a moon roof for $2100. I don't think you can get it separate. I notice most reviews of mid-sized cars have the Honda Accord edging out the Camry for best in class but it's interesting they never tell you Honda is getting sued over an oil dilution/contamination problem in their 1.5 liter turbo engine! It's due to Honda's direct gas injection. Toyota anticipated this problem years ago and that's what their term Dynamic Force Engine is all about - instead of only direct fuel injection the Toyota engines have direct injection plus the old port injection. Costs more to make but your valves don't gunk up with deposits and your oil doesn't get contaminated with gas. Honda's turbocharger may be part of the problem, too - we'll have to see how this story plays out over the years. Also, at this price trim Toyota uses their high-end direct shift 8-speed transmission while Honda uses a lower quality CVT transmission, not their excellent direct shift 10-speed transmission found in higher trim levels. Anyway, the Accord is a great car and would be a great rental for you if you haven't done it yet but anyone wanting to keep a new car for 5 years or more should be thinking Toyota.
Great additions to an already thorough review. Really enjoy when "real owners" chime in. In my opinion, if one wants to own a vehicle for sometime, then I believe the Camry is the choice. Should someone wants more bells and whistles, driving experience and short term ownership, then get the Accord. Their turbocharged engines and tannys are giving Honda trouble (per Scotty Kilmer).

I bought a 2019 Camry se about 3 days ago and what I dont like so far is there is no light near the pull down shade/mirror so if you're looking at yourself in the mirror you have to turn on your roof lights, the lights on the roof also have no switch so you cant set it so that they turn on when the doors are open. So whenever you open the doors at night the car just stays dark which I dont like, also I was hoping it would tell me north east south or west somewhere on the car but it does not, and no blind spot monitoring unless you pay tons extra which it shouldnt cost extra in a 2019 car cmon. I do love the faux leather seats with striped cloth in the center and the front grill though, the S shape in the dashboard, and the C A M R Y letters on the back. Also the fact that I know it will be a reliable car so I am still very happy with it

I haven't driven a Camry (let alone any midsize sedan), but working at a Chevy dealership, I'll probably have a chance to drive many Malibus. I like the Camry, the turning point for it was, in my opinion, 2002, when you started to see more of them on the road, and it began its reign of top-selling car in the U.S. that year. 200+ base HP is a lot for a midsize sedan considering you don't have to pay extra for the 30 or so extra horsepower in the Camry as opposed to its competitors, and 301 HP is second to the Ford Fusion for most HP in a midsize sedan. Now, if only Toyota would offer AWD to compete with the Ford Fusion (which JUST got extended for AT LEAST another year into 2020), and the all-new Nissan Altima. :)

No, you only feel it if you're making really gentle turns. It's only then that the assist technology gives you a little resistance. If you make an actual turn (moving the steering week 10 degrees or more) you don't get any feedback/resistance.
@@100RentalCars Thanks. All this driver assistance stuff worries me. I don't like cars having minds of there own. Maybe it's good but it's a lot of technology really fast. Makes me uneasy.

It's been a while since I drove this one, but I think Apple Carplay comes standard. I think I missed it, because it doesn't appear on the center display. You have to plug in an iPhone (which I don't have) for it to appear.
plastic underneath car is extremely flimsy already had to remove a panel under pass side door floorboard due to winter roads....very poor design in that area.
What the hell is "MSRP"? Just say the price! You're may have an eight speed CVT, but that's not what all of them come with. In Australia, they only come with the (far better) six speed automatic gear box. (CVT has problems) The radar feature is an optional extra, so is the side vehicle detection.
Apple CarPlay comes standard. Need to activate it under Menu>Setup and it has to be tethered with Apple cord to use. 👍🏻 Sincerely, Your friendly neighborhood Toyota Salesman
I have a love-hate relationship with the manual parking brakes. I agree that they feel old fashioned, but at the same time, I do like having a brake on the vehicle that doesn't rely on the battery having power.
Any chance you know where you rented this from? I have a 2019 black camry se that was a rental car until a bought it in August and the scratches on this one match some of the scratches on mine, so I'm thinking this might actually be my car! Haha
Really? Could be, I rented this in the Chicago Suburbs so it's VERY possible its the same vehicle. Did you buy it at Enterprise's auto sales center near Fox Valley Mall?
please dont shift this manually its so stupid paddle shifters i got the LE just cause those things look dumb i do regret not getting leather seats . Also I got Le because it has more tire less rim which is better long term less stress on front end because the bigger the rim skinnier the tire the more stress on front end parts etc
Yes, FP means it's a fleet vehicle. I looked it up on the Secretary of State's Office a few weeks ago. It's worth a look if you've got a second, there are TONS of different plates now. Like dozens.
I really like the new Camry. Not sure if I’d go for an LE or, se. I would like the v6 but I really don’t like the led lights on the xse and xle, so I’d stay with a 4 cylinder. If only enterprise had accords, that would be a good comparison
6 16CivicMT SE’s look like shit. My XSE 2 Toned looks way better. Better Lights, Better Interior, Better Taillights, and bigger Rims. Dont forget the Panoramic Sunroof. If it was ugly i wouldnt be catching people taking pictures of it
To each their own. Not once did I say it was ugly, I just prefer the SE. When I first got my 16 civic people would ask me about it all the time and take pictures of it. It’s because it’s a new model, and my civic is an LX.
100 Rental Cars not many people drive crossovers in my area. Sedans are king where I live i personally don’t agree with gm nor fords decisions. Old people drive impalas Cadillacs and Buicks and this car is quite popular with the elderly population in my area

I had a 2019 Camry SE rental for a 3 days. I dont like the black interior it is dull, hard plastic interior. It has a decent acceleration, but the transmission is weird, not smooth from time to time, and somewhat delay from stop. City and highway mileages are good. Wind noise is loud on highway, I can hear wind from the rear windows, road noise is ok. Overall, I'm not impress as many auto reviewers recommended the Camry, may be the top trim.
I’m trying to decide between buying the 2018 or 2019 SE. I haven’t come across there being any major differences between the two, which would you recommend?
I would go with the 2018. You'll be able to get it for a much cheaper price and there's nothing on the 2019 model that I think is worth paying more for. But regardless of your decision, I think you're gonna love it. This is one of my favorites.
Yeah the 2018 had engine problems.... I got the 2019 only thing I dislike is the cvt transmission along with it having 8 gears... the car changes gears too much. But I do recommend getting the 2020 that should be the last year of that model. Along with that they should have most of the problems solved. I had a 2001 Camry the orignal transmission just went out.
@@user-oq3lv6lv7x you sure about that?I just got my 2019 Camry last June 19. Less than a week , I'm having that hesitation problem. I took it to the dealer to get check out and they couldn't find the problem. I still have the same problem today and I will take it to the dealer when I have time.
Javier Davis without a doubt go for the Camry man . Chevy has never had the best reliability but in recent years with every manufacturer going down due to knew technology Chevy is complete and utter shit now
I kinda agree. It's fun to play with on my rentals, but I'm not sure I'd use it everyday. It is, however, fun to activate lane departure and adaptive cruise, and then watch the car (kind of) drive itself.

Hey don't know if youll see this but, Ive seen in other 2019 Se reviews that the cars do come with carplay and android auto. Why didnt this one come with it? Purchasing one soon and just want to make sure I get those features.
It's been a while since I drove this one, but I think Apple Carplay comes standard. I think I missed it, because it doesn't appear on the center display. You have to plug in an iPhone (which I don't have) for it to appear.
A LOW TRUNK SPOILER IN THE BACK WOULD MAKE IT LOOK COOLER AND BETTER
Amen!
Great review!
Great comment!
plastic underneath car is extremely flimsy already had to remove a panel under pass side door floorboard due to winter roads....very poor design in that area.
My car has apple car play and 2 USB ports in the back seat
Nice! I wonder why it's different. Did you get an upgrade / tech package?
What the hell is "MSRP"? Just say the price!
You're may have an eight speed CVT, but that's not what all of them come with. In Australia, they only come with the (far better) six speed automatic gear box. (CVT has problems)
The radar feature is an optional extra, so is the side vehicle detection.
Which one you recommended Toyota Camry or Nissan Altima ?
Camry. Don't trust Nissan's CVT transmission. They had a class action lawsuit over their CVTs. Camry's use a conventional automatic transmission.
I really love the Toyota Camrys.
Me too.
I miss the 1.99/gallon days…
Apple CarPlay comes standard. Need to activate it under Menu>Setup and it has to be tethered with Apple cord to use. 👍🏻
Sincerely,
Your friendly neighborhood Toyota Salesman
Does Android Auto go along with it ? I hope there is.
Such a beautiful car
I like how they lowered the beltline for this generation Camry.
5:28 really??? it's 2019, why it still there???
Becasue it wont fail like an electronic parking brake button
I have a love-hate relationship with the manual parking brakes. I agree that they feel old fashioned, but at the same time, I do like having a brake on the vehicle that doesn't rely on the battery having power.
Because it's a base model
Any chance you know where you rented this from? I have a 2019 black camry se that was a rental car until a bought it in August and the scratches on this one match some of the scratches on mine, so I'm thinking this might actually be my car! Haha
I'm in Chicago suburbs btw
Really? Could be, I rented this in the Chicago Suburbs so it's VERY possible its the same vehicle. Did you buy it at Enterprise's auto sales center near Fox Valley Mall?
100 Rental Cars No :( I bought it in the Toyota of Naperville
What’s the highest range of miles someone gets with a full tank of gas?
Any idea how to get the map working?
Love the new camrys SE and up, but damn, i think my 19 Ram interior has me spoiled because the gauge cluster on the camry seems lacking for me.
please dont shift this manually its so stupid paddle shifters i got the LE just cause those things look dumb i do regret not getting leather seats . Also I got Le because it has more tire less rim which is better long term less stress on front end because the bigger the rim skinnier the tire the more stress on front end parts etc
brs rafi Thanks for comments!!! Especially the info on tire size!!!
Your wrong, Apple car play is standard on 2019
Was probably turned off by default. I currently had a rental and I had to find the setting to turn it on
I have an identical rental today! Great car! Any idea what the Illinois FP plates mean?
Yes, FP means it's a fleet vehicle. I looked it up on the Secretary of State's Office a few weeks ago. It's worth a look if you've got a second, there are TONS of different plates now. Like dozens.
100 Rental Cars thanks, I heard Illinois had the most different kinds of license plates
Nice car, I have an 07 Camry CE with a 5 speed. Don't drive much anymore but if I did, that car would be nice to have around, lol.
I love my 2019 camry se but Mines has push button...
6 16CivicMT civics are trash no matter what trim 😂
C G Don’t feel special because you drive a Camry
6 16CivicMT i feel more special because i also own a lifted TRD SPORT TACOMA 4x4 inferno color with technology package.
I dont know if get a Camry or a Lexus is 2016 or 2017...
I love my new xse!!👍👍❤️💕
My local Toyota dealership can’t keep these on their lots
I can see why.
100 Rental Cars not many people drive crossovers in my area. Sedans are king where I live i personally don’t agree with gm nor fords decisions. Old people drive impalas Cadillacs and Buicks and this car is quite popular with the elderly population in my area
Should I get this car or the 2020 Mazda 3 ?
I've never driven the 3, so, sorry, but I'm not much help. But....I do love this car. So the Mazda 3 would have to be ah-mazing to beat it
@@100RentalCars For sure, thank you though !
Dont get the 3 mine sucks been hella unreliable
1:10 mannn those prices seem ancient
*I’d definitely prefer the v6 but that i4 isn’t a slouch. I do wish they offered a 6speed but beggars can’t be choosers.*
FYI:Love You Doing These Rental Car Videos. This Is A Used Vehicle I'm Considering, Simply Beautiful Ugly Design Sorta. Somebody Please Explain To Me How Paddle Shifts Work, Still A Little Lost With The Stick. I Am Watching Another 3 Times.
Feel the same way. Drove an Accord yesterday and the way the reviewers rave about it I was extremely disappointed in the vehicle.
How does this compare to the 2018 altima sl?
Pretty similar, but I thought the Camry was more fun to drive.
Heard that Camry has bluetooth issues...
Next time try to hookup your phone and see if it works right...🤠
billy fatbowe works fine for me
Can you turn off lane assist?
I’m trying to decide between buying the 2018 or 2019 SE. I haven’t come across there being any major differences between the two, which would you recommend?
If you can wait till Sept/Oct the 2020 model will be out. The 2019 is good they're offering 1.9% apr or $1000 cash back if you pay in full.
I would go with the 2018. You'll be able to get it for a much cheaper price and there's nothing on the 2019 model that I think is worth paying more for. But regardless of your decision, I think you're gonna love it. This is one of my favorites.
2018s have a lot of problems. I'd say 2019 or newer
@@jarmelingram1832 only the hybrids have CVTs. But I do agree that 8 speed is a disaster
That transmission hesitate when you're trying to accelerate.
Sam L there’s a software update.
What should I pay for a new one
$1.99 a gallon..
It kalifornia it hasn't been
That price since 1989.🤬
Payrate is also higher in California
I lived in Sacramento in 89 and regular gas was +/- $1.00.
i think the honda accord is a better value in every way except the camry exterior looks better
Too bad the 1.5L has tons of issues, and Honda's GDI issues are pretty well known.
Drove a cvt 1.5 sport with 3k thing was rattling already
@@tonychau1983 😲😲😲
Damn, 1.99 a gallon, that's so cheap...newyork is looting us on every single thing, wtf.
Gas here in Los Angeles is almost $5.
@@V8orNoCar 🤣🤣🤣 forcing you guys to go electric
How much is this Camry
Wait this car doesn’t have push to start
Candido Salinas nope
That's great news
I'm trying to decide between this and the mid level 2019 Chevy Malibu. Which one did you like more and which would you suggest
Javier Davis without a doubt go for the Camry man . Chevy has never had the best reliability but in recent years with every manufacturer going down due to knew technology Chevy is complete and utter shit now
@@jadenbertrand7114 Good point. I've been doing a little more research on the Cam and now the new 2021 Kia Optima has snuck in lol
That so called lane departure assist is really annoying. I'm not a fan.
I kinda agree. It's fun to play with on my rentals, but I'm not sure I'd use it everyday. It is, however, fun to activate lane departure and adaptive cruise, and then watch the car (kind of) drive itself.
You can leave it off if you prefer.
okay so where was the test drive
If this is a 2019 it does have Apple car play. That is standard on all 2019 Camrys.
Yep, I recently learned that Apple Car Play doesn't appear on the App screen, it only activates AFTER you plug your phone in via a USB connection. Sorry I missed this in the review, I do my best to add it next time. Cheers!
0-60?
I have it, its sexy
Agreed.
Jazmin Games No Toyota is sexy
Any issues with the car? I'm interested in buying one soon.
It does have apple car play m8
