Ever since I first saw Blk Lbl at SHOT Show many years ago I've really liked their handguard-integrated bipods. They are completely slick and unobtrusive when folded up, but offer a good range of motion, stability, and adjustability when deployed, while being lighter than all but the lightest polymer detachable bipods when combined with a handguard.
In addition to making these units for the AR15, AR10, Tavor 7, Tavor X95, Tikka, and MDR platforms, they also offer them for the Q Fix (and also SIG Cross). I'm very happy to have one on my Fix!

Wasn't Ian's old hunting rifle a Steyr Scout?
@@jic1 It was, he even mentioned that under other comment.
QFix: 3000 dollars
Burris Eliminator: 2500 dollars
Blk Lbl Handguard: 549 dollars
Porq Chop: 900 dollars
Ammo: 50 dollars for 20 rounds
SR25 Mags: 20 dollars each
Total: 7039 dollars
Being at the bleeding edge of firearms? Priceless.
Poors would be hating hard. 🤣
@@armstrong2052 I would say 90% of people do not have enough disposable income for a 7000 dollar setup. So not just 'poors'. Also, not hating, just stating.
While I do believe that is a lot of money for a setup, at the same time I think spending a lot of money on one gun you use often makes a lot more sense than buying a bunch of cheap safe queens for the same amount.
There are too many people who think owning lots of guns they never shoot makes them proficient with firearms, and that couldn't be further from the Truth, it just makes you a loot piñata and your home a giant loot crate..
Train, and train some more.
Ammo $50 20 rounds 😂 338 start at like $75 an box of crap
@Jezus42 I was looking at bullets yesterday 2 dollars a piece. That's fkn spendy! 100 dollars for 50 bullets to reload. That's rough.🤑
Basement of shot show is where the real innovation is 🧠
Ya know... I've been watching since the early days, the intro music, when it looked like things were filmed in 480p - and never really commented much. But I'm compelled to say, a funny as it sounds, that i'm real proud of what you've achieved on youtube and beyond. You were the little guy I could see parts of myself in back then and always hoped you'd do well. And now you're building a fantastic collection, authoring and publishing books, and get to own genuinely beautiful rifles like the Fix.
Good on ya dude - keep on educating about and dorking out on firearms, and focussing on the factual over than the political. It's taken you far, and long may that trajectory continue.
Thanks for all the interesting vids!
That comment was a pleasure to read, I too have been around since the drumbeat intro 😂 you said everything better than I could though and I wholeheartedly agree.
I came here to learn more about firearms I have used in video games and then went on to watch videos with guns that I would like to see in video games xD It's been many years now and I still do not own a firearm license or a gun. The funny thing is that I haven't played any shooter game in a long time but I still come here and watch Ian's videos.
I wasn't looking when you fired the first round and legit thought it was a light strike. That is a hell of a supressor
Same here
It looks clean, but that scope with the ranging laser steals the show.
Scopes with build in rangefinder arent that new in market.
Old ones just had numberic value to tell how far but everything else was up to you.
New ones varies a bit but usually they have either multiple reticles which light on what you should use
as center of target aiming or totally digital which draws whole reticle to match ballistics you
have inserted to them.
Overally quite lot of variety depending how old and price level.
Man, that thing really is movie-quiet. Apart from the sharp metallic ding when firing, there is really nothing there.
reinventing the galil handguard, except this time ya lose the bottle opener and the wire cutter
Two things. First, I have a Blk Lbl bipod handguard on my Tavor X95, and it really improves the rifle. On that platform, it has a contact point at the front on the top pic rail and is quite stable. Second, I finished my homemade version of the Fix. It's a light weight 700 clone with the Faxon 8.6 12" and a Pork Sword chassis. It comes in a 5 lb. 10 oz without scope, bipod, suppressor, so just 4 oz heavier than the 12" Fix. This also has a flat bottom handguard and a built in ARCA rail, so I can use the same accessories I'm use to on my other precision rigs (bipod, bag, etc.).
How bad is it that I read that as a Black Lebel bipod?
Damnit, Ian. Your obsession with French small-arms is catching...
Oh non! C'est contagieux !
Hahaha
I have to say that as a French Canadian, its very strange to see someone so fundamentally American talking about guns, which are so fundamental to American culture, and have such an obsession with French *anything*. Its not exactly my experience when dealing with Americans in general. Its rather idiosyncratic of him!
I read it as Black Label - which is a cheap-ish lager here in the UK.
@@timbirch4999 I'll bet he drinks Carling Black Label....
Gotta admit it, that's a right clever idea for integrating a bipod system.
...wonder if they have one for AR-10 platforms.
Yes, they do.

Best handguard of all time
I’ve got one on my MDRX. It’s fantastic. It absolutely holds zero on the MDRX & the new WLVRN. Probably because it mounts more securely to DT’s receiver than it does on the Fix.
a great very interesting video and rifle Mr.GJ.have a good one Mr.
Thank you Ian!
Been super curious about these ever since you first showcased them years ago. A really awesome, innovative idea. Shame they're just so astronomically expensive.
And when Steyr did the same thing with Scout everyone said that was stupid idea.
I really like the Scout. Before I had a Fix, that was my hunting rifle.
I don't remember anyone saying it was stupid, it was just not as good as a Harris.
@Lichemaster I want to say that some of the G3's or FAL's also had an option for integrated bipods way back when, so it's certainly not a new idea. But it seems like this is the best version of the concept to date.
That looks tight, although thanks to CSS I have alwaysbeen a styre Scout fanboy. This setup probably costs a small fortune knowing Q. I have wanted to make a scout setup for hunting in the UK using a Q Fix, this just sealed it i think. Now to find the money, i think my house might just about cover the collateral against it

As a Canadian I went with the Sig Cross due to using bolt action AICS mags and as such we have no capacity limits. This is sleek and compact, I'm not enjoying the cheap bipod I tossed on it's bulky. This fits my love of the built in bipod concept from the classic scout rifle. I'm so glad to see them have this for the Cross. Also made in Canada, ordering now!
Cross is my next purchase
Remember the good old days when we Canadians were allowed to own semi autos. Those were the days. Now we're happy we just get unlimited mag capacity on rifle caliber mags.
When did we become such boot lickers.

Truly the modern incarnation of the Steyr Scout.
Wow, that rifle with the silencer is amazingly quiet, all you hear is a little ping from action. Didn't know modern silencers (with the right subsonic ammo) could be _this_ quiet.
I think it looks/works fine👌
The Fix already looked tactical (in a "compact medium range with cool stock rifle" way), this handguard made it more so
You could say the bipod is an easy Fix
Also, this supressed rifle, sounds like most supressed weapons in old games 😅
Microphone in camera just cant record gunshots right and typical speakers at home
wont be able to repeat that either.
8.6blk and 300blk supressed are quiet in rifle standards but still not exacly something you should
shoot as daily basis whitout protection. Even 22lr sub trough a supressor is around 110 decibels at a muzzle.
Rifle calibers will create much more pressurised gas to escape from a supressor
so those just simply cant be more quiet.

"Oops. Did it not fire?"

"...oh, no, it definitely fired. Just really quiet."
It’s miles out of my price range, but damn she’s slick.
Ian, you still running electrical tape behind the mag to keep it pushed out, or did you find a better solution?

I literally thought that said BBL Drizzy and about LOST MY MIND
I just learned about that from Lessons in Meme Culture!
I'm hoping to try a couple of them on my x95's. Not so sold on the bipod, though.
I don’t know if BLK LBL makes hand guards for the Tavor, but for other rifles they make hand guards both with & w/out the integrated bipod. Hand guard without bipod is less than half the price of hand guard with bipod.
@methodsocratic they do make it. With both options as well. I'm probably going with one of each. I think I will try the bipod on my 300 blk x95 because I actually hunt with it sometimes. But I don't think they're a tough or fully adjustable bipod. I'd like to see destructive testing done on it.
@@armstrong2052 I think trying it out would convince you, & I’m quite certain there’s a bunch of videos on YT reviewing the hand guard with bipod that go much further in depth than our much-respected gun Jesus does here. I can only speak from my experience & background since I’m not an engineer, but I rarely recommend any product, & personally I think both the hand guard & bipod are top tier. I’m not certain what you mean by “fully adjustable,” but the bipod legs both extend & (obviously) retract with a ton of locked stops until they’re fully extended, & the hand guard also rotates along the axis of the barrel while using the bipod, & it has an integrated ring for controlling the tension of that rotation. You can lock it out so there’s no rotation at all or loosen all the way for free rotation, & of course adjust that tension for everything in between.
Rarely have I come across a product that does everything it sets out to do so well. Also, kind of important depending on how you hold your rifle with your support hand, the hand guard with included bipod isn’t so fat that you can’t still use a c-clamp style grip with your support hand. But yah dude. Go watch some videos, go try it out. It is expensive as hell (for the bipod included model), but it’s one of those rare products that I think is 100% worth it.
@methodsocratic I'm a snob with bipods, I have good Atlas and MDT pods. The minimum quality pod I use is a magpul. I've had cheap cheap Amazon ones. So I've seen the spectrum of them. I just want lateral, circular, and cant for adjusting. I don't expect the feet to be replaceable due to the size constraints. I'll just have to give it a go, I guess.
I love my blklbl.
3:54 It's such a simple joke but I chuckled
Colorado doesn’t have any restrictions on SBRs that go beyond federal law, except a thing about how NFA stuff is illegal with possession of a “permit or license” to own it, and your $200 ATF extortion stamp legally qualifies as the correct “permit or license” under the law. ATF approves form 1s and form 4s without any issue, and you’re fine taking an SBR anywhere in the state, except for Denver and a couple of bits of public land owned by Denver.
This thing on G3 would be a faux Cetme Model A
Wouldn't be able to use that scope for hunting in Oregon. Can't have the rangefinder built in.
Is that a law? That's one hell of a stupid law if so
@lardomcfarty9866 From the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife regarding centerfire rifles. It is unlawful to use: Infrared, night vision, laser or any other sight that projects a beam to the target, including scopes with electronic rangefinders and scopes that receive information from any electronic device.
With regards to muzzle loaders: No scopes period and no sights that use batteries without a special permit for those with vision impairment.
Living in blue states these days is a waste of time and money, putting up with people who hate your freedoms and your gun's is pointless also, MOVE, I fled Illinois for many reasons mostly gun rights, best decision I ever made. Life is to short, gun's need to be bought without restrictions or limits, if gun freedoms are important to you move, trust me you will be much happier.

Is the scope bridged? It looks like the front mount is forward of the mounting point of the handguard, but I cant tell if the rail is actually part of the handguard or if the guard is just slipped over the receiver.
The top rail is a single piece that attaches to both the receiver and the handguard.

Pro Marketing Tip: don't decide your company named based solely on text chats. Say it out loud at least once, no matter how much of a socially-awkward enginerd you are, to someone else.
Who would place a light on a bolt action to begin with? Less is more on a bolt action, in order to reduce impact shift.
If I won the lottery, this would be one of the first guns I buy.
Note. Lasers that hold zero are rare.
Hey Ian, are there mlok slots on the bottom of the handguard?
Yes - one in front of the bipod and three behind it.
It's clean I will give you that but if the handguard is flexing from the stress and movement of the bipod I see that as a durability issue. If it breaks I am looking at a new hand guard instead of just detaching a broken bipod from my pic rail and putting on a new one. I just don't see this being all that great outside of a very niche "I must have a ultra clean, no snag rifle setup with a bipod.".
I can’t speak for the Fix, but that isn’t an issue with that hand guard on my MDRX. No flex, & the bipod itself is crazy strong, it’s all carbon fiber.
Those saguaros are looking thick.
The handguard is a novel idea, though quite pricey. It is worth developing further. I'm sure subsequent generations will improve the design and lower the cost. The 8.6BLK is what it is, not quite as useless as the 300BLK. After my last customer service/ warranty issue with Burris, I will never touch anything with Burris written on it again. The setup overall does make for a good pig population control device. If you don't mind spending that kind of $$$ to be the cool guy at the hunting lodge.

Holy bovine, in video that rifle sounds like a pellet gun, it's so quiet.

How is this not the .338 Federal?
It looks very lightweight
What can is that?
Yeah! After checking the price of the handguard my Harris bipod and or sandbags will dtill continue to dee service. All this high price equivalent is nice but it won't outshoot a thousand dollar rifle with s 500 to a thousand dollar scope.
Man it's cool and has a nice feature but man it's expensive.
You know when you compare the price to a high end hand guard and high quality bipod. The price is very close and generally it will be slightly lighter
If someone makes a stock that can store magazines this setup will reach peak scout. Sacrifice the folding if yu have to for the extra flair
Better, the Fix can just use a standard Magpul 20- or 25-rounder, or a D50 if you want to be really nuts.
@ForgottenWeapons that is cool and all, but I feel like that is still not as "scout", doesn't feel as right.
Also, love ya man!

Cute varmint getter, Ian. I just don't like the placement of the bolt.
Ian, could you check your video footage right at the 30 second mark... looks and sounds like you had a round go between you and the camera. The most concerning is the object moving left screen to right screen and the sonic signature on your mic.
It's an insect. Play it frame by frame you can see it clearly.
If you step over that region of the video frame-by-frame (Use your "," and "." keys on a computer for frame-level reverse and forward, respectively, and use the right-click-on-video menu to bring up the "Stats for nerds" display (not kidding). The "t" value in the "Mystery Text" section is the frame's time with 100ths of a second included.), you can see that the object travels right to left. It enters, right, at about 30.95 and makes its last appearance, left, at 31.05. That means it's taking 0.1 seconds to travel a distance that's, at most, in the low tens-of-feet range, so, whatever it was, it wasn't going very fast, but yeah, there's definitely something flying through. Note - it appears UA-cam has some drift on their timestamp-related math (greeeeat quality), so the 100ths of a second value may be somewhat off from what you see, but they should be close, and total travel time should be the same.

It bothers me a little that q kind of shit on this very cool little product for a reason like that. It's a bolt action. Why would you be aiming with a laser?
Because they make their products for larping snipers/ninja assassins. I guess they hate the idea that they accidentally made a cute little scout/hunting rifle. Or they are actually retards who hunt with lasers...
