Can we safely jack up our 130 year old floor joists?

    I'm am going to be doing literally the same project on a house I just bought. Need to level the house then redo the roof.
    Thanks for sharing your endeavors on this. I hadn't considered adding a new cross beam but I'll certainly will look at that option.

    Joist straps from the old to your new one. They cost cents and will stop the new joist walking around over the next few decades from the dozens of things that cause a house to vibrate.

    The bones of my home look so similar to yours. I’m in central NC. Home was allegedly built in 1901 but that’s what tax records show for nearly all the older homes in my town. Where are you located? Good job installing the beam.

    bad idea to put pea gravel under concrete with such a thin pad, better off just pouring al concrete. Pea gravel can shift, especially when not compacted

    your non-treated shims will eventually rot and it will sink. Get some galvanized metal shims, or just get adjustable posts instead of cinder block stacks with shims.
