Who is watching this again after 10 years???
This is not just a band. This is a movement; and a brotherhood.
ocbfdog for real Bruh
I feel the same way.
Never take this video down. i watch it all the time
Best band of our time
I agree. Years later.
That intro...man! Just when I think I've heard my favorite version of Skate U....
Pound for pound the baddest band in the land. Gonna see the fellas in L.A. in August.
10.59 min : "I wanna be able to play like that!" It's good to hear people setting their goals high, hope that guy gets practicing and forms his own crazy band too!
the intro groove can just play on repeat for life. too good
Watching these guys improvise and comp is like watching a painter paint
Cory is from another planet.......incredible....
Thank God for these young musicians for today's music is in very sad shape. Com-on young people support real music and discard all the pop,rap crap etc..May this be a stepping stone for there are MANY MANY great fusion jazz bands still around.
Rap Crap?
Little did you know Sput their drummer played for Snoop-Dogg for years....
LOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Each genre has their strong artists....
What kills music is Major labels forcing the public what to listen to.
I have found that when an artist really starts to develop it takes more than pop, rap etc.. to challenge his or her ability as a musician or listener. 4/4 time, 3 or 4 basic chords and the pentatonic scale gets pretty old very quick for a seasoned musician.
Lo you still don't understand hahaha.
Most musicians who get hired to play "simpler" forms of music still has it's complexity in fact this band is HUGELY influenced by J Dilla's groove of playing behind the time/or giving a unquantized feel. also most bands that back Pop,hip-hop,etc. Acts get to re-arrange the music but I'm sure you wouldn't know that.
Also this version of "Skate U" is hugely influenced by Washington DC's GoGo music scene but I since you don't listen to hip hop or R&B you wouldn't know that lol.
I hear hip-hop, rap, pop etc...all over the place not by choice for it's hard to escape from. Snarky Puppy is a good place to start for new listeners to get introduced to fusion type jazz. Cats like Chick Corea, Al Dimeola, Jean luc ponty get my fullest respect. I am a 55 year old dude that has been playing and teaching jazz since 1974 so I am more than just a casual listener. Peace, for we all like different things.
I understand and know about all the artists you mentioned in fact I had the honor to meet Chick Corea after a RTF concert attend various events of other jazz fusion artists as well and I'm only 23z
all I'm saying is you shouldn't be dismissing any genre of music If mainstream labels are exploiting them.
Heck Snarky Puppy became well known in the Gospel Circuit in Texas before they got known in Jazz/Fusion and they do a lot of music for major gospel acts hence why they have built such a huge following in less than 10 years.
Astonishing collection of peerless musicians.......nothing close out there right now..... stunning
What is with Snarky Puppy and Dallas? Man they seem to always spot on ever since that stellar 2013 show with Caleb....
i think a lot of the band members are originally from Texas actually, thats probably why they play there a lot
Ziggyi Yes, exactly - two different schools down there came together
yeah most of them went to North Texas Uni. The music program there is insane
Denton, Texas to be exact I believe.
I absolutely love that horn riff the trumpets throw in during the sax solo.
This percussionist does the most that I have heard to compliment the drummer. They sound like extensions of one another. This recording is great overall.
I live for the groove at the start of this!
those first 47sec...my word!
These dudes are insane man!!...UNBELIEVABLE
The best version of Stake U EVER!!!!
these guys are fucking amazing, always makes me feel full of happiness, i love you SP
Best band I've hear in a while! I love the interaction and how they help making everything streamlined in an exceptional groovy way!
This is real music not computer or robotics real musicians playing real instruments playing real music amazing musician's
Literally makes me smile.
OMG that guitar riff at 17:30. Mark Lettieri is a god.
check this clip, the vibe on stage, the groove, the solo's the fun! music 9.0!
Amazing I love it, all from the heart your blessed.
Most of the band members went to the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Shaun Martin (keys) and Sput on drums are from Dallas.
Thank you for this.
Real smoothness on the beginning that should have been a song by itself. #nanas
Snarky Puppy, wow! Beast!
Doesn’t get much better than this🤘🏼
this is gold, amazing band!!!
Cory has had that IT fora long time butt that kid on percussion brings the snark to the puppy and Shaun is simply criminal👍🖖🖖
Saw these cats last night in ATL. Wow! My only disappointment was that they didn't play Skate U last night. Didn't see Cory nor Shawn during first set. To make matters worse I couldn't tell if the drummer that played the first set was Sput. ( Major Panic Mode). Fortunately, all fears were laid to rest when I saw the techs tweaking Cory and Shawns keyboards along with Sputs drums and then I saw all three come on stage to begin the second set.
This is awesome.... Keep doing it guys!!!! - Buy the CD's too......
Love these guys..
15:42 favorite part of him getting back to the groove.
omg, love this song
This is freaking UNREAL! Where are these tracks from? I haven't heard them from the album(s).
DAYUMN these guys kick ass!
The first one is Skate U
YOU GUYS HAVE TO COME TO THE UK..................
Splendid
They really should record the modern version of Strawman they've been doing live these past years, as the original from Bring us the bright sounds QUITE different (but still amazing). Might be my favorite SP song.
thanks for posting but honestly I haven't found much recorded material that can stand up to the Dallas Show 2013 which just had an incredible chemistry
Ive got to learn that intro groove!!
***** Yeah. I've always felt that Cory's solos feel like drum solos... And then I realized he can actually play drums very well. That explains a lot. :) Anyway, that intro piano groove. I'm a drummer. I'm going to learn to play it. On the piano. It's that good. :D
@Max Johnson, its called 'Skate U'
Who would stand through a whole snarky puppy concert filming it on their iPhone?
+Abram Wolfe Mamet The real MVP
