I wanted to see Babylon, but there is NO WAY I can convince my parents to take me to see that especially when here in Canada it´s rated 18A (most R rated movies get 14A here so it´s surprising that happened at all). So I´ll have to support my fellow countryman James Cameron and see Avatar: The Way of Water

I watched Pinocchio, it´s AMAZING. It´s silly and innocent enough to be appropriate for kids but still dark enough for teenagers like me and adults to enjoy. Love these videos man, you really help me make my watchlists

I'm so glad you find them useful. And that's great to hear about PINOCCHIO. I plan on watching it with my parents and my toddler this weekend as it seems like it could appeal to all three of our generations. Hopefully it's not too scary for my little guy though 😳

@@cineflect It´s more than good enough for him, worst case scenario the chaacter designs might be a little uncomfortable. Best case scenario as he gets older you can introduce him to more del Toro movies like Devils Backbone and Shape of Water

I’m most excited to see Pinocchio and Glass Onion. I’m surprised at myself by how utterly uninterested I am in Avatar 2, I almost feel I have to check it out only out of obligation :D

Yeah, a new James Cameron film is a pop culture event. If you don't see it, you'll be missing out on something huge, for better or for worse...

@@cineflect seeing it in imax tomorrow too 👀You know they are running a 3 special things in imax in front of avatar? Oppenheimer has something, Mission Impossible 7 has something, and Creed III. Crazy. I don’t know if they are just replacing trailers with those things or what. They are like special looks or something

What an interesting year for film. The best this year came from a resurgence in stop motion animation, so many good horror films, requel trilogies finally done with [as if their's anything left], box office vs streaming, and the large variety of movies in general, 2022 may or may not had been the most interesting year for film so far this decade. What do you think?

    • @cineflect
      @cineflect  Рік тому

That's a great snapshot, Jake. I largely agree with you, especially on the horror front-best crop in years! I think it was a great year for movies, especially if you took full advantage of the multiplex spectacles (RRR, THE NORTHMAN, EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE, TOP GUN, NOPE, AVATAR) as well as the arthouse offerings (AFTER YANG, TÁR, AFTERSUN, BANSHEES).

Well, I already watched most of them, and they are unfortunately all disappointing imo. Yet to see Avatar, The Whale, Bardo, and Eternal Daughter. For Babylon, I had my hopes down because of the trailer, and I still hated it. So yeah, good luck with that. Hope everyone enjoys this month in movies!

Out of all the movies I've seen on this list so far (which is, surprisingly, almost all of them):
-Empire of Light is bland as hell.
-Avatar is basically just a slightly better version of the first, so mileage may vary.
-BARDO isn't bad, but a disappointing mess.
-Babylon isn't bad, but a glorious mess.
-White Noise isn't bad, but a respectable mess.
    -Pinocchio is pretty good.
    -Glass Onion is great!
-Women Talking is extremely disappointing, especially in how blandly it's directed.
And as a bonus, Corsage is fine, but doesn't do much with the whole "anachronistic costume period piece" schtick that's becoming more and more of a crutch.

I loved Del Toro's Pinocchio, but at least we agree Glass Onion is great.... I haven't seen the other movies so I don't have an opinion, so how dare you be not nice, and be honest with your thoughts, now lie and pretend everything's good... this joke went on for too long.
