    It's pretty much just the noise from the tires on the surface now. Good job!

    With the sound off, this is a video of late 70's Brian Wilson making an album of halfway house dudes riding ebikes in a parking garage.

    Great test, Eric. A very echoy place, perfectly quiet, and as clear cut as riding past the mic. Very clear.

    well , what I Will say ,have nothing to do about Bafang noise , due to my medical condition I can't drive a car ,but I need to make my errands , so I decided to make me electric bike ,I never heard of Luna cycle ,so I order a bafang motor BBSHD on line ,there were no intructions in how mount the motor ,how to set up the motor ,until one friend told me to check the Luna cycle videos I did what they said ,everything was well mounted ,but the chain aligment was worst than my legs , then again luna cycle videos come to the rescue ,got their 19 mm eclipse chain ring and everything went great , only if somebody can tell me way I can't set my top speed at 99 km because my LCD ,don't let me set about 43 Km ,but thanks again Luna cycle for the videos and the help of your personnel each time I go there

    Bike two was the quietest... I'd go stock steel gears and keep a set of nylon in my tool bag for back-up. With Luna's temp shut-off, burning out the nylon gears might never happen anyway! I have been looking round the web for Ebikes and my mind is set on a Luna Tuned Ebike…. just gotta save a few more months of my milk money and I will be all set! Talk at ya soon Luna-tics! PEACE!

      @@buddhathisbread3727 I did some looking round for about a year now... I couldn't build a DIY, using the same quality components as Luna can... myself, I am more concerned with quality than I am riding below the Po-Po's Radar. I am an Environmental Activist and need something that can haul gear deep into the woods and something that can get me and the gear out of the woods safe and fast. Enjoy your weekend!

    Obviously if one wants a decent bike with decent power at a decent price ... Luna is the best out there. That being said I don't think they understand what it's like for us just 'trying' to get into this world. Yes, we're noobs. Uninitiated. The lowest form of life. BUT we're your yet unrealized market. At least many of us have tried hard enough to understand this new world that we even KNOW about Luna Cycle. Some of us have even read most of Karl's articles and even some of Matt's.
    BUT ... we can't really get in the door. We cannot get enough information on actually buying a bike to feel even a little bit safe. Do we just have to plunk down some money and hope we get a bike within six months? It feels like that. Luna needs to put out real information on the supply chain and availability of bikes. I've even gone to the forum and its a dead zone. 95% OLD information. No real activity. I know covid has royally offed things up. All the more reason to clue the public in on the state of things. Just assure me I can actually get a bike and you will actually treat me as a valued customer once I take the plunge. Please. I really want an upscale bike and I have the money.

    The big question is how durable is your $200 plastic gear compared to s stronger metal gear? Moreover, is there a performance increase with plastic?

    • @hoptard
      @hoptard 3 роки тому

      Without non-Ludi it's probably going to be fine, if you go with the Ludi mod stick with the steel gear. I've seen the pics of the failures (with Ludi mod) but every bike is subjective to how one operates the bike (improperly???). There is no performance increase, it's a gear, the performance is within the shunting of the electric motor.
      The Peek Gear is quieter than steel, but steel isn't that loud, a Traxxas RC truck is louder. My X1 (Ludi mod) was accidentally modified with the silent "Peek" gear, however Luna shipped (when I requested) the steel gear at no cost owing to their mistake. So far, X1 is a blast to ride....for harder riding, upgrading the Yari fork to the Lyrik "ultimate" level and installing a Fox DHx2 shock.

    Nice test, thanks. Very smart to point out that holding the tire in the air is not the best measure of noise level. Electric cars have a built-in noise to alert pedestrians-- maybe the slightly noisy metal gear would be a good safety feature? I don't like noisy motors but I after hearing the X1 in motion I don't think I'll buy the silent treatment.

    I be honest , I’m looking for some dishonesty for business purpose in “Luna” but mr.Eric seems genuinely want to deliver super Ebikes at competitive prices.. seems to b his ultimate goal.. & pure passion DEDICATION TO HIS WISH.. WE REAP THE BENEFITS.. god bless u eric🙏🙏🙏 I truly enjoy the bbshd I bought from u.. counting days when I can buy Enduro & another bbshd for my crippled MTB .. now 2yrs laying upside down ...;(💔🙏🙏🙏 god bless u Eric.. BTW, NOISE IS GOOD , IT LETS OTHERS KNOW OF UR EXISTENCE!;) so they can claim u creep on them.. god bless 🙏🙏🙏🤑🤑🤑🤑

    That is not a real-world test. Those bikes are under a very low load. Put the metal gear bike on a steep incline at low speed, like single track, and that metal gear bike is going to be annoying as hell. Also, it will just get louder with time until after a short while it needs to be replaced like a chain would. There is a reason that every decent mid engine bike in the world uses reliable nylon gears. A Bafang m600 is not made to handle more than 850 watts peak and that is why the nylon gear fails.

    • @hoptard
      @hoptard 2 роки тому

      @@ericsacco7406 yeh, Luna installed the Peek on my bike even though it wasn't ordered. They promptly sent the Steel gear to me as a backup at no charge. When the bike arrived I was thinking something wasn't right because it was so quiet, granted it is nice but I could care less about the noise.
