You left out materials - iron, aluminum, magnesium, plastics, ceramics and glasses - the learning is deep and fascinating once you are over the initial hurdle of ignorance. Focus is a skill that is in short supply but ever so important - I worry that many people see no need to do so. Old men seem to enjoy the focus mechanical projects engender. New cars are disabling - although you think they will be happiness inducing, they seem to bring anxiety - too much money, not enough understanding - so even if the car is likely to go some time before problems arise, you feel helpless to know if there is a problem, if it is serious, will it be expensive, and will I be cheated by the company that fixes it ???? I am always interested in the insight into culture that using machines and parts from different countries gives - Chinese cheaters, German overly tight tolerances, Japanese quality, Swiss certifications, American marketing bloviation, etc.

Chinese really cheaters? Are you sure 😁¿? Yes, I know not enough about materials 🤔 but I always can say which material crappy and which is good. Probably this enjoyable learning process about materials will be in future if I'll be able to find understandable source for my level🧐.
Thank you very much! Really interesting as always 😊

@@patricksgarage I lived in China for four years, working as an engineer in various factories, and it was illuminating. China has lost most of their original culture, replaced by hypercapitalism - indeed, they are probably the most capitalist of all cultures now, money money money above everything. Safety, quality, society, reputation - none of that matters anymore. I look forward to the eventual restoration of their original culture valuing justice, harmony and generosity.
