PCVR gaming is pretty dead. It has been pretty dead for 10 years. Why would anyone own both a gaming PC and a PS5? LOL You are spending $2500 for nothing much. Isn't it irrational? Better wait for PS6 which will perform as well as a 3080 or higher.

Hey there! I'm eventually upgrading too, but I'm really not sure. Especially with the Quest 3 coming out soon. Was the difference in sharpness / resolution and such very notable? And how comfortable is it? These are my two main concerns with the Quest 2.
I just went from the 1 to the pro. They both feel very good quality. I loved the blacks of the 1 but the visual quality of the pro is amazing. Specially when the game makes use of the dimming zones. It's not very comfortable but you can make adjustments watching a couple of videos online. I'm only bummed that there hasn't been any software development whatsoever and that the processor is old. I really want to use it for work, but there's not much to do... No one is there.
PSVR 2 is better and much cheaper. That AR thing is pretty useless with no real apps. PSVR 2 is way more comfortable with better padding and much lighter. It may look bulkier, but it is actually much more comfortable. That comfort more than compensates for its wire. If you can, you should return that Quest pro. It costs less for a PS5+PSVR 2. It is also light proof. Its controller haptic and adaptive triggers are just like those of PS5 controllers. Have you tried firing some machine guns? Quest pro is not for gaming. And it doesn't have Tobii eye tracking. Play No Man Sky and you will see how good the Tobii eye tracking really is. I can interact with objects just by looking.
The Quest pro really hasn't reached it's full potential yet. I like mine but I also don't like many aspects of mine... The big thing for me is tracking in steam vr... Inside out tracking sucks, that's honestly the biggest issue. Everything is honestly a work around. The pro not coming with the full light blocker was a mistake along with the controllers they are fairly bad for a 1.5k headset. Everything on it felt like an after thought. At 1k its still a steep asking price 750 is about right for my expectations of the headset. 750 USD, full light blocker, a back to front head strap. Also at launch it had massive problems it shouldn't have launched for another 3 months... That would have saved the pro IMHO...
I wish it was as easy to play 2D PC games as it is to play games on the PSVR2. The complete native OS experience of the PSVR is just so cool, I love the Quest Pro, but PCVR just always feels a little more clunky than I’d like

Interesting review. The software hasn't changed, but expecting it to change somewhat when the launch of the Quest 3 happens although it's worrying business software hasn't come forth as prominantly as I guess people had hoped. Ultimately for me it's not about the price, £1000, £1500 even £2000 I would have paid for it. It's a high end headset, or rather it should have been. Too many corners have been cut here and it's a little embarrasing with the albeit Vision Pro coming out next year and arguable a more capable business headset in the Quest 3.
I think the Quest Pro came out in a hurry to cater more to businesses and using it for meetings. Hence the enhanced writing/drawing feature, not much better for gaming with the same processor and lack of features.
No business will ever use that Quest pro. I doubt if the total sales of Quest pro even exceeds 100k units. If not, Meta will end its support of this pricy toy very soon.
When the price dropped by 500 i got one. I love it and it is now my daily used headset. You have to put it on and use it to understand how good that head set is.
I agree, I upgraded recently and love using it for productivity as well. I've started making content around it. I'll be excited when the cameras look better in future iterations
it has 2 screens so you don't lose pixels (resolution) from the centre (unseen portion) of the single shared screen on quest 2. The PPD is higher on quest pro so it is effectively slightly higher res and has a slightly higher fov also.
You have to accept that nothing is perfect in technology, their is always something ‘better’ around the corner, although if you look back it isn’t always better!
After 5 months of daily use my biggest takeaway is how it allows for natural 'smooth pursuit movement'. A specific eye movement that the pancake optical stack allows to occur. You cannot have this same natural eye movement on fresnel lenses such as the Quest 2.
@@RogerEssigArtist It is NOT because of pancake lenses. PSVR 2 may have smaller sweet spots because of foveated rendering. But if you move your head instead of just your eyes to look at things, it will be as sharp. However, PSVR 2 is much better in terms of brightness, contrast, color range, .. because of its OLED. It is much better than Quest pro's LCD. Quest pro is also NOT for gaming. It lacks a lot of the gaming functions that PSVR 2 has, like head haptic, adaptive trigger, touch sensor, tobii eyetracking for interacting with object and aiming your targets, ...
@@maxjames00077 Stop bragging about the silly pancake lenses. If it is that great Sony would have adopted it. Instead Sony developed its improved fresnel with OLED. Pancake lenses are just thinner and lighter all because of that HEAVY snapdragon chip set and battery! Pancake lenses are NOT better in terms of image quality.
It's worth noting that the people who are criticizing the $1000 price tag of the Quest headset are often the same ones who wouldn't hesitate to purchase Apple's equivalent with identical specifications, even if it costs several thousand dollars more
In fairness, Apple's upcoming HMD is very likely to be 4k x 4k per eye (over twice the resolution) and use micro OLED not LCD (so no mura and much better contrast/colours/blacks even vs local dimming), I imagine ergonomics will be a lot better on the Apple also. That said, sure it'll be 'over-priced' as per but may at least inspire others to start taking VR more seriously (Samsung are back in the VR game purely because of Apple and will hopefully make a better priced alternative)
Meta Quest Pro, the "Wallie Lenses"! Extended Battery than the Meta Quest Two, Rechargeable Battery Dock, and Features that Meta Quest 2 did not have! 50% Better Image! Hopefully enough CPU/GPU to play the White Building Athletic World within Cluster! Because, Meta Quest 2 would not render the map very smoothly.
Unfortunately, gamers are still a low priority for Meta. Also, in my opinion there is currently a market to use HMD's as a multi monitor replacement but the resolution was too low on the Quest Pro to cut it.
@@SimplestUsername The entire North American market for quest pro is barely the same size as the PSVR 2 market in Canada. Because that's what it will be used for by most people in the end. Most people in the world aren't gamers. There is ZERO chance that I will buy the PSVR. I am not going to buy a VR set that ONLY works on the Play Station. My understanding is that the Quest 3 will still have the processor in the Quest 2, Snapdragon 2, whereas the PRO has the 2+, right? If the plan is to keep the Q3 under $600, it won't be better than the PRO overall. With recent updates, I have heard more positive reviews of the PRO. Can't wait for the Q3 because of budgetary rules and whatever Apple comes out with will be under-powered and too expensive or amazing AND too expensive. And based on my experience with Apple products and more universal platforms, paradigms, developing with the new Apple VR systems will likely be less integrated with what everyone else is doing so more development headaches. Dang budgetary rules.
i really want VR / AR to be cheap like AI is becoming super advance and it costed millions of dollars to train AI etc and now its super cheap to train and make AI heck theres even some free AI out there that as good as GPT4 or other paid AI and i know thats software and this is hardware but im hoping it does get cheaper and easier to make so that everyone can experience VR / AR for a cheap price
The Quest 3 will have pancake lenses etc so yeah probably at least almost as good. Maybe a little bit less density? But the price different is mostly due to the Q3 not having self tracking controllers and face tracking etc. Also, the Quest Pro is already close to a year old when the Quest 3 is released. Idk how they are going to solve this in the future because they should be released together. Because now the Quest 3 will have a better chip than the Pro... The new generation Pro will be way better than the Quest 3 again tho. MicroLED for example. That will be mind blowing
@@Ray__E and you overestimate Apple’s market research…they wont price it at 3k so more people will get it…the more people who has it, the more developers will support it
At $1000 we aren’t going to buy it? That was uncalled for. I bought one from the price drop and it’s amazing with a better screen than quest 3 will have and likely better controller tracking and face and eye tracking. I use this for pcvr and it is now widely respected as the best pcvr headset. Know your audience. Valve index users spent over $1000 on their very headset years ago. This is better than the index in almost every way.
Your comment makes it sound like you're praising the Quest Pro BECAUSE you spent $1,000 for it. Whether you paid $1,500 at launch or $1,000 now, the hardware specs remain the same. A product should be judged based on the experience it provides and NOT how much money you paid for it.
I knew going in I would disagree with this guy. Was not wrong. "The only thing it has is a much better display, but that's just one thing, who would buy it for this one thing that happens to be a much better display?" This guy man.
I might be wrong on this, people from the future will know this. I don't think there is going to be a Meta Quest 3. I think Meta Quest Pro is the Meta Quest 3. Regarding Apple VR: I don't think Apple going to either release a VR, AR, or Mix Reality headset or glasses. Why? Everybody has been waiting for up to 10 or more years for the following. Apple TV (4k tv set) Apple Car (not apple car play, an actual vehicle)
Why tf would there not be a quest 3? The quest 2 has already been a massive success, it’s already been confirmed the quest 3 is coming soon and there have been multiple leaks

The complete native OS experience of the PSVR is just so cool, I love the Quest Pro, but PCVR just always feels a little more clunky than I’d like
Are you able to play any game on PS5 with the headset?
@@4000Wiggins not the Quest. Only with the PSVR
@@4000Wiggins Yes, you can play 2D PS5 games on your PSVR 2. In fact, a small part of GT7 is in 2D mode.
Virtual desktop works well for me.
@@JustFeral It is KNOWN to have latency. You have no other choice cause you are a PCVR gamer. You pay so much more and YET still have tons of issues. Just buy a PS5 and a PSVR 2. It is a cheaper and a BETTER option.

The cameras on that headset looks like a pair of eyes pointing in opposite directions
TBH, I’d forgotten that this headset was even a thing. 😆
My headset can’t turn on
What game app is being used at 1:57? He chucks the moon into the earth and it looks fun!
Got the quest 2 and valve index. Won't buy another one unless it has oled screens and good battery life while on wireless.
Quest Pro next generation will have something better than OLED, namely microLED. Can't wait for that in combination with those amazing pancake lenses
Great points. I will wait for Quest 3. Just hate the weight of the quest 2.
When the price dropped by 500 i got one. I love it and it is now my daily used headset. You have to put it on and use it to understand how good that head set is.
I agree, I upgraded recently and love using it for productivity as well. I've started making content around it. I'll be excited when the cameras look better in future iterations
I’d love to upgrade to a Pro, but I’m not paying 4x what I paid for my Quest 2 just for pancake lenses, color pass-through and local dimming.
reminds me of those reviews in Black Mirror: Bandersnatch
For poor people with bad visions, quest pro is a game changer
Poor people can dish out a grand for a game accessory? I wish I was poor!
The Quest Pro actually has a slightly lower resolution than the Quest 2.
on paper yes, but in practice it is far sharper than Q2
it has 2 screens so you don't lose pixels (resolution) from the centre (unseen portion) of the single shared screen on quest 2. The PPD is higher on quest pro so it is effectively slightly higher res and has a slightly higher fov also.
The background music is annoying while you're making your talking points! 🤨🤨🤨
"flip up like a visor" is revolutionary
You have to accept that nothing is perfect in technology, their is always something ‘better’ around the corner, although if you look back it isn’t always better!
Quest pro is $2000 in Romania, poor countries are getting ripped off 😢
There is a reason for that......maybe Romania should start making their own VR headsets and sell them for much much cheaper.
After 5 months of daily use my biggest takeaway is how it allows for natural 'smooth pursuit movement'. A specific eye movement that the pancake optical stack allows to occur. You cannot have this same natural eye movement on fresnel lenses such as the Quest 2.
@@nonyabizness8692 did you learn about it yet? You've had 9 minutes.
It lacks a lot of the gaming functions that PSVR 2 has, like head haptic, adaptive trigger, touch sensor, tobii eyetracking for interacting with object and aiming your targets, ...
omg i cant wait to get a quest pro or quest 3 with pancake lenses!!
I got the quest pro is pretty comfortable and really cool
It's worth noting that the people who are criticizing the $1000 price tag of the Quest headset are often the same ones who wouldn't hesitate to purchase Apple's equivalent with identical specifications, even if it costs several thousand dollars more
In fairness, Apple's upcoming HMD is very likely to be 4k x 4k per eye (over twice the resolution) and use micro OLED not LCD (so no mura and much better contrast/colours/blacks even vs local dimming), I imagine ergonomics will be a lot better on the Apple also. That said, sure it'll be 'over-priced' as per but may at least inspire others to start taking VR more seriously (Samsung are back in the VR game purely because of Apple and will hopefully make a better priced alternative)
but like... why are you defending it (?) X(
Meta Quest Pro, the "Wallie Lenses"!
Wrong, the meta pro has a better processor, the sd+ AND more ram. So sick of these bashing reviews with lousy info.
Where can I get this information
The problem was meta thought people wanted vr for anything other than gaming. I think they learned there lesson
All Quest pro buyers are PCVR gamers who have no other choice but to upgrade their headset from Quest 2 to Quest pro. They are stuck! YET they still say Quest pro is a good purchase. LOL They have to spend $2500 to play the same kind of games that can be played on a $400 PS5 + $550 PSVR 2 = $950. LOL
Because that's what it will be used for by most people in the end. Most people in the world aren't gamers. AR will be used by most people, but i see countless of people using VR for none gaming thing already. Including myself. I mean i do like to play chess in VRchat but beside that, i dont use it for games. Watching movies in Bigscreen and VR 360 movies, studying a language, using it as my desktop/laptop, video calling etc. Social apps like VRchat, Horizon Worlds and Recroom, Bigscreen etc are the most popular apps. I wouldn't call those games
@@maxjames00077 Good point! I’m tired of people saying gaming is the be all end all of VR. There are so many other use cases for it.
@@kidzorro indeed! And if Apple releases their headset in June, people will realize it more. Bc if Apple releases something, its not going to be focused on gaming but productivity.
I got mine open box for $725
I like my quest pro. I wouldn't buy the quest 3 due to it doesn't have face or eye tracking. The quest Pro gives you a better experience playing social games like VR Chat and other games.
Ok, is it just me, or do you get the feeling it's Patton Oswalt in disguise.
Whatever happened to the promised Microsoft integration for Teams and 365?
Best vr out. Comfortable and affordable. pay 4 grand for the apple ha
Awesome review 🤙
i really want VR / AR to be cheap like AI is becoming super advance and it costed millions of dollars to train AI etc and now its super cheap to train and make AI heck theres even some free AI out there that as good as GPT4 or other paid AI and i know thats software and this is hardware but im hoping it does get cheaper and easier to make so that everyone can experience VR / AR for a cheap price
I have quest pro
2676 USD .... Thats the swedish price of the Quest Pro. A 1000 bucks? LUXURIES!!!!🙄
The big screen is better
There's just no way that the optics are gonna be as good on the Quest 3 for half the price.
Oof, turns out they're better
@@Jdb63 no pro has better optics still. Miniled with dimming zones is way nicer

Meta quest 3 killing the quest pro lmao
I might be wrong on this, people from the future will know this.
I don't think there is going to be a Meta Quest 3. I think Meta Quest Pro is the Meta Quest 3.
Regarding Apple VR:
I don't think Apple going to either release a VR, AR, or Mix Reality headset or glasses.
Why?
Everybody has been waiting for up to 10 or more years for the following.
Apple TV (4k tv set)
Apple Car (not apple car play, an actual vehicle)
No they have issues statements (oculus) that oculus 3 is coming out this year and a new cheaper one next year
Why tf would there not be a quest 3? The quest 2 has already been a massive success, it’s already been confirmed the quest 3 is coming soon and there have been multiple leaks
Given the most recent Apple event invitation looks like a set of fresnel lenses, I think this comment will age poorly
@angrynooblets34 @paulpivaral4832 Meta/Facebook has yet to announce or confirmed Oculus/Meta Quest 3.
However, they did confirmed that the are working on a budget headset.
