Yeah Code Geass isn't the best for mech battles. If you want good space battles, it's either Gundam (any of them) or Macross. After that comes the balls to the walls series like Dai Gao Gar, Gurren Lagaan, Mazinger Z and Voltron.
good to check sites like myanimelist to see how many seasons and how many OPs and EDs each series has before assuming. YT can have a lot of missing stuff.
ALL the Gundam franchise ops Besides that- Lovely Complex My Senpai is Annoying Jitsu wa Watashi wa Aharen-san wa Hakarenai chillin in another world with level 2 super cheat powers
Gundam Wing was the series that basically introduced Gundam to the West, there were attempts before, but Gundam Wing on Toonami was most Westerners first time getting into it. Oh, so the only reason you havent done all the Gundam OPs is because you cant find all of them? Here's a playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLJFMcRYOCD5xh6DhuHrTu2Y89FjY3eJra.html
Oh my god, we need to get your comment up so he sees it. I've been asking for the Gundam opening reactions since he started doing anime opening on this channel, we need all of them
Samurai Champloo = Samurai Edo Period theme + Hip Hop music Cowboy Bebop = Noir Space Western theme + Jazz music Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are both directed by Shinichiro Watanabe so they usually go hand in hand.
THIS VIDEO WAS MADE FOR ME I SWEAR. my brother has me and one of my friends watching Gundam Wing right now, and it's amazing. we're watching the dub, because it's gloriously awkward, but what started as an ironic watch has very rapidly turned into a whole hearted experience of genuine enjoyment. there's just something transcendent about a piece of media that makes me so deeply interested in the plot and characters, while also making me laugh this hard at the line delivery. my favorite character for this is Duo, naturally, because he is such a unique combination of what would be edgy characterization if it weren't for the chipper way he's voiced. and I also have a huge soft spot for Relena. she is the teenage girl of all time, I love her I love her I love her. god if you ever get the chance to watch Gundam Wing... please watch it dubbed, and please go in blind. Gundam Wing is one of the Gundam installments where you can basically go in blind, because the story is self contained and explains what you need to know. and a lot of the designs of the robots themselves are really really good. and then reacting to Samurai Champloo in the same video? you really hit it outta the park with this one. very good video.
Gundam Wing is the perfect combination of very campy, and taking itself very seriously. that's why I think the dub is best, like, it's really janky but that kind of fits the theatrical levels of drama that are unfolding. literally nobody in the show talks like a normal person, they all talk like characters in a shakespearean drama but in real life, and it's both goofy and very fitting. there are a lot of parts of this show that have real weight and depth, and it is so funny to watch how this show chooses to convey it all. this would be such an entertaining reaction if your audience ever blesses you with the opportunity to do it. also, that end credit sequence is amazing because it's so in character. her character never does anything like this in the show at all, but I can 100% believe that she would, and that's what's important.
I recommend 1. (2008) Macross Frontier for a mech series! (Macross franchise has been a long time rival to the gundam franchise since the 80s) other mech recommendations: 2. (1994) Magic Knight Rayearth 3. (1996) Tenkuu no Escaflowne (The Vision of Escaflowne) 4. (1996) Kidou Senkan Nadesico (Martian Successor Nadesico) 5. (1999) Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure 6. (2000) Vandread 7. (2002) Gundam SEED /SEED Destiny 8. (2003) Godannar 9. (2004) Fafner 10. (2004) Kannazuki no Miko 11. (2005) Aquarion 12. (2009) Asura Cryin' 13. (2013) Suisei no Gargantia (Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet) 14. (2013) Valvrave 15. (2014) Aldnoah.Zero 16. (2014) Cross Ange etc..
Nujabes is the grandfather of the lo-fi hip hop genre, right next to J Dilla. RIP. His albums "Departure" and "Impression" are for the Samurai Champloo OST.
For Gundam Wing, you should also listen to the songs from the Endless Waltz OVA/Movie. I also recommend you seeing the OPs for Gundam 00 and G Gundam if you haven't heard those already.
actually, I want to come back and say this... I'm fairly new to Gundam, and the mech genre in general. I've had it in the periphery of my awareness for a long time, but always found it inaccessible, especially Gundam, with it's massive amount of sprawling material. I think what really made it accessible to me was the knowledge that, while Gundam (the franchise) has a main storyline, and a lot of Gundam titles line up to form a unified canon that relies on prior knowledge of the proceeding material... a lot of Gundam titles are also self contained narratives, where their only real tie to the Gundam universe is the robots (aka, there are particular robots known as Gundams, and they are a feature in the story) and the themes/possibly the vague shape of the political dynamics. but when it gets into the details, the show will usually just tell you what's up if it's a stand alone story. like, in Gundam Wing, each episode begins with an opening narration that goes through the general current state of things. that way, if you haven't seen the show for a week or something, you'll be up to speed enough to follow what's going on. as someone who has only watched a few minor Gundam stories before, I found Wing to be very accessible. but also, Gundam isn't the only mecha thing out there... recently I watched my way through Neon Genesis Evangeleon, which is gorgeous, confusing, and a very different vibe. tonally speaking, "mecha" is not a very unified genre... you can tell any kind of story with giant robots in it. but the fact that you mentioned Pacific Rim is actually fantastic! I'm pretty sure Gundam was a direct inspiration for that movie, and tbh, I love Pacific Rim too.
Gundam W has a great soundtrack. It was the first Gundam series brought out west. You definitely need to check out "RHYTHM EMOTION" and "White Reflection" too. The songs, along with "JUST COMMUNICATION," are sung by TWO-MIX. The vocalist is Takayama Minami who is most known as the voice of Conan in Detective Conan. Some of my favorite Gundam series are Gundam UC (Unicorn), Gundam 00 (Double O), and Iron-Blooded Orphans. The original "main" Gundam storyline takes place in Universal Century and is mainly about the struggles between the Federation and Zeon. Series like The original Gundam (often referred to as "First Gundam"), Z Gundam, Gundam 0080, Gundam 0083, 08th MS Team, etc take place in UC. Then there are alternate timelines that often are standalone without a real attachment to the One Year War depicted in UC, such as Gundam W, G Gundam, etc.
If you want a reasonably modern anime with space battles and mechs, stellar animation, and fantastic music, I would recommend either Macross Plus (easy at four episodes; avoid the movie compilation) or Macross Frontier (24 episodes). Both don't require knowledge of the original 80s series, but give you a serious but not too serious mainstream mecha show. Probably the best "classic" alternative is to start with the original Mobile Suit Gundam series or the original Macross series, which also gives you space mecha action immediately but is much older animation style. You should also watch Neon Genesis Evangelion - perhaps one of the most important (and fun) anime ever done - but probably AFTER you've watched some more "normal" mecha series as it is a deconstruction of them...
It was my first Gundam :) Show that got me into anime. Didn't know what the hell they were talking about (I was 8 y.o at the time.) but the robots were cool
Key information about Gundam as a franchise. The stories strive to bring a focus on the human cost of war. Showing what both sides are fighting for, how the civilians who are forced to choose sides feel, that sort of thing.
Here are my 10 recommendations for your next OP & ED reactions: 1. (2004) Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha OP & ED (with 5 series, 4 movies and 2 games; OPs & some movie EDs sung by that era's anisong queen: Mizuki Nana) 2. (2000) Vandread OP & ED (fire retro 90s/00s songs)(check out the EDs for cheekiness) 3. (2002) Kiddy Grade OP & ED 4. (2004) Fafner OP & ED 5. (2004) Mai Hime OP & ED 6. (2005) Aquarion OP & ED 7. (2005) Ichigo 100% OP & ED 8. (2005) Tsubasa Chronicle OP & ED 9. (2004) Kannazuki no Miko OP & ED 10. (2008) Macross Frontier ED & insert songs (esp the EDs like "Diamond Crevasse", "Northern Cross" & "Ao no Ether"; insert "Yousei") + (2002) Gundam SEED / SEED Destiny OPs & EDs for next Gundam music
Seeking Kiddy Grade reminded me; that anime had an absolute banger of a song that got used in the promo material, but wasn't used in the show or OST. I remember it from an ADV VHS tape promo, this song is why is why I watched that anime to begin with, and it took me ages to track it down, it's called "If I" by a band named LIttle Viking. ua-cam.com/video/lHgcRZaK1bQ/v-deo.html
of course he missed Gundam Wing's second op Rhythm Emotion lol well if u wanna react to some mecha anime here's a few reccomend Rahxephon(1 op), Burst Angel(1 Op), ssss gridman(1 op), ssss dynazenon(1 op), Fafner dead aggressor(admittedly this one's just wishful thinking as it'll be tricky to find. there's 5 openings, but the last season beyond's require going somewhere like bilibili to find)
Samurai Champloos music is mostly referred to as Lofi Hiphop, if you've ever seen the lofi beats to study to girl its pretty much that, I've also seen it referred to as Chillhop. Just mainly viby atmospheric Hiphop that samples a lot of classical, blues or jazz as a backing to create a chill beat to kinda zone out and relax to
Love your reaction! For my Mecha Anime recommendations: 1. Mobile Suit Gundam 00 2. Mobile Suit Gundam Witch from Mercury 3. Gurren Lagann Tengen Topa 4. SSSS Gridman 5. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans 6. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, SEED Destiny and Freedom 7. Visions of Escaflowne
My personal favorite mech of all time is Chamber from *Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet*. He is the best and I will absolutely fight anyone who says otherwise. It's not a classic rock'em sock'em mecha anime though, so probably not a good intro to the genre for a newcomer. EDIT to add: We are overdue for some Vision of Escaflowne though. Bring on the flying teeth!
you might Enjoy Fafner in the Azure since its like the OG attack of titan with Mechs in a sense Robots fighting monsters end of humanity deal the movie Fafner Right of Left is a great start to the tv show , you may also enjoy Heroic Age , and also Evangelion lol
The producer of both the opening and ending of Samurai Champloo is called Nujabes and he also made the whole soundtrack for the anime, he’s a very underrated japanese producer and I would really love your reactions to songs like Feather, Lady Brown, Arurian Dance or Luv(sic) pt.2 i think he is one of the best producers out there and I would really appreciate it if you gave it a shot :)
@@ondraaaa Nujabes didn't make the soundtrack all alone, actually. There were a couple of other artists involved as well whose names I unfortunately can't remember rn Same goes for the ending
Recommendation: Both videos are on youtube 1. Slam Dunk all openings and endings (Most legendary sports series in Japan) 2. Space Brothers OP/Openings 1-8
The Gundam world is insane. Not into mecha stuff myself, one anime I liked was Vision of Escaflowne (primary the movie, which was a blast at its time, visual masterpiece). An OP you definitely should check out is Kiseki no Umi from Record of Lodoss War! Also Devilman crybaby, but not the english techno one you did some time ago, but the japanese intro, one of the most listened anime songs of all time. :D
Samurai Champloo was released all the way back in 2004-2005. The opening was composed by an artist called Nujabes, who's since passed away I'd really love it if you reacted to Space Dandy opening and ending at some point, since the same director who worked on Champloo (and Cowboy Bebop!) was involved in that show too
Luke, asking about why things happen in Gundam Wing is just going to get you a "it's complicated" answer a lot of the time, remember this is a 29 year old anime, god it made me feel old saying that, the OPs are sung by Two Mix a techno J-pop duo, you should react to the second OP and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz OP too. If you're looking for a mecha anime you should start with a classic like Gunbuster, it's more of a turning point for anime in general starting or reinventing a lot of anime tropes that still stand today and being the blueprint for Neon Genesis Evangelion.
If a song is familiar to you but you haven't reacted to it, it might be from one of the Top anime OP lists you've reacted to before. You've done so many of that and many of the songs in them are the same. I hope you react to a bunch more Gundam songs. There's so many series in that franchise that you'd be making aton of videos if you decide to check them all out lol. I'm still recommending the Inuyasha EDs (plus the last OP you missed), the OP and EDs for The Law of Ueki (someone made a compilation of all of them), Tokyo Underground OP, and once you're done with Naruto, the ED songs for that since I don't see a video for it here.
Gundam Wing is one of my favourite Gundam series that I watched, next to Gundam G. I also have another Mecha anime that I like, which is Zoids. They really bring back childhood memories.

Im not into mecha that much, but I have seen one of a few, like sidonia no kishi and aldnoa zero on top of my head. Gundam wing was very popular in my childhood but i didn't get to see it, i love the character designs though. All of their faces look so angy lol
If you're a fan of mechas Gundam has a lot to offer and to understand the franchise you can check: Gundam Origin Gundam Thunderbolt Gundam Unicorn And for space battles: Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (the old one or the remake) Heroic Age Macross, which is a mix of both with idols and music while the whole universe/earth is going to shit.
If you're worried about how many Gundam openings there are, it should be noted that Gundam as a whole is divided into two distinct categories. There's the Universal Century or UC Gundam series which take place within its own continuity and then there's the Alternate Universe or AU Gundam series which takes place within their own separate continuities and aren't connected through any specific timeline. If the day comes when you do react to them, just kinda split them up into two or three (there are a lot of them still, after all) videos.
Samurai Champloo is 20 years old these days. Hey there are some Hunter X hunter Openings and Endings that you have not reacted to. ua-cam.com/play/PLn-5F16CxQnT2LlFwl6oPgM8cepfIh350.html (Playlist made by me for the ones you have not reacted to.)
When it comes to Gundam, there are a few starting points I recommend: -Gundam 00 -Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans -Gundam movie trilogy that recaps the first ever Gundam series from 1979. The series itself is overall better and worth checking out even more, but that is a commitment. I know a lot of people recommend also SEED and Wing, but to be honest I personally didn't really like them much, but I had no nostalgia towards them. They were what Gundam as introduced with in the west, so a lot of people simply saw it on television back then. The old Gundam from 1979 is old and probably would not be very popular reaction but is increadible story, and I personally really love all the entries that are in the Universal Century timeline. I really hope you can check those at some point as well, because I do feel like you might like it very much. I highly recommend to give the series a chance, and try to listen and learn about it a bit more.
@@Ash_Wen-li I agree with you that the series is better but at this point I gave up recommending the it because movies seem more approachable to people (probably because of the amount of episodes in the series and the fact it isn't really popular to react to. I doubt Luke will ever check out the movies not to mention the series itself. With movie he would at least get a sizable portion of the story to get interested in the franchaise, while one episode of the series would be very forgettable). I wish the OG series would get some reactions, but I just don't believe it will ever happen.
@@Ash_Wen-li I did not know that! Thanks for a recommendation I need to check him out! Gosh, I wish more people would give the OG Gundam a chance, but the amount of people I tried to get into it just for them to go on their phones in the first 5 minutes of the movie because it "looks bad and funny", and the amount of people who just hate mechs series for no reason at all I met in my life is rudiculous and I guess it made me lose all hope 😅
I feel like you’ve reacted to Samurai Champloo as well 😂 But I guess not. The opening is such a vibe. The entire show is like that too-weird but in a good way. I hope you check it out one day 😁
Essential mecha i recommend: 1. Gurren Lagann (will scratch your itch) 2. Gunbuster (as well but in 6 episodes) 3. Original Mobile Suit Gundam (No better place to start the franchise) 4. Neon Genesis Evangelion (Probably not your cup of tea but a must watch)
Original just hasnt aged that well. Seed for all the flak it gets for reusing key frames has pretty much the same story with an updated art style. Either that or ibo i’ll always recomend before the og a d if they like the plot line behind the series eventually they can go back to og.
Gundam Wing is like Pacific Rim meets Twilight and when I say Twilight I meant a better written heroin whose smart and tough and when I say "smart and tough" I didn't mean "girl boss" she doesn't subvert the boys. She does her own thing while she helps the main boys do their own thing. There's "love" involve cause she and the main dude has a little thing going on. It's a good series to start your mecha journey.
"Samurai Champloo" is an anime that was aired on television in 2004, featuring innovative visuals and music that sampled various elements such as period dramas, hip hop, Uchina (people from the Ryukyu Kingdom, which is now Okinawa Prefecture, occupied and ruled by a feudal domain established by the central Edo government in the Kyushu region during the Edo period), Yamaton (Japanese people living outside of Okinawa, the Yamato people), samurai, and modern people. "Champloo" means "mixed up" in Okinawan.😊 The opening theme is "Battlecry" by Nujabes feat. Shing02. Nujabes was a Japanese DJ and HipHop producer, but passed away in 2010.😢
00 is I think the best starting point, if one want to get into Gundam. If you like 00, then you are set to be more or less at least interested in all other timelines
best mecha anime: (not ranked, just listed) 1. The Big O 2. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing 3. Code Geass 4. Full Metal Panic 5. Escaflowne 6. Eureka 7 7. Evangelion 8. Burst Angel 9. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
If you want to try getting into Gundam just try any of the titles that aren't a part of the "main timeline" since they're completely stand alone and can be watched however you want. Some of the popular titles are: Gundam A Witch from Mercury (which is the most recent entry) Gundam 00 (my personal favorite) Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans (the next newest one iirc) Gundam Seed (which I think just got a full remaster) Gundam Wing (the ones from this video) People get really intimidated trying to start Gundam but you can basically jump in anywhere.
Samurai Champloo is such a mix of comedy, drama and nostalgia I can't even describe. I should rewatch it someday. Gundam Wing it's the only Gundam I ever watched, it was part of my childhood along Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X), Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Evangelion... The good old times before I would bother my mind with bills to pay. 😂 09:00 Honestly that's my favorite type of music, findind harmony in the midle of chaos 😂I get such a vibe of it in the collaby between Revo and Yuki Kajiura in the live version of "Dream Port" but it's different vocals till everything just click. Actually a lot of Yuki Kajiura live performances caries this caracteristic I higly recommend "Key of the Twilight" studio recording with JOELLE.
I’m a bit surprised at how many people aren’t actually bringing up he react to Gurren Lagann?!! Giant robots, space battles, cheesy campy inspiration and love stuff?! Cmon now!! GURREN LAGANN!!
The vocalist of TWO-MIX, who sang the theme song for Gundam W, is Minami Takayama, the voice actress who has played the lead role of Conan Edogawa in "Detective Conan" for 28 years😆
Cant find a complete playlist of Gundam op's? well it's your lucky day Luke, I think I have the most complete UA-cam playlist of Gundam openings right here on my channel. Not a 100% complete list but as close as you can get with copyright law blocking some and I'm pretty sure they are all in release order, I even recorded some cleaner versions when possible.
Gundam Wing's OP having the rare art of sound effects in the Openings (even if you only did the first OP and skipped Rhythm Emotion.. As much as many people love Wing, it's definitely not the best Gundam to start with, imo. Sure it's standalone, but it just feels somewhere like it goes between serious and seriously goofy. Gundam X all the way, if you want Gundam! Otherwise, Eureka Seven, since you already watched the OPs (and endings????).
3:10 "Is that a frog?" The basis for the frog art touch is a part of the design of the traditional Japanese card game "Hanafuda," which depicts a frog trying to jump onto a willow tree together with Ono no Michikaze, one of the three most prominent figures in the history of calligraphy who was active around the 10th century. The design is inspired by a well-known anecdote in which Ono no Michikaze was troubled by his talent for calligraphy, and saw a frog trying to jump onto a willow branch, failing over and over again, and finally succeeding in jumping. This is how he realized the importance of not giving up and trying hard😌. Incidentally, a Kyoto company that has been making this card game since the Edo period made a video game console in modern times, and it became popular all over the world. That company is Nintendo 🤭
Im 90% sure you heard the champloo opening in a best of compliation. Its definetly one you dont forget even if you dont jive with it Also gundam is very talky and depending on the series very politics forward. If you are looking for a entry point season 1 of iron blooded orphans is good. If you want a bananas gundam series G gundam is a great time
These are some great classics. Samurai Champloo's unusual sounds are some peoples favorite songs ever to this day. Gundam Wing was the show that brought Gundam to the US(and the rest of the English-speaking world) for the first time in a big way. Some recommendations: First you are sleeping on rinne reactions top 100 anime endings, top 100 anime OSTs, and TOp 100 anime songes modeled the same way he did the opening video. you gotta get to them soon and also: continuing the ask: Day 285 Attempt 102 asking for Dot Hack Sign Openings and Endings/ Dot Hack Franchise reactions (intertwined series of Anime and Games) ot "The World" for OSTs
Generally speaking the music in Samurai Champloo is lo-fi hip hop. The man that did most of the music for it, Nujabes, if he didn't create the genre, popularized it all over the world. Although, they only used them for one episode each, episodes 12, 17 and 26 had different ending theme songs for Samurai Champloo. You definitely got to check them out.
Samurai champool is a legendary series . One of the OG's from Adult swim from cartoon network , that many 30 year old anime fans watched back in the day . Its roughly 30 episodes amazing series 🤌 If you ever decide to watch this series or cowboy bebop. You absolutely need to watch it in the dub . There is no other way to watch it the voice actors are peak
gundam wing - that brings back memories from decades ago though I defenitely prefer our german versions of the OP and ED we got on TV one of the first songs that got stuck in my head as a kid... and with the german lyrics the scenes make much sense :P most gundam shows are around some for of concept of war/human divide iirc gunadam wing was about... ...imperialism with earth royalty vs space colonies mfg Olli
Well if you want Space Battle scheck out the OP to space battleship yamato 2199. Absolute classic and fantastic remake with an iconic OP. (Star Blazers in US)
That girl is the female main character and one of the most important characters of the story with huge ties to the heroes and villains with and she holds a lot of political power so you saying she’s out of place is way off. 😂
My personal recommendation based on what I know of the shows you've watched and liked so far, is to try watching Gundam Seed to start for the following reasons: - It's story is roughly follows many of the same beats as the original, but with newer animation. - It is set in it's own continuity, so you don't need to watch or know anything before seeing it, - It has a single sequel series, Gundam Seed Destiny that recently had a new movie followup come out for it just this year, Gundam Seed Freedom - For people who are critical of the show, their biggest complaint about the main character is similar to people's complaints about Kirito from SAO, so I think it may similarly not bother you. Another good possible starting point is Gundam: Witch from Mercury, which is pretty new, but my suggestion is for Gundam Seed as the story there parallels the original more. Here's a playlist (that I didn't make) to all the openings for Gundam Seed, and it's sequel, Gundam Seed Destiny: ua-cam.com/play/PLzxNpWPCPK3PN2_AvuvlD-IAc2JP2NlCe.html
Samurai Champloo, such a good anime and the music is from Nujabes, always a good vibe. Nujabes was/is still the king of lofie music. ☺ Since you asked for another anime Opening and Ending recomendation. Listen to Air Gear opening and Ending then. :)
It's great to see another Gundam Opening reaction. Gundam is HUGE and it is 45th anniversary this year and you should watch it. People always say something about you should watch mainstream or popular anime if not you're weirdo. But when I recommend them watch gundam, they just like pfff another mech anime and give me a million stupid excuses.
The model kits are called Gunpla, and once you start building, they have you in their iron grip. Its affectionately referred to in the community as "Plastic crack", it's very addicting. Since you want to watch Gundam there are easier series to get into like Witch from Mercury and Iron Blooded orphans, they are the newer ones and are set in their own independent timelines, some of the other timelines are a bit confusing to get into considering the history and world changing events that have happened in each timeline, for example say starting Unicorn while not really understanding the events that took place during the one year war in the Universal Century. Another mecha anime that is a definite watch is Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, it's a train that runs on infinite Hype.
"Inbetweeners" are the people that draw the frames in between the "key" frames, and as I'm led to believe, it's some real grunt work. Salary for animators is already generally pretty low, and inbetweeners get even less. If you ever hear something is animated "on 1s", "on 2s" or 3s/4s/6s/8s/12s those are divisors of 24 (the common fps) meaning that every X frames are a "key" frame, all the rest being "inbetween" frames.
11:12 the robots arent really called gundam, well technically it is but its the frenchise that is called gundam and there is many differnt gundam series taking place in different universe/continuity where war is engage using giant armored robotic suits called mobile suits piloted by a human within a cockpit located around the abdominal or chest area and in each series the term ‘gundam’ can mean different things like in gundam seed it was an acronym for an operating system, in gundam IBO (iron blooded orphans) it referred to the special 72 mechanical frames a mobile suit be built using as the base and gave it a special feature and in gundam wing the gundams meant for the 5 mobile suits built using a special gundamium alloy by 5 different scientist that all had their designs derived from a singular prototype design that was originally developed together by those scientist before splitting up 12:47 if you wanna start a new mech anime i recommend gundam 00 or gundam IBO
Recommendations of older anime. 1. Read or Die the movie and R.O.D. the tv I'm a big "paper" fan btw (Character not product, lol) 2. Zatch/Gash Bell Which btw the author has a zatch bell 2 manga ongoing currently. Hoping that gets animated down the line. Love the stories, and love the op/eds!

The one day I get preoccupied with something else is the day you finally do Samurai Champloo. You better not do Gunslinger Girl or Black Rock Shooter when I have a day-long conference to attend or something, Luke!
Samurai Champloo is a pretty solid series. It's not super long, and the action scenes are still good. Gundam Wing was my first anime. The first, like three episodes are super angsty but then it gets better. But it's from the 80s I think, so it's got a lot of that corny-ness that hasn't aged well. I still love it, but it's probably from the nostalgia factor.
The second opening and 2 songs from the ova/film called white reflection and last impression are missing. Good Gundams are Iron-Blooded Orphans, The 08th MS Team, Turn A, 00, and the original UC series are also great to watch.
Sapphire did a really great English cover of "Shiki No Uta". Which reminds me that she is also the vocalist for the OP for *Epithet Erased* which may well be the most indie show I've ever seen. The music for it is top tier though, I highly recommend the OP and both endings.

Forgot Gundam wing OP 2
Yeah Code Geass isn't the best for mech battles. If you want good space battles, it's either Gundam (any of them) or Macross. After that comes the balls to the walls series like Dai Gao Gar, Gurren Lagaan, Mazinger Z and Voltron.
good to check sites like myanimelist to see how many seasons and how many OPs and EDs each series has before assuming. YT can have a lot of missing stuff.
it would be good to check places like myanimelist (MAL) to see how many seasons and OPs and EDs each anime have before recording.

I've been asking for the Gundam opening reactions since he started doing anime opening on this channel, we need all of them
Samurai Champloo = Samurai Edo Period theme + Hip Hop music
Cowboy Bebop = Noir Space Western theme + Jazz music
Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are both directed by Shinichiro Watanabe so they usually go hand in hand.

I literally made it only for you! I'm annoyed it doesn't have a just 1 view, because it was just for you! ❤
@@GOTGames oh, don't worry, I don't mind sharing it with the folks around here.😄
To me, Samurai Champloo was/is/will be one of the coolest anime of all time
Coolest anime for me 😎
The opening definitely feels like that word 100%
It is, in fact, very kewl.
Wait.... where is all the other Gundam Wing Opening and ending?
And Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Movie theme song and OST
;_:
White Reflection, Rhythm Emotion, and Code Name Heero Yuy must be reacted to.
We got robbed ;-;
Yeah i was kinda shocked that atleast White Reflection and Rhythm Emotion weren't also here.
Oh well he can just do another video with those.
👀
Gundam Wing Endless Waltz, movie and song for Christmas
I recommend 1. (2008) Macross Frontier for a mech series! (Macross franchise has been a long time rival to the gundam franchise since the 80s)
other mech recommendations:
2. (1994) Magic Knight Rayearth
3. (1996) Tenkuu no Escaflowne (The Vision of Escaflowne)
4. (1996) Kidou Senkan Nadesico (Martian Successor Nadesico)
5. (1999) Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure
6. (2000) Vandread
7. (2002) Gundam SEED /SEED Destiny
8. (2003) Godannar
9. (2004) Fafner
10. (2004) Kannazuki no Miko
11. (2005) Aquarion
12. (2009) Asura Cryin'
13. (2013) Suisei no Gargantia (Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet)
14. (2013) Valvrave
15. (2014) Aldnoah.Zero
16. (2014) Cross Ange
etc..
Nujabes is the grandfather of the lo-fi hip hop genre, right next to J Dilla. RIP.
His albums "Departure" and "Impression" are for the Samurai Champloo OST.
Cowboy Bebop & Samurai Champloo are a big part of why I love anime.
I want you to react to "Orb: on the movements of the earth"s OP&ED. It is my favourite OP&ED of this season's anime😊
Omg yess I keep waiting for his reaction!
Yes !
It gets recommended a lot! Gonna have to check it out 💯
For Gundam Wing, you should also listen to the songs from the Endless Waltz OVA/Movie.
Watch Gunbuster! It's the first Gainax mecha (and possibly anime) and it's only 6 episodes.
Edit: It's actually Hideaki Anno's directorial debut. Basically Evangelion's older sister
@@Ash_Wen-li oooh! that does sound interesting, thank you for the recommendation! I'll definitely check this one out.
Gundam wing is a good place to start. It isn't the 1st gundam, but does have a deep story.
It was my first Gundam :) Show that got me into anime. Didn't know what the hell they were talking about (I was 8 y.o at the time.) but the robots were cool
🤔
Key information about Gundam as a franchise. The stories strive to bring a focus on the human cost of war. Showing what both sides are fighting for, how the civilians who are forced to choose sides feel, that sort of thing.
Here are my 10 recommendations for your next OP & ED reactions:
1. (2004) Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha OP & ED (with 5 series, 4 movies and 2 games; OPs & some movie EDs sung by that era's anisong queen: Mizuki Nana)
2. (2000) Vandread OP & ED (fire retro 90s/00s songs)(check out the EDs for cheekiness)
3. (2002) Kiddy Grade OP & ED
4. (2004) Fafner OP & ED
5. (2004) Mai Hime OP & ED
6. (2005) Aquarion OP & ED
7. (2005) Ichigo 100% OP & ED
8. (2005) Tsubasa Chronicle OP & ED
9. (2004) Kannazuki no Miko OP & ED
10. (2008) Macross Frontier ED & insert songs (esp the EDs like "Diamond Crevasse", "Northern Cross" & "Ao no Ether"; insert "Yousei")
+ (2002) Gundam SEED / SEED Destiny OPs & EDs for next Gundam music
Seeking Kiddy Grade reminded me; that anime had an absolute banger of a song that got used in the promo material, but wasn't used in the show or OST. I remember it from an ADV VHS tape promo, this song is why is why I watched that anime to begin with, and it took me ages to track it down, it's called "If I" by a band named LIttle Viking. ua-cam.com/video/lHgcRZaK1bQ/v-deo.html
11: Every Tales series opening. Yes, even the anime ones.
You should do a reaction to ALL Gundam openings
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Opening 1, 2,3,4
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny Opening 1&2 and 3 4
Please React to cause you haven't heard it
If you want a mecha anime than watch Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed, Gundam 00 or Gundam Iron blooded orphans.
If you watched Gundam Wing as a kid when it first aired, congratulations! You had the coolest childhood in your life.😎🫵
You should watch Macross Frontier, its a very good mecha anime, there are better ones but Macross have the best mecha design in my opinion
of course he missed Gundam Wing's second op Rhythm Emotion lol
well if u wanna react to some mecha anime here's a few reccomend Rahxephon(1 op), Burst Angel(1 Op), ssss gridman(1 op), ssss dynazenon(1 op), Fafner dead aggressor(admittedly this one's just wishful thinking as it'll be tricky to find. there's 5 openings, but the last season beyond's require going somewhere like bilibili to find)
Giant Robots and Love is what sums up Macross. Save the universe through song.
Pls react to air gear openings
very agree with this, he should definitely react to it
👀👀
"Battlecry" would retroactively be in the "lo-fi hip-hop" genre, being that the song's artist is the source of what we now know as lo-fi hip-hop.
For my Mecha Anime recommendations:
1. Mobile Suit Gundam 00
2. Mobile Suit Gundam Witch from Mercury
3. Gurren Lagann Tengen Topa
4. SSSS Gridman
5. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans
6. Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, SEED Destiny and Freedom
7. Visions of Escaflowne
Great list, but I'd also add Mobile Fighter G Gundam for that WTF factor, too. 😂
He already reacted to number 2 and number 3
My personal favorite mech of all time is Chamber from *Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet*. He is the best and I will absolutely fight anyone who says otherwise. It's not a classic rock'em sock'em mecha anime though, so probably not a good intro to the genre for a newcomer. EDIT to add: We are overdue for some Vision of Escaflowne though. Bring on the flying teeth!
The 0079/Zeta/ZZ trilogy is peak but it is an intimidating amount of anime to jump into and Zeta in particular is an extremely dense show.
If you want more modern, try either gundam seed and its sequel gundam seed destiny, or gundam 00 which also has 2 seasons and a movie
you might Enjoy Fafner in the Azure since its like the OG attack of titan with Mechs in a sense Robots fighting monsters end of humanity deal the movie Fafner Right of Left is a great start to the tv show , you may also enjoy Heroic Age , and also Evangelion lol
Somebody mentioned Fafner? Yes please, I love that show. The first opening is still one of my all time favorites.
The producer of both the opening and ending of Samurai Champloo is called Nujabes and he also made the whole soundtrack for the anime, he’s a very underrated japanese producer and I would really love your reactions to songs like Feather, Lady Brown, Arurian Dance or Luv(sic) pt.2 i think he is one of the best producers out there and I would really appreciate it if you gave it a shot :)
the father of Lo-fi, RIP Nujabes.
@@ondraaaa Nujabes didn't make the soundtrack all alone, actually. There were a couple of other artists involved as well whose names I unfortunately can't remember rn
Same goes for the ending
Recommendation: Both videos are on youtube
1. Slam Dunk all openings and endings (Most legendary sports series in Japan)
The opening was composed by an artist called Nujabes, who's since passed away
I'd really love it if you reacted to Space Dandy opening and ending at some point, since the same director who worked on Champloo (and Cowboy Bebop!) was involved in that show too
Luke, asking about why things happen in Gundam Wing is just going to get you a "it's complicated" answer a lot of the time, remember this is a 29 year old anime, god it made me feel old saying that, the OPs are sung by Two Mix a techno J-pop duo, you should react to the second OP and Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz OP too.
If you're looking for a mecha anime you should start with a classic like Gunbuster, it's more of a turning point for anime in general starting or reinventing a lot of anime tropes that still stand today and being the blueprint for Neon Genesis Evangelion.
tengen toppa gurren lagann its good too
I think it felt familiar to you as you reacted to a tiny excerpt from a "top anime openings" video.
True 💯
My recommended list of anime opening themes for you! Ten down, more to go!

Im not into mecha that much, but I have seen one of a few, like sidonia no kishi and aldnoa zero on top of my head.
Gundam wing was very popular in my childhood but i didn't get to see it, i love the character designs though. All of their faces look so angy lol
If you're a fan of mechas Gundam has a lot to offer and to understand the franchise you can check:
Gundam Origin
Gundam Thunderbolt
Gundam Unicorn
And for space battles:
Space Battleship Yamato 2199
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (the old one or the remake)
Heroic Age
Macross, which is a mix of both with idols and music while the whole universe/earth is going to shit.
Or you can start watching Aldnoah Zero Anime cause you reaction the Opening Ages ago
"Love isn't what I think of when i see massive robots blowing up planets"
Watch the original Gundam and you'll understand
Macross: ?
@@fantastiCkiLler92 You're right, that's a better example. I always forget they're mechs cause they also turn into planes.
When it comes to Gundam, there are a few starting points I recommend:
-Gundam 00
-Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans
-Gundam movie trilogy that recaps the first ever Gundam series from 1979.
I watched the OG series last year. Imo it's better than the movies. The pacing of the movies is too fast and cuts a lot of side character stuff
@@tsubasahaneno Teeaboo did a MSG, Zeta and ZZ Gundam reaction. It's pretty good. But hell of a lot of content
Day x of asking the boi to react to the Tales series openings. They're like, really good, I swear.
I feel like you’ve reacted to Samurai Champloo as well 😂 But I guess not. The opening is such a vibe. The entire show is like that too-weird but in a good way. I hope you check it out one day 😁
Essential mecha i recommend:
1. Gurren Lagann (will scratch your itch)
2. Gunbuster (as well but in 6 episodes)
3. Original Mobile Suit Gundam (No better place to start the franchise)
@@micheal5973 I watched it last year. You can definitely see its age but I'd still say its aged incredibly well
Gundam Wing is like Pacific Rim meets Twilight and when I say Twilight I meant a better written heroin whose smart and tough and when I say "smart and tough" I didn't mean "girl boss" she doesn't subvert the boys.
"Champloo" means "mixed up" in Okinawan.😊
The opening theme is "Battlecry" by Nujabes feat. Shing02. Nujabes was a Japanese DJ and HipHop producer, but passed away in 2010.😢
Gundam 00 opening, worth to check out
and personally think this is the best Gundam spin-off series, and even the best mecha series
00 is I think the best starting point, if one want to get into Gundam. If you like 00, then you are set to be more or less at least interested in all other timelines
best mecha anime:
(not ranked, just listed)
1. The Big O
2. Mobile Suit Gundam Wing
3. Code Geass
4. Full Metal Panic
5. Escaflowne
6. Eureka 7
7. Evangelion
8. Burst Angel
9. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
No Mobile Suit Gundam, Zeta Gundam or Gunbuster?
If you want to try getting into Gundam just try any of the titles that aren't a part of the "main timeline" since they're completely stand alone and can be watched however you want.
Some of the popular titles are:
Gundam A Witch from Mercury (which is the most recent entry)
Gundam 00 (my personal favorite)
Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans (the next newest one iirc)
Gundam Seed (which I think just got a full remaster)
Gundam Wing (the ones from this video)
People get really intimidated trying to start Gundam but you can basically jump in anywhere.
You have to check out all of the Gundams openings, you're missing so much banger music, it's about the time!
09:00 Honestly that's my favorite type of music, findind harmony in the midle of chaos 😂I get such a vibe of it in the collaby between Revo and Yuki Kajiura in the live version of "Dream Port" but it's different vocals till everything just click. Actually a lot of Yuki Kajiura live performances caries this caracteristic I higly recommend "Key of the Twilight" studio recording with JOELLE.
Another example of a chaotic song but they find harmony in some bits is "Prima Dona" from the Phantom of Opera.
I’m a bit surprised at how many people aren’t actually bringing up he react to Gurren Lagann?!! Giant robots, space battles, cheesy campy inspiration and love stuff?! Cmon now!! GURREN LAGANN!!
Gundam Wing had an AMAZING music set, the openings are amazing!
It's Just Love is the title of the first Gundam Wing ending.
3:10 "Is that a frog?"
The basis for the frog art touch is a part of the design of the traditional Japanese card game "Hanafuda," which depicts a frog trying to jump onto a willow tree together with Ono no Michikaze, one of the three most prominent figures in the history of calligraphy who was active around the 10th century.
Its definetly one you dont forget even if you dont jive with it
Also gundam is very talky and depending on the series very politics forward. If you are looking for a entry point season 1 of iron blooded orphans is good. If you want a bananas gundam series G gundam is a great time
Yeah I'm pretty sure it was either in a quiz or compilation video at some point.
These are some great classics. Samurai Champloo's unusual sounds are some peoples favorite songs ever to this day. Gundam Wing was the show that brought Gundam to the US(and the rest of the English-speaking world) for the first time in a big way.
Some recommendations: First you are sleeping on rinne reactions top 100 anime endings, top 100 anime OSTs, and TOp 100 anime songes modeled the same way he did the opening video. you gotta get to them soon
and also:
continuing the ask: Day 285 Attempt 102 asking for Dot Hack Sign Openings and Endings/ Dot Hack Franchise reactions (intertwined series of Anime and Games) ot "The World" for OSTs
You definitely got to check them out.
wing had another opening and ending, also I'm pretty sure you can find a gundam op playlist on youtube and break it into two or three vids.
Samurai champool is a legendary series . One of the OG's from Adult swim from cartoon network , that many 30 year old anime fans watched back in the day . Its roughly 30 episodes amazing series 🤌
If you ever decide to watch this series or cowboy bebop. You absolutely need to watch it in the dub . There is no other way to watch it the voice actors are peak
gundam wing - that brings back memories from decades ago
though I defenitely prefer our german versions of the OP and ED we got on TV one of the first songs that got stuck in my head as a kid...
and with the german lyrics the scenes make much sense :P
most gundam shows are around some for of concept of war/human divide
iirc gunadam wing was about...
...imperialism with earth royalty vs space colonies

You should watch Samurai Champloo. It's a good time all around.
PS SC has a alt ending on the last episode thats very chill.
If you're willing to watch some dated CGI, Vandread is a fun, mindless mech anime.
My personal recommendation based on what I know of the shows you've watched and liked so far, is to try watching Gundam Seed to start for the following reasons:
- It's story is roughly follows many of the same beats as the original, but with newer animation.
- It is set in it's own continuity, so you don't need to watch or know anything before seeing it,
- It has a single sequel series, Gundam Seed Destiny that recently had a new movie followup come out for it just this year, Gundam Seed Freedom
- For people who are critical of the show, their biggest complaint about the main character is similar to people's complaints about Kirito from SAO, so I think it may similarly not bother you.
FIRST!!! GUNDAM!!!!
Samurai Champloo, such a good anime and the music is from Nujabes, always a good vibe. Nujabes was/is still the king of lofie music. ☺
Since you asked for another anime Opening and Ending recomendation. Listen to Air Gear opening and Ending then. :)
Gundam Wing has two more openings: Rhythm Emotion and White Reflection. Onegai shimasu
I am not a mech fan personally but my literal first two anime was Gundam wing and escaflowne. They still hold a special place in my heart 🖤
Ah, some of my childhood watching Toonami after I got home from school right here. Great stuff!
Another mech anime openings that I would recommend is Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, Combattler V and King Gainer. Also Gaogaigar.
If you ever hear something is animated "on 1s", "on 2s" or 3s/4s/6s/8s/12s
those are divisors of 24 (the common fps)
meaning that every X frames are a "key" frame, all the rest being "inbetween" frames.
gundam w is my first gundam
Pretty please react to the Gundam Wing episodes!!!
OMG I grew up with Gundam Wing!! Thank you for the nostalgic vibes and I love Gundam Wing!!
11:12 the robots arent really called gundam, well technically it is but its the frenchise that is called gundam and there is many differnt gundam series taking place in different universe/continuity where war is engage using giant armored robotic suits called mobile suits piloted by a human within a cockpit located around the abdominal or chest area and in each series the term ‘gundam’ can mean different things like in gundam seed it was an acronym for an operating system, in gundam IBO (iron blooded orphans) it referred to the special 72 mechanical frames a mobile suit be built using as the base and gave it a special feature and in gundam wing the gundams meant for the 5 mobile suits built using a special gundamium alloy by 5 different scientist that all had their designs derived from a singular prototype design that was originally developed together by those scientist before splitting up
12:47 if you wanna start a new mech anime i recommend gundam 00 or gundam IBO
Gurren Lagann is great if you want a mecha anime
Recommendations of older anime.
1. Read or Die the movie and R.O.D. the tv I'm a big "paper" fan btw (Character not product, lol)
2. Zatch/Gash Bell Which btw the author has a zatch bell 2 manga ongoing currently. Hoping that gets animated down the line.
Love the stories, and love the op/eds!
3:33 "What do you call this music?"
In Japan, it was called "jazz hip-hop." Influenced by American bands such as TRIBE CALLED QUEST, it became popular in the dance scene of the 2000s. 😊

The opening of samurai champloo sounds like early 90's underground hiphop.
