- We're revisiting the absolute classic that is Star Wars - Episode I: Jedi Power Battles on the PS1. Even if you don't get very far (up to level 3 as a kid..) you're still having a great time slashing and dicing battle droids like no tomorrow. Until you die, and then decide to do it all over again.

Plo Koon was the reason for me realizing I really wanted to have an Orange Saber
This game is the reason I’m mad as hell he doesn’t have an orange saber in the show. He should’ve had it.

Spent hours on this game as a kid and I remember being Obi wan and my friend being Mace windu and going through continuously . Such fun times

Me and my mate of 28 years are revisiting this game, trying to pay homage to our childhood selves who thought the coop was eternally impossible.
We're currently on Coruscant, me as Qui Gon, him as Obi Wan. We will complete this before the year is out!
Great game, this and episode 1 racer are classics!
one of the gretaest co-op games as a child, me and my mate bacame masters at it and new every secret power up but still came up short against dart maul then boot it back up from the beginning, the frustration. very tempted to see i can beat him now haha
My Buddy and I beat Darth Maul on the very first run and we LOST OUR MINDS! We were running around the house like we had just won the Super Bowl. Mind you this was after an entire day of trying to finally beat Dooku.
People have no idea how fantastic this game was. The challenged between different enemies. Rescue mission, platform agility skills in different maps and landscapes. Brilliant game overall. I would play it again in heartbeat. Amazing memories for me and my brother in co-op mode. Thank you to the developers for this masterpiece

Congrats. I still remember beating the 100 waves as obi wan. I tried to beat the damn level SOOO many times as Mace and Qui gon but couldn't and one day while sick i beat the damn level as obi wan.. Only to see it just boot me back to the main menu.... But I fucking beat it...
@@evil-g-ferret6531 hahahah thats funny. Yeah i still havnt beat the 100 guys i tried like 5 times a few weeks ago but only made it about half way. It takes a lot of patience for sure. Your a beast for beating it!

Loved this game, spent hours in solo or co-op. I never managed to beat it Darth Maul using Plo Koon, but everything else was doable for me with a bit a practice. Very good memories.
Co-op was where it was at! Amazing
try putting force power so you can get lightning and then switch between blocking and combo of square square cross, otherwise full hp, thats how I beated him as Plo Koon

Yeah maul as plo koon was easily the toughest of the main characters. Mace windu was stupidly easy though by comparison.
I loved playing this game when I was a kid. It was hard, but at least it prepared me to Dark Souls 😂
I remember qui gon was my favorite because of the green saber but i hated how slow his moves felt compared to obi wan and mace

I LOVED this game! I remember beating it when I was 11, I was so stoked. Unfortunately, without a ps1, or any other old system, I haven't been able to play it since the early 2000s
I love this game. It's amazing. The music, the enemies, the combo structure, the difficulty and the bosses were fun.
My god I played this game as a kid, I almost forgot about it, I sure didn't remember its name, I was sure this was just "The Phantom Menace" up until I recently saw a video of an actual "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" videogame I never played and realized they were two different things. I mostly played this with a friend of mine back then and as a 2 players game it was fun, even though it was hard and it took us LOT of time to finish. We died hundreds of time against Darth Maul. And in the speeder bikes bit. Hated those. Playing it alone was much worse and much more rage inducing. I'm not sure I've ever beat Maul by myself either. But I still remember it with a smile on my face, it was probably the first Star Wars game I've ever played.

This game used to drive me nuts because of the difficulty i finished it almost 20 years later by raising my stick sensitivity and putting auto run on 😎
As a kid I completed it with a friend and my little brother, with two players it's easier.
I thought that The Phantom Menace game was better. Difficulty was maybe a touch easier on that game but I played countless hours on it as opposed to this game. Especially once I discovered the cheat code to allow you to start on whichever level you wanted.
I spent whole summer playing this when I first got it. One of the best games ever.
Just HOW difficult this game is cannot be understated... My brother and I could never make it through the 2nd level over all the years we on/off played this (and we only ever made it as far as the 2nd level ONCE)! That droid boss battle at the end of the first level was wayyyy too much that early on. It's also worth noting that if you ran out of the - already very restricting - lives, you had to start from the very beginning...
The second level was nuts. I was stuck on it for years. Beating it was an amazing feeling. Didn’t beat the full game until I was nearly a teenager though
I had this game when I was younger but I played it on ps2 so I couldn’t save so I remember playing the first mission over and over again, same thing with the PS1 Phantom menace game lol

I absolutely loved this game yes it was difficult but brilliant. I was born in 94 and was able to make it through the game as a kid
Jedi Power Battles was insanely ahead of it's time. Played for a good 5+ years straight with bro, always trying to get through levels without any damage, it's largely possible except for a few bits here and there. The platforming jumps are the hardest thing, lots of people make the mistake of double jumping straight away, the trick is to jump, reposition then hit the double, it lets you correct the angles.
When I unlocked Darth Maul I was utterly disappointed. I really wanted to control him with the double lightsaber.

4:57 I loved this game. When I was a kid we had a PlayStation but no memory cards so I couldn’t save the game.
I played it until at one point I was able to beat the whole game in a single sitting over several hours on a hot summer day in the valley.
I think my biggest criticism was that if you do unlock earth maul and play as him you don’t gain any health or force as you pass levels so you end up with a tiny bar of both compared to any normal character who had completed the game

The tank segment in level 3 or 4 is one of my favorite vehicles ever, P1 gets a wide tank that can run over and blast things with the turret, P2 gets bouncing machine guns. It's a good trade.
Played this with my best pal from school for hours in coop.
Imagine how well a game like this would do today.

I remember I was so shit-scared when Darth Maul first appeared.
My all time favorite thing to do was unlocking a simple ability with Plo Koon that let you throw enemies around the same way some enemies did it. Man I had the best time just sending droids flying into the abyss, good times

Great retrospective! Just finished it now after never being able to as a kid and i can say its a lot of fun, although very unfair and difficult at times.
after growing up with the PS1 version, I tried the dreamcast version a few months ago and it was MUCH easier to beat cause the platforming was much better to deal with
I usually used Mace Windu, for his ability where he ducks and his lightsaber shields him while slicing enemies. Plo Koon was cool too.
I remember the Corscant level being the hardest, but the entire game is hard.
Ah. My lost romance. I purchased a copy of this when it released from Software Etc. at my local mall. Proceeded to the Aladdin's Castle near by and got down on some Sniper Scope. Had the game laying on the machine and some a-hole stole it right from under me whilst I was doming folks. I never got to play the game even a single time. And I still think about it to this day....

Bunch of lightweights! I beat this game with all 5 characters as a kid. My nephews loved this game too. It was unfair and unforgiving at times, especially that neverending Coruscant level, but I enjoyed it.

@@PlayStationMemories Lol probably more the fact that I sunk so many hours into this game. This game and the Tony Hawk pro skater games were my jam. Anything else, especially first person shooters, I am insanely bad at.

I remember finishing the game 3 times as kid and 1 time now when I got it running on my PC, God I love this game even tho its sometimes buggy and stupid
Loved the game when i was a kid, it was hard...but not THAT hard once you get more powers and manage to improve the health and force meters a couple of times, there were even a lot of combos to unlock. I remember finishing it with all the characters (yeah...Amidala and Panaka where a pain) when i was like 12...man, now i want to play it again

Never did get a chance to beat Maul at the end, that level at Coruscant was hard as hell too
I did beat the game with EVERY character except master Plo, his slow movement made it difficult to best Maul, and my 7 year old brain thought "max combos" instead of "do a one-two until the level is done"

I love Jedi Power Battles! I am currently on a replay. I still have the secrets and techniques down after more than six years without playing.
I think the thing that bugs me most about the game is that; the most fun unlockable level is "Droidekas," but the only way to unlock it is to beat Level 10 with Plo Koon. Difficulty in this game wasn't defined by which Mode you played in, but rather the character you played as. Qui Gon Jinn is the easiest (but weakest) character. Plo Koon is the hardest (and seemly second-weakest) character. I know my stuff when it comes to this game, and I struggle IMMENSELY playing the last level with Plo Koon. But what an awesome challenge!
Love the Dreamcast version, much more polished.
Its a very hard game, like all lucas-star wars games, and also one with of the best graphics of the PSOne era
i still have this game and it rings true... still extremely difficult and thoroughly challenging; however it's still a joy to play and forever nostalgic. I've only ever used Plo Koon, Qui-Gon, and Mace Windu as they're my favorite starters but Maul definitely is enjoyable to exploit for his Force Abilities 👏👏👏 Still such an amazingly challenging game!!!!

I so wish I didn't suck so much at this game when I was younger, I never got that far but there was so much later content I didn't realised was coming. Wasn't there a worm thing on Naboo? I was so confused and never got past that, seemed absolutely impossible, I was 6 years old and truly baffled
Definitely one of my favorite games and I beat it a few times as a kid. I would love it if Aspyr touched up the graphics, resolution and then release it on current gen consoles
When I was younger, I played this game and Megaman x4. I thought I was bad playing challenging games like this one. But now I see I was wrong... The game is actually hard to beat. Dying a lot remembered me to Dark Souls.
BUT! The best part of the game is the COOP mode. Ahhh I remember these days when were some games that you can play with friends without internet... Instead of now that is always FIFA or another sports game.

i played this game religiously but sometimes the combos would not respond correctly , i remember playing princess padme fighting darth maul on the beam bridge i shot him off the platform and then i couldnt carry forword because the game required him to still be alive, so glitches and exploits do exist

Loved Plo Koon with his yellow/amber saber. The ONLY players I could beat the game with (including kill Darth Maul at the end) were Obi Wan and Qui Gon, though, because of their fast X + X attack which I just used to mash. Maul was lucky if he could get one hit in back at me. The other 3 were impossible to kill him with, though. PK was too slow for Maul.

What an awesome video for an awesome game! I’ve been playing this in Co-Op mode with my best friend since we were kids, even now in our adult age, and it’s always been a guaranteed blast! When the pandemic hit, I found myself with too much time on my hands and decided I would go back to basics and play this… And then I discovered speedruns. If you guys are interested, I currently hold the speedrun record for this game on PlayStation and you can watch it on my channel (which is basically the only video I have there) and enjoy an anger-free run with a happy ending! 😂 May the Force be with all of you!

Adi gallia was the best to use in this game because her special was like a sheild that made her invincible and would deflect all blaster shots.....was easy to beat the game while using her
I was stuck on Level 6 for so long I’d get frustrated then stop playing but finally like a year ago I passed it & I stg I was so happy 💀 ironically level 7, 8, & 9 were easy lol but gets hard again at level 10. The maze was confusing at times but eventually I beat it as Mace Windu. Not sure if I wanna try to beat it again with all of the other characters.
Great game. Hard game. Beat it on 2 player mode. I was 21 and kid brother 12. No cheats. Never played it again.
Aside from the final battle the game isn't really hard when you know how to move, do basic combos and block. It isn't a smashing button beat-them-up, you need to have a plan before engaging the enemy. Movement and blocking are essential for defeating the enemies. However, the final battle with Maul is very hard, unless you have the correct combos that can penetrate his defenses he's literally invincible.
Well apparently the game was hard because it was originally an arcade game.
Me and my cousin found a cheat to unlock all levels immediately so we went straight to the last boss Darth Maul ......... We didn't realise until after we selected the level that every character was still level 1.
It ended very quickly

There they are grt them lol I really loved the corusant level the more difficult a game is the fun i believe but yes some of the druids and enemies are a bit overpowered but still thrilling to fight them. Darth Maul is by far the hardest boss in any star wars games.
Well it's my favorite star wars game and I got a walkthrough on my channel from ps1 and Dreamcast. For me it's easy game on Jedi mode :)
Seriously F being a star wars fan as a kid with a ps1. I owned both Jedi power battles and the main move game and never finished either. I don't think I ever finished the 3rd level and made it into the palace. Everything about the visuals and sound was amazing but the difficulty even on "easy" was just too much

I hate that game because I could play it alone only, because my stupid friends coudnt get used to it, the game aws freaking hard for all of my dudes....
Its really not THAT hard in coop... I wish they would remake it tho cuz the concept was the best out of literally any star wars game ever. This and dynasty warriors kept me n my friends going all summer once
