I am glad that I can look into what you're doing. Every new video that comes up, I feel that I travel forward in time to help you all out. I look forward to more like this one and others, I love you, Laura
@@LauraFarms that explains even more why you had turned out to be so smart and talented! Not many can get that good knowledge from public schools anymore (they are all dumbed down).
Never watched your videos before, and have little reason to watch farming videos, but got to tell you that the handstand in the thumbnail got my attention! haha
Extremely plane, in your country it is soo easy seeding, here in Gran Canaria it is very dificult, a lot of mountains in e little island. Today my family just cut the wheat , imposible with big tractore, all handwork any machine.
I got interested on knowing how you harvest only because you are on the videos. You are sooo Charismatic that makes me want to watch every video you make 🤗
Have you ever weighed the possibility of going Organic Farming. Another informative and interesting video of farm life in Nebraska. I have relatives in the N/W part of Nebraska that do cattle and my dad helps out even at 87 now, except this year he is doing the paper work no more working directly with the cows. I believe at one time he also worked on a farm as well in Nebraska, and we actually lived in Valentine many years ago. I still consider myself a country boy at heart. I think that's why your video are so appealing.
Laura, thank you for your videos. Love your presentation, your explanation of processes & the way you treat your subscribers. Great to see women roll up their sleeves & not worry bout getting dirty. You are a great example to young women everywhere. Please continue producing your videos. They enlighten a lot of people as to what it takes to run a farm. God bless you and the family & I pray you all stay safe. P.S. Big shout out coming to you from San Antonio Texas...
A beautiful day in the neighborhood with the beautiful Laura! What could be better? Grant is getting far more chatty about what he's doing (which is good!).
He's becoming more video confident. I don't blame anyone for being camera shy. I could make videos but I doubt that many would ever be interested. It takes a natural talent and appeal to be an entertainer I think? Laura definitely has the natural talent and appeal alright!
I've been following your channel for a long time. And I've seen you driving big machines in the harvest, for the silage. But today the squirrel was a beautiful attraction. I'm from Brazil, and passionate about tractors, and agro. A hug.
I've been washing my vehicles and many other things with common dish soap of all sorts of brands for decades. It works great because it's designed to cut grease and generally cleans very well.
Thanks for showing the chemical setup for your sprayer. Always wonder about what kind of recipe was needed for the plants. Love seeing how Grant was working to make the water sprayer move. I see them now and again here in Western Kentucky, but I have never seen them up close to see how they run.
From the DiFlexx label: All mixers, loaders, and applicators and other handlers must wear:- Long-sleeved shirt and long pants;- Chemical-resistant gloves (except for pilots);- Shoes plus socks.See Engineering Controls Statement for additional requirements. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and maintaining PPE. If no such instructions for washables exist, use detergent and hot water. Keep and wash PPE separately from other laundry. So except for the long sleeved shirt you handled the DiFlexx in the proper way. Being a farmer myself, it is a farmers dilemma when working different jobs, change into the right gear when working with chemicals. Especially when respiratory and full body protection is needed for the more toxic ones like insecticides. But looking at how quick you can change clothes that is no problem for you ;-)
I really look forward to and enjoy all of your videos. Most people don't realize what is all involved in running a operation of your scale. Thank you for all you do, you make it fun to watch. And very educational. Keep up the good work 👍
Just a FYI on the 5 ton surplus truck it is imperative for safety that anytime you back it up that you drive it FORWARD the same distance in fgirst gear to release the built up torque to the power train!!! Never back it into a work bay to do power train repairs UNLESS you jack up a front wheel to relieve the stored torque. Also the front wheels will not engage their pulling power until the rears slip as there is a sprage gear that causes them to engage the power as needed. It was a terrible system and was hard to live with. As soon as the front caute up to the rears it instantly disengaged the front wheels. We used to call it a bucking bronco. I was a powertrian repairman gas or diesel track or wheel in the Viet Nam war. More later if this helps.
Laura, you & Grant are two well reared kids, smart, educated, intelligent, & well spoken. You both have a great work ethic. But, it's hard to live on a farm & be lazy too. A Texas tip of the hat to you both.
When I was a kid growing up in rural Oklahoma. We had tons of toads at night eating bugs. Look across the pastor and see hundreds of lightning bugs flying everywhere. You would hear frogs in every pond. Wake up in the morning the porch would be covered with June bugs. Also would hear crickets all night long. I have not seen a toad in years. Lightning and June bugs are rare. It's sad farmer's believed the lies that these chemicals are safe. Many bugs and things that eat bugs are gone and most of us will die of some form of cancer.... Thanks Monsanto......
Toss forklifts get stuck in gravel very easily….. I had to use a bobcat to get one unstuck just like that on a data center I was working on a few years back…….
I enjoy your videos because I grew up on a farm in the 1960's. You farm is a lot different than mine .My Dad farmed only 160 acres, and 80 acres of my grandparents farm. I first started driving the tractor when I was 13 years old. When I graduated from school I went to a trade school in Des Moines. When I came home for the week-end after harvest was done. I got bach home at 7:40 and was on the tractor and disc doing corn stalks. I usually stayed on until mid night. I do miss farming.
im glad you are respectable and have standards unlike "female farmer rancher'' which is craving attention and does the only fans but just puts that out there like no big deal... i think you hold a spectacular image....coming from a 30 y/o male from Indiana. i love the content
You guys have a sweet set up, and I love the way you vlog it, I really hope you guys have been getting the rain we have up here in So Dak the last few weeks!
Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I always wondered what farming was like on the scale your family does. I know its hard long hours but anything worth doing, takes effort.
I once worked on a farm with two plots side by side. Once a month we would rotate all the wheels of the pivot and drag it then return the wheels. Sketch to watch but an easy day comparatively.
To be a farmer these days and make a profit it takes special people. I believe one of the keys to them being special is they have to love to work and get satisfaction from working. Myself and many of my friends were from working class families that also have that work ethic although we are not farmers. It is amazing how far a great work ethic can take you in this life even if your education is lacking or your resources are limited, working hard can help you overcome those challenges. Keep it up Laura & Grant!
You're right, explanation is a really great way of clarifying what you know. (Also sometimes it puts a thought in the back of your mind about needing to find out something extra.)
Farm and Ranch work is all about fixing things over and over that either wear out or just break down. When everything is working right its great but it will eventually break down or wear out. So a lot of your time is going towards repairs and maintenance. Proper care and maintenance will pay for itself in the long run. Yes making videos is a lot of work and time consuming in the long run. Use to do it for a Great Dane raiser. But that is what caused people to buy his dogs. Facebook was excellent and UA-cam too. Last count before he died was like 500 videos on UA-cam. His customers watched all his videos faithfully. He used live birthing videos at that time and that was when his customers bought the dogs when they seen them puppies for the first time in this world.
And the Private Applicators Licence is intensive and take books study, class instructions which includes computing spray rates, etc. It's an involved license. She also has to take CEUs (Continuing Education Units) to keep her license current. In my case Texas keeps track of everyone. So now she can buy chemicals without dad, which is a big deal.
I stopped the video at the 4 minute mark to implore you to keep the sun off that beautiful skin. You're young now, but over time it will turn your skin to leather, and worse, you'll be fighting melanoma. I'll wager your parents, and/ or grandparents can vouch for me on that. There are a LOT of dangers to beware of in farming, but sun exposure is often overlooked. We could learn a few things about that from our friends south of the border.
A good farmer makes farming look effortless. You, Grant and your dad show us what it takes to be a good farmer. And yes, you do make it look effortless. Love you guys!
As long as the temperatures are not freezing put three drops of Dawn in a gallon of water and it makes a great windshield washer fluid. And it doesn't coast $2.00 a gallon
