@@acemobile9806 its so crazy. Agriculture is evil and people who eat cows are evil but if everyone in the world turned vegan all you would see is Agriculture land and it still wouldn't be enough to sustain the US. Not to mention we would have nothing to trade for export cause we would need all the grains and vegetables and stuff so prices of good we trade for will also ski rocket along with food prices. Vegans need to stop pushing that eating meat is so evil cause they won't like a world where everyone is vegan. So stfu and let me eat me lol. Dirty libs

I'm an "over the road" general freight trucker, which means I get to drive all over this beautiful Country of ours.
I have driven day after day for many years past similar operations when in Dairy country and also in corn country like you and Grant farm.
I'm from a more urban and suburban type community so I'm always fascinated just to drive through these type of places and attempt to imagine what I can't see at high speed glance, such as how the day to day operations and the lives of these people and the time and tasks that they perform on a daily basis.
Thank you for taking the time to perform these highly detailed and informative tours, and providing us "average Joe" type folks like myself an opportunity to see how it all works.

For years I hauled feed to small and huge farms like this for Kalmbach Feeds Inc. The first time I saw one of these massive carousel milking operations I was in awe. The yummy feed that we delivered made them happy cows while they rode the wheel.😁
We also delivered to totally automated milk barns that had "Robot" milkers that read the cow's tags to let them in if they haven't been milked...a really cool process and technology.
When I was a kid I thought milking 80 head twice a day was something...things sure change.

I use to deliver antifreeze, and oil at this farm for Williams Lubricants! When you were standing in front of the digester building. I was like. Hey! That is where I parked my truck when I made my deliveries. It was really cool getting a tour of what all goes on there. Thank you

To build that set-up from scratch for everything would be about $90 million dollars. Starting with a flat piece of ground.

Not too bad for around 2 million in milk and 3.6 million in electric sales a year based on what they said in the video!

Rock pickers, we used to hire college kids and go out in our fields and pick up just the 2 hand rocks that came to the surface as the ground froze and thawed, we'd spread out 8 people wide behind a dump truck and pick until it was full, now we use those giant rollers that you walked past to punch them back underground as we have all converted to rotary mowers for swathing hay and they need a flat surface (which the roller provides) to swathe across. We have so many rocks that when the big farmers go after the rocks on a plowed and disced field they windrow the rocks and come in with a "rock picker" that picks and then conveyers the rocks into a dump truck, you can actually see the surface of the ground lower 1/2 an inch as all those rocks are taken off the field. Those tracked trackers have less compaction (you can't see where they drove in the crop) and way smoother ride across the field.

Thank you Grant for showing close up of The methane power generators, blow's my mind the number of hrs on them engine's.I wonder how often the oil changed on them? That's gotta be a lot of oil for 24 7 run time.

They are very clean burning engines and the reason why they last so long is the engines are diesels converted too menthane so they are built very heavy too begin with. Menthane isn't as hard on the internal components as diesel fuel is.

The oil is most likely on an analysis program where they take a sample from a port while it runs and send it off to a lab to determine if the oil needs changing. Kind of like AMSOIL does.

Great to see a digester in operation. I spent several years obsessed with anaerobic digesters. I like that they are drying the solids to use for bedding as well. Those carousel milking operations are interesting to watch as well.

I grew up on a small dairy farm in Kentucky. We averaged about 50 cows. This operation is just a tad bigger. LOL We started out milking about 15 cows by hand and separating the cream and milk and sold it to Pet Milk company. Remember the 5-10 gallon milk cans? Then, in 1956, we got the glass pipeline milking system. What an improvement.

We have a digester in rural davenport iowa & recently a scuba diver passed away servicing it. I have no doubt sunnyside farms would never have something like that happen. Dangerous technical work made to look easy by professionals. Easily my favorite video by laura farms. & you even got a pivot/rock reference in!
