He always bowled his heart out. Never short of commitment. I still remember when he announced his retirement in 2003 just before India had to leave for down-under, everybody was asking why so early dear Srinath? And it's very rare thing in Indian cricket.

After playing 67 Tests if he still did not get his due,there must have been something in himself that prevented his recognition.Apart from just hurling he didn't do anything else.Still was given 67 Tests over 12 years.

@@tima7598 Shami has 200+ wickets now too, and he performs very well on Indian pitches as well as overseas tbh. In ODIs Srinath is better than Shami but in Tests Shami is equal to or slightly better than Srinath.

How could a bowler with 236 and 315 wickets in tests and Odis respectively is underrated ? He's one of the best bowlers during his times. Has troubled almost all greatest batsmen. He is not on any social media or digital media and that's why we aren't listening to him. That's it. He's a superstar and will always be
Underrated because many people don't talk about Srinath much. Whenever there is a debate who is India's best bowler ? Most of them would prefer to say kapil dev, Kumble, Zaheer, harbhajan and they would actually give preference to these bowlers over Srinath . But in reality Srinath is best of them all. Even kapil dev gave preference to Manoj prabhakar over Srinath during his initial days. If he had mentor like imran Khan he would have taken 50 % more wickets like what Wasim and Waqar did.

But he ensured Srinath got to play in seaming conditions in English County by getting him to join Glamorgan where Srinath learnt to reverse swing. Besides, unlike other great bowlers from the era such Pollock and Walsh, Srinath never worked on his fitness which too went against him.

Every 90's Kid would love to see him bowling. Srinath and Prasad both were mediocre bowlers but what they had were enthusiasm and passion with which they would bowl and win matches for India. They both were so decent and down to earth person.
Prasad was mediocre, yes. Srinath wasn't. He was a terrific bowler and was even one of the best pacers in the world for a period of time.
I don’t think you could say they were mediocre they were good at what they were doing. The maximising their strengths Prasad was a good seam bowler not pacy and was good at death in one dayers but Srinath was fast and accurate it just happens that both of them didn’t look fearsome

Srinath was a totally different bowler in his later stages of his career after he developed the delivery that left the right handers. He was among the best bowlers in the world during that period.
Prior to that, he was still a good bowler, but somewhat one-dimensional.
How did he develop that delievery
But he did that regularly during NZ series in 2002/3.he had slowed down by then,during 99 when Asian test championships was played Srinath was at peak pace ,I remember during 99 WC in England he was among fastest bowlers alongside shoaib ( who obviously was super quick ),and he clocked around 152-155 during that WC on occasions ..with that pace and that lift from short of length with that deep inswinger he was very lethal ,sad India was an average fielding side and a decent batting side but not totally top notch then .
@@nitinnam according to what I remember when there was a super six match ind vs aussie he touched 94 mph that's what I heard on after aussie finished their batting.

@@madatmenever Yes..He had a quick whiplash action and that helped him generate pace off the pitch as well. He was much quicker off the pitch unlike most bowlers. Now a days Bhumrah balls similarly and is quick off the pitch

These days the stadium capacities are reduced to a great extent and add to it the ticket prices that are sky high
