  • 500 hour service on a Takeuchi TB260. I'm sure I have made a video going over this stuff before but some people like these maintenance videos or some haven't seen them. I try to go over all the things that need to be changed or looked at. It's very similar to the 1000 hour service too. This machine has 1507 hours on it now and I've been extremely pleased it. It's done everything I have needed it too with no issues. I show where all the filters are located and go over checking the slew bearing as well as changing the oil in the drive motors. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #500hourservice

I am looking forward to the day I can have a shop big enough to work on my equipment in. Also look forward to living where it is not hot and humid year round. You have really found versatile uses for your mini excavator. Also great service work, but everything you do seems to be of the highest quality. That machine is dusty not dirty. ALso nice outer shell cannot even see a scratch on it.

Maintenance is the key to longevity. Machines and parts are expensive, filters, oil, and grease aren't so bad. The worst part about slacking on maintenence is the down time when something breaks or wears out because you didn't maintain it properly. Nice job there buddy.

This is part of the work on the ranch I liked! I was not a great operator so left that up to my crew. I went so far as having the foreman chose the new equipment when it came time to replace or get another machine. He was honest and didn’t go for the most expensive out there. He treated my money as if it was his. Best guy I ever employed AND worked with, even when taking my other 30 year career of Law Enforcement into account. Anyways, there could be some really busy weeks as often the machines and/or trucks came due at the same time. Almost all of the dealerships I dealt with allowed me to do the routine services, even though I had my biggest AG equipment on a 2 year rotating lease agreement. In my case, that agreement saved me a lot of money overall vs buying each piece of equipment. Made it easy to wind down the business when I retired and sold out. Everything you did here is what I would have done. I hated blowing air filters out unless we were unable to get a replacement. I had visions of blowing a big hole in the filter somewhere, missing that, and gunking up the fuel injection system. I had few warranty claims, but never had an issue with any of them. We kept a paper log that went with the books and records anyways, so the hours, date time were recorded. My primary providers were John Deere, Ford and International. We just leased form John Deere and purchased the rest. The last tractor I leased was just over $400,000 and with leasing I would just roll over from one machine to the next with a few expenses for the transfer. The money I had in the bank was generally doing as well as or better than the interest rate charged on the lease, so it was a win/win scenario. It’s different for everyone.
Don’t lease just because you can get a better machine, but you have nothing in the bank otherwise because you will become overextended on your credit in no time!!!
I am not telling you how to do things Brandon,,,,,. You have a much more qualified and current credit/finance/investment Manager in you CFO Mrs Elite!!! I’m just talking how it worked for me.

You really need to also keep a handwritten logbook along with copies of the receipts. Phones get lost along with records. When selling a machine, it's great to be able to show a potential buyer proof of the service intervals. We keep handwritten logbooks in our labs, and a steno pad to write down a synopsis of phone calls. When our clients do an onsite audit, these are things they always request to see.

@@eliteearthworksllc for vertical filters you can loosen them then use a gallon freezer bag to put around it as you remove it. All the spill goes into the bag. You can also tap a small punch into the bottom of a filter and let it drain that way assuming it can hit a drain pan without making a mess of anything else. Hey man, I'm been subscribed for a while. I'm in the process of trying to get my first excavator. The tb260 is on the short list, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out. I like the price and transport-ability of the 260. I'm worried If I got one, I may wish I got an "8" ton. It may come down to what I can afford/ finance right now anyhow. By the specs, I should be able to pull around a 18k machine, but we have a lot of hills, and I definitely notice my ~10k skid steer. I'm nervous about pulling something so big.

    • @eliteearthworksllc

That can be a tough one. I love my 260 it’s a very capable machine. It weighs almost 13,000lbs and the 290 weighs around 19,000lbs. If your skid weighs 10k you will definitely notice the difference. I know Tak still has good financing. The 260 will be around $78k while the 290 is closer to $125k

I did not know there was a slew gear inspection Port, although I'm not sure I have one on my machine it's a 2012 tb235 but it always bugs the heck out of me that I can't see that gear. Also it was great to see the main hydraulic oil filter changed I have not done that yet. can you tell me what is the purpose of that large aluminum plug that is right next to the main hydraulic oil filter cover? If your service did not solve your bogging down problem don't forget to clean your radiator and oil cooler they seem to hold a lot of dirt even if you think they're clean my machine once felt a little sluggish and it looked like it was running normal temperature as far as I was concerned but then a friend of mine told me clean the radiator which I did and I was amazed at how much dirt came out and lo and behold the machine ran about half as hot as it already was.

THREE weeks later, Im back for more clues, specifically bleeding the fuel system, having emptied the tank to fit a water separator, previous person having replaced it with just dubious (not even diesel) inline filter. For one of the j ydrolic filters it meant going underneath to drain. Drilling oles in frame to access two inaccessi!e bolts to free pump to release 3" ose to free lower tank cover. Still struggling with thin return pipe from final drive. A simple 1/4" plastic sleeve/ olive all te way from Japan is waiting to e fitted. Also from Japan is te drain ose: couldn't fit it so removed plug and oil came out no bother; measured plug against special drain pipe: didn't fit, complete waste of money.
Anyway, for purging, I know I've ad prolem letting tractor go dry so ave been trying to find ow to do it on T016 (my letter after A (and G!) missing). Yours is the most attractive solution! I will release the two bowls and fill them wit diesel to give it the slightest chance.

🤣 yes that’s on the next service 😁 Lol that would be unlucky. That’s crazy but I’m also not surprised the kubota dealer here is terrible. Oh man that will make for a long 12 days definitely better find some stuff to do 😁👍🏻

I don't own your machine or any other excavator. But I do own a takeuchi track loader. My CTL and the manual transmission on my car both call for filling until the top hole has fluid coming out. Maybe yours is different but I'd hate to see you have a gear blow out for lack of fluid. I've never seen fluid level that low as you're depicting in video. Is your gear level just set up differently?

The loaders hold more gear oil in the drive motors than the excavators because they travel quicker and much more often. All my maintenance procedures are from the Takeuchi manuals in all my machines.

@eliteearthworksllc hey while I got you. If you don't mind. My takeuchi compact track loader service manual calls for CD or CE or CF 'API CLASS' diesel engine oil at 10w30 viscosity as my hydraulic fluid. But you cant find that. Any thoughts? Or does takeuchi hydraulics have different specs than what my service manual states? Thank you for helping.

@johnnywalker5635 no that’s what mine calls for too. You can use rotella 10w30 for it. In my TL 250 I guess I misread the diesel engine oil and just use regular 10w30 motor and that’s all I’ve put it in since I’ve had it from 2012. I can’t find anyone to tell me a difference in normal motor oil and diesel motor oil.
