Fela Ransome-Kuti is a TRUE LEGEND in Nigeria. He made many fights for his country and for the African continent. He invented the mindblowing Afrobeat musical style.
HIS INFLUENCE ON FUNK AND AFRICAN MUSIC IS UNSURPASSED.
He formed his first group Koola Lobitos in 1963. The large jazz, funk, and afrobeat collective underwent many changes in the following decades but the style remained the same thanks to Fela's vision and other key members such as drummer Tony Allen.
In 1969 after visiting America, Fela returned to Nigeria and opened club Afro Spot in Lagos also changing the group's name to Afrika 70.
He was a human rights revolutionary who started his own political party, Movement Of The People, to protest the kleptocracy in Nigeria. He had his own compound called the Kalakuta Republic in Lagos, which he declared independent from Nigeria.
I analogically recorded my original 1977 copy with a VMN40ML cartridge, at 48 000 Hz and 24 bits, directly from my AT-LP120 turntable to my Edirol UA-101 external USB soundcard
Enjoy this killer Afrobeat Jazz-Funk record guys !
Rest In Peace King Fela 🙏🏿 We will never forget you.
As he used to say : "MUSIC IS THE WEAPON OF THE FUTURE".

A record has just 2 sides, so let's make just 2 songs, one by side, 15min each and it's ok, you have record. Thanks you Mr Kuti !!!

I just remembered I had this CD once. Nice to hear this again. Also, I just found a vague resemblance with P.Gabriel's Biko in the intro, the beat is almost the same, and there's Fela's scream too. Thanks for sharing.
