I was lucky enough to go to a Fela concert in Santa Cruz, CA in the early 80’s. Amazing music, wonderful show, fantastic dancing on stage and in the audience.
I also saw him on that tour, but in NYC at Madison. It was both electrifying and exciting.

My parents grooved to Fela’s music at Kadadu Nite Club in Lagos in the 70s. My brothers and I snuck to Fela’s Shrine in the 90's to listen to gbedu. Sorrow turned into joy when I went to bury my eldest brother in London. Fela's "Water No Get Enemy" was playing as the casket was lead into the church. A die-hard fan of Abami Eda, he had it, as part of his dying wish, to listen to Fela in death.

I saw Tony Allen about a decade ago, he was in his seventies, but his playing was incredible. Far and away the best drummer I have ever seen.

@@2methylethel the lady dancers towards the end of the video carried an exotic feel to the performance. Even though those were his wives, story has it that Fela married to save them from persecution. Still, sort of reminded me of performing at a burlesque party many years ago.
